There’s a new twist to the unraveling drama surrounding Anna Nicole Smith’s death and it has to do with a recent breast surgery that she had to repair one of her breast implants. According to MSNBC, in the aftermath of her breast surgery Smith was prescribed nearly a dozen of different types of pain medication and it is possible that she may have been taking excessive amounts of them due to having developed tolerance to the effects. In addition to the high level of painkillers that Anna Nicole may have been taking, it is also possible that her flu-like symptoms that she experienced in the last few days up to her death were signs of an adverse infection from her cosmetic procedure. Death from plastic surgery occurs in one out of 57,000 cases, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). This is not to suggest that drugs such as methadone that she had likely taken did not have a role in this death.

Toxicology reports are expected in a month and they will likely shed light on the possibility that Anna Nicole died from an infection that was worsened by her consumption of an excessive amount of prescription painkillers.

Prior to her first appearance in Playboy, Smith had a breast augmentation and insisted on having two implants placed into each breast. Smith also had a face lift and other face work in the last two years.

There are documented cases of patients who had adverse reactions to surgery, which resulted in death from heart attacks, high fevers, and seizures. While the risk of infection is very small, research shows that respiratory and urinary tract infections such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and cystitis can increase the risk of having a heart attack and stroke.

While it’s quite possible that Anna Nicole died of a massive infection that was exacerbated by high consumption of pain killers, her alleged drug abuse (i.e. methadone) likely was the main culprit behind her death.

Our hearts go out to Anna Nicole. Although she did not embody the type of a woman that some of us would admire, Anna Nicole did not deserve this untimely death. There is a godly reason for everything that cannot be comprehended by us mere mortals, and only G-d knows why this fate was chosen for Anna Nicole Smith.
