Rose McGowan may have taken her role as a doctor on this season of Nip/Tuck a little too seriously, venturing under the knife for some plastic surgery in real life.

36-year old Rose McGowan has admitted to having plastic surgery to correct an injury suffered after a car accident a few years back. Make Me Heal readers may recall photos of Rose with a large bag under one eye, the supposed injury in question.

She says, “I didn’t realize I was hurt until I put my hand to my face and felt the flap of skin. My glasses had sliced me under my eye.”

While it looks like the injury has been corrected, it looks like Rose has continued having plastic surgery, given the very full appearance of her face.

In fact, Rose appears so altered that some even doubt the car accident story and attribute the scar to a botched plastic surgery that had to be corrected, like a blepharoplasty eyelid surgery that went wrong.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr Jennifer Walden says, “Rose McGowan has recently stated that she had some reconstructive facial surgery after a car accident, which could account for a tightened appearance in the periorbital area (around her eyes).   It also appears as if she has had Botox injections which can also lead to a pulled or strained look if over-injected in the periorbital area. In some photos, it looks as if she has a hint of levator ptosis, or eyelid droop, which can be an unwanted sequelae of Botox injections, eyelid surgery, or trauma to the eyelid area if the muscle that lifts the lid is affected.”

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “RoseMcGowan appears to have a few subtle changes to her face when comparing photos of when she was younger.  Her look now is a bit more mature.  But she does not appear to have had any major work done.  Rose is too young for a facelift, as it would not make any significant changes.  She may have had Botox in her forehead and a few fillers around her face, but that is about all.”

Board certified Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr David Shafer says,”The eye is a very sensitive area.  The changes seen could well be due to a car accident or plastic surgery gone wrong.”

These days, Rose’s face is very full, which could be the result of fat grafting and fillers which many think have made the actress nearly unrecognizable.

Fans of Rose can judge for themselves by watching Nip/Tuck or waiting for her next film Dylan’s Wake, due out in 2010.

Over the past year, Makemeheal.com has found a lot of bad plastic surgery and especially bad breast implant jobs. Although we don’t know when these botched breast augmentations took place, these are the ladies whose implants we outed over the past year, in no particular order.

Victoria Silvstedt

A former Playmate and Victoria’s Secret model is bound to have a full chest, but 34-year old Victoria Silvstedt’s implants are ridiculous. The large space and oversize make them look obviously fake, which could be a result of saline implants from Naturelle or Mentor over the years. Lynne Curtin

Real Housewife of Orange County Lynne Curtin’s recent facelift was a success, but her past breast augmentation was a plastic surgery failure. Bethenny Frankel

Real Housewife of New York Bethenny Frankel may only eat vegetarian, but that doesn’t mean that she only puts natural things into her body. 38-year old PETA spokesperson Bethenny’s breast impants are decidedly unnatural looking, being spaced too far apart and too large for her narrow frame. Kim Zolciak

Real Housewife of Atlanta Kim Zolciak’s large breast augmentation definitely give the blonde a fuller figure, but that’s not necessarily a good thing. Kim doesn’t mind looking plastic, saying, “I just don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. Some cosmetic enhancement is obvious. A lot of times, the people who aren’t talking about it are the ones who look horrible. I do Botox. I’ve had my boobs done twice. I started getting Botox when I was 25 for migraines. Rhona Mitra

While actress 32-year old Rhona Mitra’s breasts fit her frame and give her some stunning curves, she’s on Make Me Heal’s worst list for showing off her scars, a definite plastic surgery no-no. Chantelle

Chantelle’s breasts are so over-sized that they have totally taken over her career as a British reality star. For some reason, Chantelle thought Katie Price looked so good that she would try to be the next Jordan. Amy Winehouse

26-year old Singer Amy Winehouse stunned fans earlier this year when she was hospitalized not for drug use but for a breast augmentation. Holly Sampson (aka Tiger Woods Mistress)

Porn star Holly Sampson reached fame as being one of Tiger Woods’ many mistresses. But she probably wouldn’t be such a great porn star if she hadn’t invested in such a large pair of breast implants. 35-year old Singer and poet Jewel likely got her breast augmentation a few years back. But it was only this year that she began drawing attention for the bizarre appearance of her implants. The Worst Celebrity Plastic Surgery goes to celebrities who just can’t seem to stop getting injections, implanting, nipping, tucking, and tweaking this or that. Once it’s bad, there doesn’t seem to be any turning back for these celebrities who continue to look over the top plastic. Here are some of the worst cases of plastic surgery Makemeheal.com uncovered this year.

Victoria Silvestedt

34-year old Playmate turned model Victoria Silvestedt not only has an over-inflated chest, but over inflated lips that look like they are constantly puckering up. Nadya Suleman

Remember Octo-mom Nadya Suleman, the 33-year old who gave birth to 8 babies earlier this year, when it was revealed she already had 6 children living at home? Although Nadya has consistently denied having plastic surgery, but her uncanny resemblance to actress Angelina Jolie says otherwise. Lynne Curtain

50-something Real Housewife of Orange County Lynne Curtin keeps going under the knife. While her facelift looks good for now, Lynne really needs to consider alternative means of looking good as not all of her plastic surgery is successful when you consider her uneven Botox injections and bad breast augmentation. Amy Winehouse

The 26-year old vocal powerhouse stunned fans when she revealed her amazingly fake looking breast augmentation. Hollywood’s infamous Catwoman, 69-year old socialite Joceyln Wildenstein may be looking less feline these days, but she isn’t any less scary. In the past, Joceyln had brow lift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), fat grafting and/or cheek implants, a facelift, lip injections in the form of Collagen, and chin augmentation. Daryl Hannah

48-year old Daryl Hannah is no longer a hot young mermaid, but she sure is trying to be. Earlier this year, Daryl was caught on camera fresh from having plastic surgery. According to Dr. Paul S. Bruce Jenner

Make Me Heal was happy to hear that former Olympian Bruce Jenner had learned from his mistakes and was having his plastic surgery revised. Unfortunately, it seems to have been too late for the 60-year old, who still has a somewhat feminine appearance, thanks to an overly slim nose and an eyelift. Kelly Bensimon

With all the money the Real Housewives have, it’s hard to believe how much bad plastic surgery they undergo. 41-year old Kelly Bensimon of the Real Housewives of New York may be the worst case, with a breast augmentation that used implants too large for her frame and makes them look like they are trying to run away from each other. In addition, it looks like Kelly may have had body sculpting or liposuction procedures on her abdominal region, which has resulted in a rather lumpy appearance. Lil Kim is a notorious case of bad plastic surgery, so Make Me Heal was pleased to learn that the petite rapper had gotten a rhinoplasty revision.

34-year old Lil Kim has a lot of plastic surgery in her past, including a breast augmentation, as well as considerable facial plastic surgery including a nose job, lip augmentation, cheek implants and probably other fillers like Juvederm and Restylane (Read Make Me Heal’s complete story on Lil Kim’s plastic surgery).

Sometime after her nose job, many fans began to notice a dent in one side of Lil Kim’s nose, indicating that it had collapsed, due to a botched nose job that may have removed too much tissue, bone or cartilage.

As Lil Kim’s nose is no longer looking like it collapsed, she has likely undergone a secondary or revision rhinoplasty to correct the damage. A revision rhinoplasty is often a more difficult procedure than the initial nose job and cartilage grafts from either the ear or rib are often needed to rebuild the nasal structure.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, says, “A botched rhinoplasty is usually due to the surgeon making the nose too small and being overaggressive with the surgery.  This may lead to the obvious appearance of a rhinoplasty, and the nose collapsing in the future.  There are many ways a skilled revision rhinoplasty surgeon may correct this issue. The nose may be rebuilt using one’s own cartilage, which makes an excellent support system. This cartilage may be harvested from the septum and/or rib.  When performed properly by an expert surgeon, a revision rhinoplasty yields great results and leaves the patient very happy with a nose that is functionally improved and more aesthetically pleasing.”

Make Me Heal is glad that Lil Kim’s nose is looking better and hopes that her botched procedure encourages her to lay off the plastic surgery for a while.

Kurt Cobain’ widow Courtney Love has undergone her share of plastic surgery disasters since his death in 1994. But her days of going under the knife are over, thanks to a chance encounter with Jocelyn Wildenstein, aka Catwoman.

At 45, Courtney has undergone two or three nose jobs, lip augmentations, breast implants and liposuction. But after seeing the horror that is socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein, Courtney has been said to swear off plastic surgery.

A popular British tabloid has quoted Courtney as saying, “I could do with another boob lift, but no way.

“I don’t want to end up looking like her. She looked freaky.”

To achiever her “freaky” appearance, Jocelyn is rumored to have spent in the neighborhood of $4 million on brow lift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), fat grafting and/or cheek implants, a facelift, lip injections in the form of Collagen, and chin augmentation. Now, she is rumored to be undergoing reconstructive plastic surgery (See Make Me Heal’s story on Jocelyn Wildenstein’s plastic surgery).

Although she hasn’t reached Catwoman status yet, Courtney’s decision to cease having plastic surgery seems like a good idea, considering all the botched procedures she’s had in the past (See Make Me Heal’s story on Courtney Love’s plastic surgery).

Plastic surgeon Dr John Di Saia has another theory on Courtney’s intention to stay away from plastic surgery, saying, “She has had her share and I also hear she’s out of cash. Good for two reasons.”

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “Courtney Love has made a wise decision to avoid altering her appearance further. She had some work done in the past, and would not benefit from further procedures. Courtney appears satisfied, and as long as she is comfortable that is what matters.”

While Make Me Heal is glad that Courtney is done with the knife for now, it is likely that once Jocelyn’s image fades from her memory, her zeal for plastic surgery will return, as it has before.

Socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein is a cautionary tale of bad plastic surgery, using the knife to transform her appearance. But lately she has been looking slightly less bizarre, leading Make Me Heal to wonder if she has had some revision plastic surgery.

69-year old Jocelyn is rumored to have spent around $4million in an effort to make herself into a “Catwoman,” and thus more pleasing to her former husband, a big game cat lover. Her drastic cosmetic procedures have made her a tabloid favorite over the years, but recently many have begun to notice that Jocelyn’s appearance has tamed down some, which could be a result of a new round of cosmetic procedures designed to reverse the results of “Catwoman.”

Plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Ellenbogen says, “Whoever redid Ms. Wildenstein is a genius. I can’t think of a harder reconstruction. I’m sure the doctors who did the face transplants didn’t work as hard I have redone her face over and over in my mind over the years…good job colleague.”

To reverse Jocelyn’s drastic procedures, plastic surgeons would have to work very hard to lower Jocelyn’s preternaturally raised brows and very full face.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr David Shafer says, “Jocelyn Wildenstein’s brows are back in normal position, her cheeks are smaller in size and her lips are starting to look normal. Whatever she did works. She has a way to go, but she is headed in the right direction.”

Jocelyn’s previous plastic surgery procedures likely include brow lift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), fat grafting and/or cheek implants, a facelift, lip injections in the form of Collagen, and chin augmentation.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “Jocelyn Wildenstein appears to look a bit different from photos taken a year ago. Her facial features look a bit more natural than they once were. There is a possible reversal of a browlift to lower eyebrows and the corners of her eyes may have been dropped. Regarding her less full face, on a rare occasion, fat can be removed. And if it was injectable silicone, the silicone can be excised but this happens on very rare occasions as well.”

Whatever the reason for Jocelyn’s change of face, whether it’s years of tabloid ridicule, or her new man, Make Me Heal is glad the Jocelyn seems to be restoring herself to her former glory.

In a bid to retain her small claim to fame, Tara Reid is reportedly getting ready to pose for an upcoming issue of Playboy, plastic surgery scars and all.

33-year old Tara has notoriously undergone a botched liposuction and breast augmentation procedure back in 2004. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Tara Reid’s plastic surgery). Back then she seemed disinclined to show her body in the popular men’s magazine, saying that her body:

“It looked like I got completely butchered up. The areolas … they looked like goose-shaped eggs,” Reid said about her boob job. Of her liposuction, Reid said, “My stomach became the most ripply, bulgy thing.”

Since then, Tara has often been seen sporting a bikini, reportedly after going corrective surgery to fix the bulges on her stomach. To repair a botched body contouring procedure, fat grafting or other techniques are often used, sometimes with great or not so great results.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Ellenbogen says, “Tara Reid had bad liposuction. A few doctors have tried to repair it. It still looks gnarly. It can be repaired by fat grafting done by an expert over two or three sessions. I’ve had good results with most. Poor Tara. Her doctors should be ridiculed, not her!”

Plastic surgeon Dr. Sherrell J Aston says, “It is most often difficult or impossible to totally correct irregularities caused by liposuction. There are various techniques that can be used to bring about an improvement.”

In the past Tara has said she wouldn’t pose for Playboy, saying, ““I know there are problems with my stomach. There are bumps on it, it’s uneven, but it’s not that bad. My stomach scars are my battle wounds.”

While it is nice that Tara seems to have adjusted to her post-surgery body, it is likely that Playboy will have to use Photoshop and computer imaging techniques to restore the beauty to her former American Pie glory.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “Tara Reid unfortunately has a bad result from overaggressive liposuction. I see many people each month who have been to other (and often unqualified non-plastic surgeons) people who performed their liposuction. It is very difficult to surgically correct these deficiencies, so airbrushing will likely be needed for the Playboy photos. However, micro fat grafting and sometimes additional surgery, we are able to make significant improvements.”

Make Me Heal wishes Tara the best and hope she finally makes peace with her body before she becomes an even bigger victim of Hollywood’s obsession with plastic surgery.

41-year old Kelly Bensimon is not shy about voicing her opinions or her plastic surgery on the popular reality show Real Housewives of New York City. But Make Me Heal wonders what the mother of two will reveal in men’s magazine Playboy.

Kelly Bensimon’s personal life seems as filled with drama as her chest is filled with breast implants. Many bloggers have noted the bolted on appearance of Kelly’s breast implants, which are quite far away from each other, unlike natural appearing breasts.

New York plastic surgeon Dr David Shafer says, “Kelly Bensimon unfortunately looks like she has developed capsular contracture around her breast implants - leading to the asymmetric and “stuck-on” look. It also appears that her implants were not put under her muscle which would have provided an extra layer of tissue coverage. I am interested to see Playboy’s airbrushed results.”

Kelly’s career in front of the camera began as model and it seems that she has kept her thin frame, which is great in light of having two children. Her weight loss may have been aided by some weight-loss surgery like liposuction, which is apparent in the unusual shape of her belly-button, but that could also be a result of pregnancy.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr Jennifer Walden says, “Kelly Bensimon always keeps it interesting on the hit reality show The Real Housewives of New York City. It appears that Kelly went under the knife for breast augmentation, and may have implants that are a bit large for her frame resulting in a stretched look to the skin and noticeable line of the implant shape in the upper part of the breast. It also appears that Kelly may have had liposuction or body sculpting to her abdomen and flanks. Kelly is a beautiful woman and if she decides to pose for Playboy then I think she should withhold going under the knife again and just rely on great styling for her shoot.”

Whether you prefer him as Rocky or Rambo, Sylvester Stallone has never been afraid of a fight and it looks like he’s not afraid of the knife either, undergoing various plastic surgery procedures over the years. Sly debuted his latest look at the Venice Film Festival.

63-year old Sly showed up at the Venice Film Festival looking dapper in a pin-striped suit and fresh from the plastic surgeon’s office. He was even spotted sporting scars on his forehead indicating a recent browlift.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “The pictures of Sylvester Stallone show signs of face and forehead lift - including visible scars. His brows also show an unnatural peak and skin bunching laterally. He does look improved from previous post-op photos, presumably the improvement has come as the swelling has resolved and the tissues have softened.”

This clearly wasn’t the fit actor’s first trip under the knife, as in the past, he has not only used injectable wrinkle-fighter Botox, but also has had a facelift and possible blepharoplasty surgeries to help show off his dark brown eyes. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Sylvester Stallone’s Botox). His skin may also be benefiting from chemical peels from time to time to help maintain his youthful looks.

On his blog a while back, plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn reports, “I noticed on the interview that he had a nice, sharp jawline, which is pretty uncommon for a 61 year old man. This could be a sign of a facelift. Other than that, his eyelids show remarkably little aging in the photos above. This may be a sign of well-done blepharoplasty surgeries. He also appears to take good care of this skin, possibly with chemical peels and medical grade skin care. It’s also possible that some of his “nutritional” supplements may affect the way he looks, although I wouldn’t be able to comment much on that.”

More recently, Dr. Youn blogged, “Interesting photos on Dlisted.com show what appears to be open browlift scars on Sylvester Stallone. Plus, his eyebrows are over-arched in the photos, a possible consequence of Botox (or Dysport).”

“I haven’t performed an open browlift in over five years. Although many fantastic surgeons use this procedure, I have never seen a hairline browlift scar I liked. For this reason, I perform almost exclusively the Endotine Endoscopic Browlift. Scars are much shorter with less risk of numbness and chronic pain. The results may be less permanent and predictable than with an open browlift, however.”

Sly may not look 63, but he is starting to look as bizarre as his mother, Jackie, another notorious case of bad plastic surgery. Jackie has had so much work over the years that we shudder to contemplate the number of facelifts and fillers that have gone into making the 88-year old woman look ageless.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, Calif., said, “Sylvester Stallone’s mom may have had facelift, combined with browlift, and various fillers injected around her face. This is mainly evident in her lips, which show a little bit more pout than they normally would. She may have gone a tad too far trying to halt the aging process. She is a naturally pretty woman, and it may have worked to her advantage to back down on the surgery a bit.”

His borderline bizarre looks aside; Make Me Heal enjoys Sly’s action-packed films and looks forward to seeing the next installment of Rambo on the big screen.

Kitty Madison is a Dutch woman who was not only born the wrong the gender but the wrong species as well. To correct the problem, she has spent money on plastic surgery and devices that allow her to live life as mermaid-like as possible.

According to an article in Vice magazine, Kitty-Madison explains that her dreams of being a mermaid began when she was 15 and saw the movie Splash, starring Daryl Hannah. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Daryl Hannah’s plastic surgery).

Kitty-Madison says:

“I was born as a boy. It’s a fact that I’m in the wrong skin. But the fact that I wanted to become a mermaid has just enforced my feminine side. I’ve got tattoos on my arms because I tried to live like a man for a long time. In the end there was only one solution, become a woman or end it all.”

“After I saw the movie I just had one dream: To try and live my life like a mermaid. I just couldn’t let go. Despite all the people who criticized me and didn’t believe in my perseverance, strength, and love for mermaids, I still carried on. I tried to live out the myth as much as possible. And diving with compressed air just isn’t an option, so I learned how to free dive. This meant that I could stay underwater for long times without oxygen tanks. And of course I needed a tail. My first one I made from an old legging and fins. I kept on trying different techniques to improve my tail. But some wore out really fast and others couldn’t take the chlorine. After much experimenting, I met a guy at a diving convention who makes custom diving suits. He made my first mono-fin. Later, when I became Kitty-Madison, I bought the same tail that Daryl Hannah wore in the movie. Orange with glitters, custom made for me. I immediately felt a lot better. I love the water and by then I could stay under water for several minutes easily. But still something from my dream was missing. I was a male mermaid.”

“The last step to my mermaid existence was a transition. From this moment on my name is Kitty-Madison. My old neighbor was named Kitty and I loved that name so much that I just took it as my own. The mermaid from Splash is called Madison. My dream was almost fulfilled but the preparations for the surgery involved a lot of emotional pain. As a boy I often felt that my gender was wrong, and to top it of I wanted to become a mermaid. When I was a man I feared many times that I wouldn’t be able to achieve my goals, and that was a really painful realization. But after some time I approached a specialized gender team that helps you with the process of becoming a woman. After 30 minutes I realised that it would take too long and that it wouldn’t make me any happier. Besides, I felt that they wouldn’t understand my dream of becoming a mermaid. My life was hanging by a thread, I didn’t want to continue living this way.”

“After this difficult period in my life I decided to take matters into my own hands. I found my own gender-psychologist and after only four weeks I got the go-ahead. They put me on hormones, which made me tired and restless. I couldn’t even be a mermaid for a while. I never had any real physical pain, but the emotional pain is still very deep from when I was a boy and to this day. I lost a lot of people around me in that stage of transition. But I guess they aren’t real friends. To this day I still get hateful comments from strangers on my blogs.”

“Living as a mermaid requires huge financial sacrifices. But I don’t mind spending money on things that I truly want. I keep my tail in a fire-safe room. It’s my most valuable possession. Not just financially but also emotionally. And I had to buy more stuff to make my dream come true. A real mermaid can see underwater and never gets water up her nose, so I needed to find solutions for those problems. I bought special lenses without corrective strength, about an inch in diameter, so the water can’t get into my eyes. And I’ve got a tom nose, the same silicone plugs that they use in synchronised swimming. You just put them up your nose and nobody can tell you’re wearing them.”

“Now I’m a happy person. I ride my bike, I swim, and I take yoga to keep fit for my life as a mermaid. I’m in the pool four, five times a week. The first time I dove into the pool with my fin I had some very mixed emotions. Go for it, it’s your dream, isn’t it? But on the other hand, what if I drown. But now I’m so experienced in swimming that I’ve started my own company. I give workshops to teach people how to swim like a mermaid and you can book me for a show. I’m not making any money off my business but it suits me. If I could make real money with this I would never want to work again. I feel so much love for life as a mermaid that I would give up my real life. I’m glad that nobody made me choose between me lives. I really love my boyfriend, but if he tries to make me give up my life as a mermaid, I would choose life as Kitty-Madison the mermaid.”

Plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “If this story is true, I am not quite sure what procedure would be required. The tail is obviously prosthetic and removable.”

Kitty-Madison is certainly a bizarre story of plastic surgery and Make Me Heal hopes her tail (sorry) has a happy ending like the Disney version of The Little Mermaid.
