Did Oscar Winning Director Kathryn Bigelow Get Plastic Surgery for The Hurt Locker?

Posted on March 11th, 2010 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Oscars Plastic Surgery, Award Shows by Sam Stets

Oscar Sunday was a big night for Kathryn Bigelow. The director of The Hurt Locker became the first female winner of the Best Director Oscar and her film won for Best Picture. But how great would the nearly 6-foot director look without some plastic surgery?

58-year old Kathryn Bigelow looks astounding for her age. With only the gentlest of wrinkles visible, she has either spent time under the knife or has some of the best genes ever.

Kathyn Bigelow, Plastic Surgery

Given the lack of sagging skin and deep wrinkles, Kathryn has likely had a facelift at some time in her life. It must have been conservative, as she still able to smile and not look “pulled.” Eyelid surgery, or a blepharoplasty is also a possibility, as Kathryn doesn’t have a lot of the sags and bags that come with age.

New York plastic surgeon Dr Jennifer Walden says, ” Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow looks really great for 58.  It appears that she may have had a conservative facelift and blepharoplasty, or just amazing genes.”

If Kathryn has had a facelift, she may also be using Botox and facial fillers like Prevelle and Radiesse.

According to Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “ Kathryn Bigelow may have had a conservative facelift at some point, and possibly some Botox and facial fillers. She looks great, and overall, her look is very natural.  Any work she had was performed very well.”

Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “Kathryn’s forehead is remarkably smooth as compared to the rest of her face. This is most likely from Botox or Dysport treatments to her forehead.”

“The rest of her face appears to be untouched or treated in anyway.”

Kathryn’s big win was against competition from her ex-husband, James Cameron and his hit film Avatar. James and his current wife Suzy Amis showed up to the Oscars looking like they could use some Botox refreshment (See Make Me Heal’s story on Suzy Amis’s Botox).

Kathryn set a historic precedent with her win and Makemeheal.com looks forward to seeing what she does next.

Plastic Surgery Reigns at the 2010 Oscars

The Big Night has come and gone. Now Makemeheal.com takes a look at all the plastic surgery parading down the 2010 Oscars red carpet.

In the Best Actor Category, all the actors seem to be as yet untouched by the knife, but could stand a little plastic surgery refreshment. Best Actor Oscar winner for Crazy Heart Jeff Bridges could stand a shave and some plastic surgery in his neck region (See Make Me Heal’s story on Jeff Bridges’ plastic surgery).

Jeff Bridges, Plastic Surgery

It’s unclear whether or not nominee for Best Actor for Up in the Air, George Clooney, has gone under the knife, but he may have had a blepharoplasty to get rid of the bags under his eyes (See Make Me Heal’s story on George Clooney’s plastic surgery).

George Clooney, Plastic Surgery

Make Me Heal congratulates all the Best Actor nominees for jobs well done, including Colin Firth in A Single Man, Morgan Freeman for Invictus (See Make Me Heal’s story on Morgan Freeman’s plastic surgery) and Jeremy Renner for The Hurt Locker.

Colin Firth, Plastic Surgery

In the Supporting Actor category, Make Me Heal congratulates winner Christoph Waltz for his work in Inglorious Basterds. He and his fellow nominees, Matt Damon for Invictus, Woody Harrelson in The Messenger, Christopher Plummer in The Last Station, and Stanley Tucci in The Lovely Bones all sport facial wrinkles and may have used injectables like Botox, Juvederm, or Dysport to get a fresh complexion on their big nights on the red carpet. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Christoph Waltz’ Plastic Surgery).

Christoph Waltz, Plastic Surgery

Rom-com favorite and America’s sweetheart, Sandra Bullock took home the Best Actress gold statue for her role in The Blind Side, with a little plastic surgery to keep her looking fresh and young (See Make Me Heal’s story on Sandra Bullock’s Botox).

Sandra Bullock, Plastic Surgery

Some of her fellow nominees have also seen the inside of the plastic surgeon’s office, including Helen Mirren, nominated for The Last Station who some believe has had a facelift while others believe she is totally natural (See Make Me Heal’s story on Helen Mirren’s plastic surgery).

Helen Mirren, Plastic Surgery

Oscar favorite, and butt of the evening’s running commentary, Meryl Streep, who has had a few facelifts, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), plenty of botox and injectable fillers, was nominated for her role in Julie & Julia (See Make Me Heal’s story on Meryl Streep’s plastic surgery).

Meryl Streep, Plastic Surgery

Carey Mulligan, nominated for An Education, has been found to be so beautiful she doesn’t need plastic surgery…yet (See Make Me Heal’s story on Carey Mulligan’s plastic surgery).  That’s not to say that she may not opt to have a few small tweaks as she ages like botox or juvederm.

Carey Mulligan, Plastic Surgery

Acting newcomer Gabourey Sidibe was also considered a favorite for her role in Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire. The plus sized actress may want to consider some weight loss measures such as exercise or surgery, which she may want to follow up with some plastic surgery procedures such as a tummy tuck, and body lifts to get rid of any excess skin that results from massive weight loss (See Make Me Heal’s story on Gabourey Sidibe’s plastic surgery).

Gabourey Sidibe, Plastic Surgery

Supporting Actress winner Mo’Nique for Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire, is not yet a plastic surgery fan and was still sporting hairy legs at the Oscars, so it seems she didn’t take our advice and invest in some laser hair removal (See Make Me Heal’s story on Mo’Nique’s plastic surgery) or a home laser hair removal device like Silk’n Sensepil.  Like her co-star Sidibe, she may want to consider weight loss although Mo’Nique carries her weight well and it’s become her trademark look so a slimmer version of herself may not boost her star appeal.

Mo'Nique, Plastic Surgery

Her fellow nominee, Penelope Cruz, nominated for her role in Nine, has been under the knife, for some lip augmenation via injectable fillers like Restylane, Juvederm or Prevelle at the very least (See Make Me Heal’s story on Penelope Cruz’s plastic surgery).

Penelope Cruz, Plastic Surgery

Vera Farmiga, nominated for Up in the Air, may or may not have some plastic surgery in her past to keep her skin taut and wrinkle-free, and she may want to consider cheek augmentation via fillers such as Sculptra as her cheeks are a bit sunken (See Make Me Heal’s story on Vera Farmiga’s plastic surgery).

Vera Farmiga, Plastic Surgery

Also nominated for the frequent flyer flick, Up in the Air, is Anna Kendrick. Young Anna hasn’t gotten any plastic surgery yet, but that is sure to change as her star continues to rise (See Make Me Heal’s story on Anna Kendrick’s plastic surgery).

Anna Kendrick, Plastic Surgery

Maggie Gyllenhaal was nominated for role in Crazy Heart. The Indie actress is rumored to have very recently undergone plastic surgery on her eyes and neck (See Make Me Heal’s story on Maggie Gyllenhaal’s plastic surgery).

Maggie Gyllenhaal, Plastic Surgery

Make Me Heal enjoyed the performances of all the nominees. Look out for Make Me Heal’s story on Best Picture winner The Hurt Locker and its pretty Oscar-winning director, Kathryn Bigelow, later in the week.

How Can Plastic Surgery Help Oscars Winner Christoph Waltz, nominees Matt Damon & Woody Harrelson

Actresses go through an amazing amount of prep work to get ready for Oscar night. But what about their male counterparts? Makemeheal.com takes a look at some of the Best Supporting actor nominees, including winner Christoph Waltz, and fellow nominees Matt Damon and Woody Harrelson and how they could benefit from some plastic surgery before and after Oscar night.

53-year old Christoph Waltz seems to have only recently made his Hollywood debut, but the Austrian actor may be headed for success thanks to his winning role in the Oscar nominated Inglourious Basterds. To appeal to an American audience used to perfection in their film stars, Christoph may want to try a little Botox and some facial fillers like Restylane, Perlane or Prevelle.

Christoph Waltz, Plastic Surgery

Dr Salzhauer says, “Christoph Waltz certainly uses his forehead muscles a lot as shown by the rows of lines he has in his forehead. Hyperactive muscles, aging, possibly weight loss and sun damage all look like they are taking a toll on his skin and face.  Botox would make a great improvement with the forehead lines and a facial filler to replace the lost volume in his cheeks would help him look younger and refreshed.”

Dr Nassif says, “Christoph Waltz does not appear to have had any surgery to improve his appearance. A natural look suits him well. He may benefit from conservative facial fillers and Botox, but it is strictly personal preference.”

39-year old Matt Damon plays a variety of roles and does them all well. He has been recognized for his role in Invictus. Matt could use some Botox to help him squint into the bright flashes of the carpet photographers.

Matt Damon, Plastic Surgery

Miami plastic surgeon Dr Michael Salzhauer says, “Matt Damon is known for his versatility in playing an array of characters from all- American boy to the rugged hero type.  It is rumored that he will be playing the role of Senator Robert Kennedy in an upcoming film and this is an important factor in him doing anything to his appearance. To give him that handsome celebrity glow for the Oscars he could benefit from some Botox in his forehead and a good skin peel to reduce some fine lines and sun damage.  The great thing about Botox for Matt is that it will rejuvenate his face without any down time and is temporary only lasting about 4 months so he can continue playing any character role. “

As Matt is still young and different standards apply to him than a female actress of the same age, Matt can get away with a few wrinkles and crow’s feet.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California, says, “Matt Damon has not had any surgery to this point, and he would not benefit from any right now. He shows very minimal signs of aging, and should stick with his natural look. “

48-year old Woody Harrelson took a while to be a big screen favorite, but he eventually succeeded in stepping away from his role on the hit television show Cheers. Now, Woody is nominated for a supporting actor Oscar for his role in The Messenger. Woody manages to be leading man material, but his looks could be yet improved. Most obviously, he may want to consider some hair transplants for his receding hairline, and he may have dabbled with Juvederm or a similar facial filler in the past.

Woody Harrelson, Plastic Surgery

Dr Nassif says, “Woody Harrelson may have had some conservative facial fillers at some point. At this time, he may benefit from hair transplant surgery. That is strictly a personal preference, as a natural looks suits him just fine. “

If Woody wanted to really transform his look and appear much younger, he could do with eyelid surgery to eliminate the bags around his eyes. He may also want to consider having a nose job to get rid of his somewhat bulbous nasal tip.

Dr Salzhauer says, “In regards to a man’s appearance, it is very important to men to always look like men.  Especially when it comes to actors that have built their reputation around their masculinity. So it is important to make sure not to feminize their look.  An upper eyelid lift would do wonders for Woody to correct his sagging upper eyelids, but it should be conservative and not alter his natural eye shape. (Remember Kenny Rogers new look)  Also, a Rhinoplasty to correct his sagging tip could give him a more defined and sculpted look.”

Makemeheal.com wishes all the Supporting Actor nominees the best of luck at the upcoming Oscars ceremony.

2010 Oscar Hosts Steve Martin & Alec Baldwin Laugh it Up Without Plastic Surgery

This year’s Academy Awards will be a little different, hosted by not one but two famous faces: Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. With so much funny in the room, Makemeheal.com wonders if there will be any space for plastic surgery.

For Alec Baldwin, hosting the Oscars may be the closest he gets to winning a gold guy of his own. The 51-year old 30 Rock star recently lamented his bad luck with films and predicted his own plastic surgery future(See Make Me Heal’s story on Alec Baldwin’s Plastic Surgery).

Alec Baldwin, Plastic Surgery

Miami plastic surgeon Dr Michael Salzhauer says, “Alec Baldwin would look years younger with a neck rejuvenation procedure.  A combination of neck liposuction and suspension sutures to sculpt his jaw line would make a dramatic improvement.”

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California, says, Alec Baldwin looks great, and has not had any work done to this point. He may have had a few fillers and Botox at some point in his life. Overall, his natural look suits him very nicely, and any further procedures are strictly up to him. “

Alec’s co-host, Steve Martin is another story. At 64 years old, Steve has built a reputation on being funny, even winning Emmy Awards for his comedic talent. While Steve does a lot of work behind the scenes, he is often onscreen and likely doesn’t use much in the way of plastic surgery, although he may have experimented with Botox or fillers like Juvederm in the past.

Steve Martin, Plastic Surgery

Dr Nassif says, “Steve Martin may have had conservative facial fillers and Botox at one point. He would not benefit from anything else right now, as his look is natural and suits him very well.”

Dr Salzhauer says, “I personally would be devastated if comedian Steve Martin did a dramatic cosmetic procedure to his face.  His funniest performances are when he contorts his face and makes facial expressions that only he can do.  I usually recommend Botox for everyone, but he is the one person who I say should go without.  I look forward to seeing his forehead muscles performing new tricks when he hosts the Oscars.”

Depending on the host, they can often be the best part of the long Academy Awards event and Make Me Heal looks forward to double the fun this year.

Plastic Surgery Tips for Supporting Actress Nominee Anna Kendrick

Posted on March 5th, 2010 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Oscars Plastic Surgery, Award Shows by Carrie Zender

Up in the Air actress Anna Kendrick is up for a Supporting Actress Oscar. To better her chances, Makemeheal.com thinks Anna could consider a little plastic surgery for the big night.

24-year old Anna Kendrick has been on Broadway longer than she’s been in front of the camera. But her recent role in the airport romantic comedy Up in the Air has earned her fans and a Supporting Actress nomination.

Anna Kendrick, Plastic Surgery

No stranger to awards show, as she was nominated for a Tony back in 1998, Anna has changed a lot since then. As a relative newbie to the Hollywood scene, Anna may want to consider some facial fillers to help disguise her weight fluctuations.

Dr Salzhauer says, “Anna is young, beautiful and flawless.  She needs to keep taking care of her skin and remember to always wear sun block because of her fair complexion to keep her looking that way.  In the two different pictures you can tell that when her weight fluctuates it is apparent on her face- specifically her cheeks.  She could use a facial filler to replenish that lost volume to her cheeks and give her face more dimension.”

However, as Anna’s natural look is what earned her the nomination, staying natural may also be a good option for her.

Dr Nassif says, “Anna Kendrick is still very young. She has had no surgery to this point, and would not benefit from anything, as her look is beautiful and natural. “

Anna looks great and has done a lot of impressive work for someone so young and Make Me Heal looks forward to her red carpet appearance.

Does Supporting Actress Oscar Nominee Vera Farmiga Need Plastic Surgery?

Posted on March 5th, 2010 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Oscars Plastic Surgery, Award Shows by Lisa Stanfield

No matter what color her hair is, Vera Farmiga’s talent shows through, and this time it has earned her an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress for her work in Up in the Air. For her walk down the Oscar red carpet, Vera could be considering some plastic surgery touch-ups/

36-year old goat loving Vera Farmiga doesn’t have your typical Hollywood lifestyle, but she may be using some of the same plastic surgery techniques as her La-La land peers. Her smooth skin could be the result of past Botox injections, as could her full cheeks.

Vera Farmiga, Plastic Surgery

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California, says, “Vera Farmiga may have had conservative facial fillers at some point, along with Botox. Overall, she looks great and would not benefit from anything else at this time. “

If Vera’s beautiful skin is natural, she is doing a great job and should keep up the good work. To help her, she could look at using a facial filler, like Sculptra, to help lessen the recesses under her eyes, which make her look older.

Miami plastic surgeon Dr Michael Salzhauer says, “Vera shows that she takes great care of her face and skin.  “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”.  If Vera maintains her beauty regimen she is not going to need much as she matures.   She could however benefit from some type of facial filler such as Sculptra in her cheeks.  They look a bit deflated and it is starting to create a sunken look under her eyes.  Filling in that area would give her a healthy youthful look to her face.”

Vera Farmiga is a very talented actress and it will be interesting to see who wins among her fellow Oscar nominees.

Does Supporting Actress Oscar Nominee Mo’Nique Need Plastic Surgery for Red Carpet?

Mo’Nique is one funny lady, but there’s nothing funny about her role in Precious: Based on the Novel “Push” by Sapphire, which has earned her a Supporting Actress Oscar nomination. What was funny was her red carpet appearance at red carpet event earlier this year was her hairy legs. For the upcoming Academy Awards, Mo’Nique may want to consider plastic surgery to ensure she is looking her finest.

42-year old Mo’Nique doesn’t play into traditional Hollywood roles and is proud of it. At the Golden Globes earlier this year, where she won for her role as the mother in Precious, Mo’Nique gave viewers a glimpse of her gams, which were very hairy. If Mo’Nique dislikes shaving so much, she may want to consider laser hair removal so that she won’t have to worry about hairy legs again.

Mo'Nique, Plastic Surgery

Dr Salzhauer says, “I’ve heard that laser hair removal for women is the greatest invention since disposable diapers.  Laser hair removal is a safe and effective way to reduce body hair; however, dark skin types (Fitzpatrick Skin Types V & VI) must be careful because they are more susceptible to getting burnt.  Monique should look into ND Yag laser treatments that are considered safest for dark skin types and get rid of those hairy legs.”

Mo’Nique is a big woman and proud of it. But after dropping some weight, she may want to consider some plastic surgery to get rid of any remaining lose skin, as well as a breast lift and augmentation to restore her breasts back to where they used to be.

Dr Nassif says, “Mo’Nique has not had any work done at this point. She is a woman with an elegant look that suits her very nicely. Any procedures she wishes to have performed are strictly up to her. “

Mo’Nique has already swept the other awards shows for her category, and Makemeheal.com thinks she has a chance at the Oscar as well.

Does Leading Actor Oscar Nominee Jeff Bridges Need Plastic Surgery?

As one of the most diverse actors around, moving easily from comedy to drama, Jeff Bridges relies a great deal on his masculine looks. But that doesn’t mean the Crazy Heart nominee couldn’t benefit from some plastic surgery.

Jeff Bridges, Plastic Surgery

60-year old Jeff Bridges still looks great for his age, but time has definitely taken its toll. Jeff’s bright blue eyes are now hidden behind sags and bags, which could be taken care of with a blepharoplasty (upper and lower eyelid surgery). He could also use some help around his neck and jawline. The beard he is currently sporting actually accentuates this common problem area, which could be rectified with a mini necklift and some liposuction.

Miami plastic surgeon, Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “Jeff is a very manly man.  Although his eyelids are sagging, his forehead is creased and his skin is sun-damaged, it fits his rugged persona.  Some minor treatments like Botox for the wrinkles around his eyes and forehead would give him a subtle improvement and still keep him looking like himself.  If he wanted to do one thing to make a huge improvement in his appearance I would have to say neck rejuvenation.  The beard doesn’t help with his sagging neck and jaw line, but neck liposuction in conjunction with some suspension sutures to define and sculpt his neck area would make a dramatic improvement and would take years off of his look.”

If Jeff wanted to take a more conservative approach, some Botox or Dysport in the deeper creases across his forehead and some fillers like Perlane or Restylane in his crow’s feet could be greatly beneficial.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California, says, “Jeff Bridges does not appear to have had any plastic surgery.  He may benefit from conservative facial fillers, as crow’s feet are present around the eyes. Botox in the forehead may benefit him as well.”

Jeff is a great actor, taking after his father the late Lloyd Bridges and his 5 Oscar nominations over the years go a great way to prove it.

Leading Actress Oscar Nominee Gabourey Sidibe’s Plastic Surgery Possibilities

Gabourey Sidibe isn’t your typical Oscar nominee. She’s never before starred in a film, let alone one as talked about as Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire. And her body type isn’t typical Hollywood either. Unlike Renee Zellweger, she didn’t need to pack on the pounds for her success. But that doesn’t mean that Gabourey couldn’t benefit from some plastic surgery, the same as the next star.

26-year old Gabourey Sidibe has been making the talk show rounds since her film debut. To date, it doesn’t look like she’s had any plastic surgery to help give her a pre-Oscar glow.

Gabourey Sidibe, Plastic Surgery

Dr Nassif says, “Gabourey Sidibe has not had any work done at this point. She is a woman with a natural and elegant look that suits her very nicely. Any procedures she wishes to have performed are strictly up to her.”

However, although Gabourey looks great, she may need to lose weight before plastic surgery could be safely performed.

Dr Salzhauer says, “The most important thing that Gabourey should be focusing on is her health.  Her weight right now is very unhealthy and dangerous.  She should look into a gastric bypass to help her get on the right track to a healthier life and then take it from there after she loses some weight.  If she loses a significant amount of weight, she will need to see a plastic surgeon to get rid of any excess skin. But at this point, there is nothing (surgically) a plastic surgeon could do until she has a safe BMI (Body Mass Index).

Gabourey has been quoted as saying, “I learned to love myself, because I sleep with myself every night and I wake up with myself every morning, and if I don’t like myself, there’s no reason to even live the life. I love the way I look. I’m fine with it. And if my body changes, I’ll be fine with that.”

Makemeheal.com looks forward to seeing what Gabourey does next in the upcoming film Yelling to the Sky.

Leading Actress Oscar Nominee Carey Mulligan Doesn’t Need Plastic Surgery

Posted on March 3rd, 2010 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Oscars Plastic Surgery, Award Shows by Dana Jackson

As the Oscars approach, many of Hollywood’s leading ladies are cramming in their last minute plastic surgery procedures. Luckily, Leading Actress nominee for An Education, Carey Mulligan, is so cute, she can go plastic surgery-free for now.

24-year old British actress Carey Mulligan is getting quite a reputation not only as an actress, but also as a style icon. Part of her appeal is from her fresh face, which is as yet untouched by the knife.

Carey Mulligan, Plastic Surgery

Miami plastic surgeon Dr Michael Salzhauer says, “Carey is so young and cute.  I wouldn’t do a thing.  She just needs to take care of her skin and maintain a healthy lifestyle to keep looking naturally beautiful.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California, says, “Carey Mulligan is still very young. She has had no surgery to this point, and would not benefit from anything as her look is beautiful and natural.”

Makemeheal.com thinks that Carey will have many Oscar shows ahead of her and looks forward to seeing how her style changes in the future.
