Are Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver Wedded to Plastic Surgery?

Posted on November 4th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Lisa Stern

At 62, Arnold Schwarzenegger has already lived several lifetimes, first as a bodybuilder, then as an action hero and now as a political giant. In each incarnation, his success has depended on his looks, so it’s no small wonder that he has always face rumors of plastic surgery, now more than ever.

Rumors of Arnold’s under the knife adventures include chin and cheek implants and more recently, a face and necklift as well as injectables like Botox.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Ellenbogen says, “Arnold Schwarzenegger is a 62 year old man. Now, honestly do 62 year old men look as good as him? He’s juiced with steroids and has had two heart operations. We hate to out manly men like Arnold, but his face is tight, his skin is not wrinkled, his jawline is anything but saggy. Duh! If it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, it is a facelift, chin adjustment, necklift and probably a laundry list of injectables and other procedures…he looks great. Congrats to his plastic surgeon.”

As full and healthy looking as Arnold is, his wife, 54-year old Maria Shriver, is anything but. Almost scarily too thin, Maria looks like she is in need of some fat grafting to her face, in addition to the Botox injections she likely uses to smooth out her forehead.

maria Shriver, Plastic Surgery

Dr Ellenbogen says, “Maria Shriver appears to have not had any major plastic surgery procedures. She may have had some injectables. Her face appears to have deflated from loss of fat. She would look great with facial fat grating, a simple procedure where her own fat is extracted from her waist and injected into her face. The down time is much less magnitude than a facelift. Fat grafting can be combined with a facelift for a very rejuvenated look when performed by an expert.”

On the other hand, both Arnold and Maria may be aging naturally and are just blessed with good bone structure. However, they may have occasional Botox injections to keep them looking good.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “Arnold and Maria are aging nicely, and I do not see the possibility of any major work having been done. Maria may have had some Botox in her forehead, but overall her look is natural. She may benefit from fillers around her face to even out some of her natural lines. Arnold may have had a bit of Botox in the forehead as well, but that is about it. Speculations that he had the appearance of his chin altered through genioplasty are very unlikely. Arnold has a strong profile, and his genetics are responsible for his facial features looking strong at his age.”

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr Jennifer Walden says, “Maria is blessed with great genes and beautiful bone structure. I feel she has always maintained a fairly natural, conservative look. It is possible Ms. Shriver has had injectibles to keep her face free of wrinkles. There have been many rumors that Arnold went under the knife for a chin implant and possible face lift, but it appears that as he let up on the weight training and body building most of his “bulk” in his neck and face dissipated. I think it is a combination of slimming down and aging that contributes to his face changing over the years. I wouldn’t be surprised however if he did use Botox as well as other injectables.”

Whether or not California’s first couple has been under the knife or not, Arnold won’t be reprising his role as “Governator” come the next election.

Did Gary Shandling Have some Funny Plastic Surgery?

Posted on November 3rd, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Dana Jackson

Funny man Gary Shandling hasn’t been in the limelight lately, but Make Me Heal suspects he has been spending his time off from entertainment getting plastic surgery.

Turning 60 at the end of the month, Gary has begun to look his age and has likely turned to plastic surgery to keep him camera ready for his appearance in the Iron Man sequel, due out next year. Gary’s plastic surgery seems obvious to Make Me Heal, because his neck and face no longer match.

Garry Shandling, Plastic Surgery

Gary may have had cosmetic surgery on his neck, as either liposuction or a necklift.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr David Shafer says, “Obviously something is different with Gary Shandling’s neck from the before and after photos. Whether he had liposuction of the neck or a neck lift is unclear.”

The other reason his neck appears to be a different age from his face is that his face has gone through plastic surgery, but the doctor failed to make his neck match. As a result, his face appears smooth, while his neck remains wrinkled.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Ellenbogen says, “Gary Shandling looks bloated. His neck is so fat, either his plastic surgeon didn’t know how to do necks, or he simply went to some injectables-crazy dermatologist who never looked below his jawline. Plastic surgery is a balance of all parts of the face. If they all fit, nobody knows. Gary Shandling doesn’t match.”

It seems likely that Gary has used injectables in his face, likely both Botox and fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “Gary Shandling may have had some Botox in his face and forehead, as lines that were once present are no longer there. Other than that, I do not believe he had anything else performed.”

Hopefully Gary’s sense of humor hasn’t changed along with his appearance and Make Me Heal looks forward to seeing what he does next.

George Clooney Eyelid Plastic Surgery Rumors Return

Posted on October 30th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Jet H. Ross

George Clooney is well known prankster in Hollywood, and his latest jokes have gone public, with George playing around with whether or not he’s had plastic surgery. Make Me Heal thinks the latest rumors could be true, as the gray-haired fox himself didn’t start them.

George Clooney, Plastic Surgery

A few years ago, George scammed his fans when he told Julia Roberts he’d had his done (See Make Me Heal’ story on George Clooney’s eyelid surgery). Then the now 48-year stud took back his comments, saying that they were nothing but a joke (See Make Me Heal’s story on George Clooney’s plastic surgery).

However, it seems that the rumors of a blepharoplasty may have recently come true, as indicated by George’s rejuvenated-looking eyelids at a recent red carpet appearance.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Ellenbogen says, “George Clooney appears in earlier pictures to have heavy upper eyelids and presently they appear deeper above. This doesn’t happen by chance, in my opinion. Things usually get worse, not better, as you get older. However, there may be some exceptions.”

For eyelid surgeries, scars are done on the inside of the lid, so there would be no obvious signs under the harsh lights of the photographers

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr David Shafer says, “Looking at the before and after photos, there leaves little question that he had surgical intervention. Often eyelid surgery can be performed from inside the eyelid, so no scars are apparent. Now, just a little Botox Cosmetic and he will be all set.”

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “It is possible that George Clooney had blepharoplasty. In older photos, you can see there is a bit of skin giving the eyes a slightly tired look. The skin is not as apparent in more recent photos. If he did have the surgery, his surgeon was conservative and did a really nice job in creating a subtle change.”

Whatever George has done, whether it is getting more sleep or getting a little plastic surgery, has left him looking like the Hollywood leading man he is.

Ricky Gervais Rags on Plastic Surgery

Posted on October 22nd, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Dana Jackson

Ricky Gervais may have just hit it big on this side of the pond, but he’s already decided not to indulge in Hollywood’s favorite pastime: plastic surgery.

Ricky Gervais, Plastic Surgery

48-year old funny man Ricky Gervais is proud of his unconventional looks and has no plans to alter them.

He says, “I suppose I’m a bit fitter than I was, but not because of Hollywood,” he said to ITN. “The first thing I’d do if I wanted to blend into Hollywood is, actually, starve myself and get new teeth and take roles where I’m a real romantic lead. Which would be hilarious; that won’t happen.”

“Oh, God no!” he said to ITN. “I saw this episode of Housewives of New Jersey and they had Botox parties. They just sit there, being injected. What are you doing? And facial surgery? You might die. ‘Oh, it’s worth it.’ No, it isn’t worth it. Let’s just have the face we were born with, shall we?”

Plastic surgeon Dr Sherrell J Aston says, “Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion about injectables and Plastic Surgery. I understand Mr. Gervais feelings towards Botox and I try to remind patients that their results may vary. Some patients like the results more than others and at the end of the day it is a personal decision. With that said, Botox should always be used in moderation for the best results.”

Plastic surgeon Dr Richard Ellenbogen says, “Ricky Gervais is perfect as he is: a character actor who became a leading man, He is ‘Mr. Every Man.’ His smile is as contagious as a yawn: he smiles, you smile. He is smart enough to realize he is the complete package.”

“Of course you could remove his jowls and refine his neck and then you could keep going until you had a modern day Henry Fonda look-alike, but who would want that?”

Fans of Ricky can see him in the rom-com The Invention of Lying, featuring actress Jennifer Garner, who has used plastic surgery, especially lip augmentation to further her career (See Make Me Heal’s story on Jennifer Garner’s plastic surgery).

Hugh Jackman Tops Plastic Surgery List

Posted on October 21st, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Ruby Marr

After being voted People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, Hugh Jackman has also reportedly topped the list of the most requested face for plastic surgery patients.

Hugh Jackman, Plastic Surgery

At 41, Hugh Jackman doesn’t seem to have gone under the knife himself, but that doesn’t mean that males around the world aren’t yearning to look just like the multi-talented performer (See Make Me Heal’s story on Hugh Jackman’s plastic surgery).

To find out why Hugh’s looks are so desirable lately, Make Me Heal checked in with our panel of experts to see what they think of Hugh’s looks and which celebrities top their patients’ lists of whom to emulate.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Spalding Drive Cosmetic Surgery says, “As Hugh Jackman’s features are desirable, I am yet to encounter a request from any of my patients for their procedure to be modeled off his looks. I typically like to tailor a patients desires to what would best suit them as an individual, rather than try and duplicate the features of someone else.”

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr Jennifer Walden says, “It is no surprise that Hugh Jackman is one of the most “requested faces” amongst plastic surgeons. He has very masculine and defined facial features that many men are interested in when they seek plastic or reconstructive surgery. Some of the other famous faces that are often requested are power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.”

Plastic surgeon Dr Sherrell J Aston says, “I agree that Mr. Jackman has classic good looks that most men want and yes, some men have requested his specific features. But most men just want to be better versions of them selves (as do most women).”

On the other hand, not everyone feels that looking like Hugh is optimal. Many other celebrities may be preferred.

Plastic surgeon Dr Richard Ellenbogen says, “Why Robert Rey would receive plastic surgical requests for Hugh Jackman’s face is beyond me. He doesn’t operate on men or faces to my knowledge…oh well the media has a lot of space to fill.”

“I do a lot of noses…George Clooney is number one…and for some reason Yasmine Bleeth was requested as was Sharon Stone…one girl requested Julia Roberts’ nose, but I think Julia’s nose is her weakest feature; she is the epitome of perfect eyes and smile.”

Make Me Heal thinks that plastic surgery works best when people are an enhanced version of themselves, not trying to be someone they’re not. However, no one in their right mind would turn down the opportunity to be as handsome as Hugh.

Jon Gosselin Wants More Plastic Surgery

Reality star Jon Gosselin must now be one of the most talked about people ever. New rumors have surfaced indicating that Jon may be looking to get more plastic surgery to start looking camera ready for the ladies.

Jon Gosselin, Plastic Surgery

At 32, Jon has already had hair transplants to help thicken the appearance of his thinning hair as well as had teeth whitening procedures. (Read Make Me Heal’s story on Jon Gosselin’s plastic surgery). According to gossip columns, the almost single father of eight is considering going under the knife again, to get more hair plugs as well as some Botox injections and some liposuction as well.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Ellenbogen, “Jon Gosselin gets paparazzied more than anybody. He is tired of looking balding and chunky. It’s funny how most of the buzz about him is negative with a totally unflattering picture of himself. ‘Crap,’ he must say, ‘I look like crap. I need to look better…not to get new woman but for my own self image…okay you paparazzi after the surgery try and make me look pathetic now.’”

While some may argue that a man with eight children and an ex-wife on the way has more things to worry about than his appearance, Jon Gosselin is not your average divorce situation. Jon is frequently photographed and he can’t be thrilled that while Kate looks great in a bikini, he packs more than a little paunch. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Kate Gosselin’s plastic surgery).

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Spalding Drive Cosmetic Surgery says, “Jon Gosselin does not appear to show any drastic signs of aging.  It would probably be of his best interest to hold off for a while, as he may get more out of any procedures a bit later in life.”

As Jon has been seen with various women since leaving Kate, and weren’t his supposed girlfriend Hailey Glassman, a source has said, ““He is sick of the fat jokes, and he knows he needs to look better to get the girls he wants. Jon’s hoping lipo will take off 20 to 30 pounds and make him look more desirable.”

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. Jennifer Walden says, “I think the best option for John Gosselin would be a healthy diet and exercise regimen.  Liposuction can be a great tool for stubborn areas that might not go away with diet and exercise, but for areas where a significant amount of fat needs to be removed, good old fashioned aerobic exercise with a healthy diet is the best option.”

Make Me Heal looks forward to following the divorce saga as it continues to twist and turns and wonders if Jon’s girlfriend’s father will have a part in his new plastic surgery.

Melrose Place Stars Return to Primetime with Plastic Surgery

Posted on October 13th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Dana Jackson

In Hollywood it seems that everything comes around again. The most recent Hollywood redo is Melrose Place, the popular nighttime drama of the 1990s. With many of the original stars rumored to be appearing on the new version of the show, Make Me Heal wondered what plastic surgery the stars have had over the years to compete with their younger counterparts.

Since the original Melrose Place ended, 41-year old Laura Leighton has been filling her time by making appearances on various television shows and having her family. But the mother of two may also have had some Botox injections to keep her camera-ready.

Laura Leighton, Plastic Surgery

New York plastic surgeon Dr David Shafer says, “In comparing then and now pictures, Laura Leighton appears to have aged well. She has lost a little weight and retained her good looks. Her skin is smooth and as it was previously. However, she may have some Botox effect as well.”

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “Laura Leighton looks just as great now as she did then. Part of this is due to her natural beauty, and it could partially be due to a few minor procedures. Her nose looks a bit narrower than it once was, and she may have had a tiny bit of Botox in the forehead as it looks quite smooth.  Other than that I do not see anything that had work. “

Heather Locklear may be the most famous Melrose Place alum. But how far would the 48-year old have come without some plastic surgery?

Heather Locklear, Plastic Surgery

In the past, Make Me Heal has reported that Heather has had various plastic surgeries over the years to help her stay young and relevant under Hollywood’s harsh lights. Heather is rumored to have had a breast augmentation as well as facial procedures including facial fillers and Botox injections. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Heather Locklear’s plastic surgery).

Dr Shafer says, “Heather Lockler is still beautiful. She appears to have slightly fuller lips and cheeks, which may be due to fillers. Her forehead appears higher than previously and eyebrows have changed shape. She may have the Botox effect or, possibly, a brow lift causing these changes.”

In addition, Heather may have also had more invasive work, like a facelift and/or necklift as well as lip augmentation.

OcBody.com plastic surgeon Dr John Di Saia says, “Heather Locklear has had facial work including probably a facelift , eyes, forehead lift and mid-face lift plus or minus cheek implants. A bit heavy on the lip filler but this is so common.”

Dr. Nassif says, “Heather’s lips appear a bit more puffy, she may have had a filler such as Restylane injected. She may have had some Botox around her face as well, as her smile almost looks like it is being stopped in its tracks. Other than that, I do not see any other work evident. Heather is always naturally beautiful and not necessarily in need of any intervention. “

50-year old Thomas Calabro is also returning to his character on the new Melrose Place, reprising his role as Dr. Michael Mancini. It seems the “doctor” may have paid a visit to one of his real-life counterparts for some Botox injections to make him look as young as handsome as his first time playing the character.

Thomas Calabro, Plastics Surgery

Dr Shafer says, “Thomas Calabro appears to have Botox effect on his forehead and between his brows. He also has a “comb forward” hair style which appears to be masking a receding hairline.”

Dr. Nassif says, “Thomas looks great, and I do not see the possibility of any work done. There is a chance he may have had some Botox, but it is unlikely. “

39-year old Josie Bissett looks as though she may be aging gracefully, without injections or invasive cosmetic surgery, although there have been rumors of a breast augmentation in her past.

Josie Bissett, Plastic Surgery

Dr Shafer says, “Josie Bissett is aging gracefully. She does not appear to have any invasive plastic surgery. However, she looks just as beautiful now as she did back then.”

On the other hand, Josie may have had some upper face work as some photos seem to reveal a well-done forehead lift and possible eyelift and nose job as well.

Dr Di Saia says, “Josie Bisset may have had just her eyes and forehead lifted. Face is a bit wider. Nice.”

Dr. Nassif says, “Josie Bissett appears to have a narrower nose than she used to, almost appearing too narrow on the lower part of her bridge. She appears to have had some Botox in her face as well, possibly around the eyes and forehead. “

On the eve of turning 47, Daphne Zuniga is also rumored to be making an appearance on the new Melrose Place. Unlike her peers, she appears to be in need of a little help from plastic surgery, rather than havehttp:

Daphne Zuniga, Plastic Surgery

Dr Shafer says, “Compared to many of the other celebrities, Daphne does not have a Botox effect. However, she would benefit from some targeted Botox Cosmetic in her forehead and around her eyes.”

Dr. Nassif says, “Daphne Zuniga appears to be aging beautifully. It is not apparent to me she has had anything done, possibly some Botox in the forehead but that is about it. “

Dr Di Saia says, “Daphne Zuniga has had little if any work. She could use a little skin care as she looks like the sun has been inflicting damage on her for years.”

It’s been a while since the old gang has been together and Make Me Heal hopes the plastic surgery makes all the drama as good as the first time around.

Plastic Surgery Runs in Sylvester Stallone’s Family

Posted on October 6th, 2009 in Awful/Bad Plastic Surgery, Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Jet H. Ross

Whether you prefer him as Rocky or Rambo, Sylvester Stallone has never been afraid of a fight and it looks like he’s not afraid of the knife either, undergoing various plastic surgery procedures over the years. Sly debuted his latest look at the Venice Film Festival.

Sly Stone, Plastic Surgery

63-year old Sly showed up at the Venice Film Festival looking dapper in a pin-striped suit and fresh from the plastic surgeon’s office. He was even spotted sporting scars on his forehead indicating a recent browlift.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “The pictures of Sylvester Stallone show signs of face and forehead lift - including visible scars. His brows also show an unnatural peak and skin bunching laterally. He does look improved from previous post-op photos, presumably the improvement has come as the swelling has resolved and the tissues have softened.”

This clearly wasn’t the fit actor’s first trip under the knife, as in the past, he has not only used injectable wrinkle-fighter Botox, but also has had a facelift and possible blepharoplasty surgeries to help show off his dark brown eyes. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Sylvester Stallone’s Botox). His skin may also be benefiting from chemical peels from time to time to help maintain his youthful looks.

On his blog a while back, plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn reports, “I noticed on the interview that he had a nice, sharp jawline, which is pretty uncommon for a 61 year old man. This could be a sign of a facelift. Other than that, his eyelids show remarkably little aging in the photos above. This may be a sign of well-done blepharoplasty surgeries. He also appears to take good care of this skin, possibly with chemical peels and medical grade skin care. It’s also possible that some of his “nutritional” supplements may affect the way he looks, although I wouldn’t be able to comment much on that.”

More recently, Dr. Youn blogged, “Interesting photos on Dlisted.com show what appears to be open browlift scars on Sylvester Stallone. In this close-up picture you can see the scar extending along the hairline, very consistent with what you might find with an open hairline browlift. Plus, his eyebrows are over-arched in the photos, a possible consequence of Botox (or Dysport).”

“I haven’t performed an open browlift in over five years. Although many fantastic surgeons use this procedure, I have never seen a hairline browlift scar I liked. For this reason, I perform almost exclusively the Endotine Endoscopic Browlift. Scars are much shorter with less risk of numbness and chronic pain. The results may be less permanent and predictable than with an open browlift, however.”

“Sly better watch out. He’s starting to resemble Burt Reynolds…”

Sly may not look 63, but he is starting to look as bizarre as his mother, Jackie, another notorious case of bad plastic surgery. Jackie has had so much work over the years that we shudder to contemplate the number of facelifts and fillers that have gone into making the 88-year old woman look ageless.

Jackie Stallone, Plastic Surgery

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, Calif., said, “Sylvester Stallone’s mom may have had facelift, combined with browlift, and various fillers injected around her face. This is mainly evident in her lips, which show a little bit more pout than they normally would. She may have gone a tad too far trying to halt the aging process. She is a naturally pretty woman, and it may have worked to her advantage to back down on the surgery a bit.”

His borderline bizarre looks aside; Make Me Heal enjoys Sly’s action-packed films and looks forward to seeing the next installment of Rambo on the big screen.

Merman’s Plastic Surgery Transformation

Posted on October 2nd, 2009 in Awful/Bad Plastic Surgery, Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Jet H. Ross

Kitty Madison is a Dutch woman who was not only born the wrong the gender but the wrong species as well. To correct the problem, she has spent money on plastic surgery and devices that allow her to live life as mermaid-like as possible.

Merman, Plastic Surgery

According to an article in Vice magazine, Kitty-Madison explains that her dreams of being a mermaid began when she was 15 and saw the movie Splash, starring Daryl Hannah. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Daryl Hannah’s plastic surgery).

Kitty-Madison says:

“I was born as a boy. It’s a fact that I’m in the wrong skin. But the fact that I wanted to become a mermaid has just enforced my feminine side. I’ve got tattoos on my arms because I tried to live like a man for a long time. In the end there was only one solution, become a woman or end it all.”

“After I saw the movie I just had one dream: To try and live my life like a mermaid. I just couldn’t let go. Despite all the people who criticized me and didn’t believe in my perseverance, strength, and love for mermaids, I still carried on. I tried to live out the myth as much as possible. And diving with compressed air just isn’t an option, so I learned how to free dive. This meant that I could stay underwater for long times without oxygen tanks. And of course I needed a tail. My first one I made from an old legging and fins. I kept on trying different techniques to improve my tail. But some wore out really fast and others couldn’t take the chlorine. After much experimenting, I met a guy at a diving convention who makes custom diving suits. He made my first mono-fin. Later, when I became Kitty-Madison, I bought the same tail that Daryl Hannah wore in the movie. Orange with glitters, custom made for me. I immediately felt a lot better. I love the water and by then I could stay under water for several minutes easily. But still something from my dream was missing. I was a male mermaid.”

“The last step to my mermaid existence was a transition. From this moment on my name is Kitty-Madison. My old neighbor was named Kitty and I loved that name so much that I just took it as my own. The mermaid from Splash is called Madison. My dream was almost fulfilled but the preparations for the surgery involved a lot of emotional pain. As a boy I often felt that my gender was wrong, and to top it of I wanted to become a mermaid. When I was a man I feared many times that I wouldn’t be able to achieve my goals, and that was a really painful realization. But after some time I approached a specialized gender team that helps you with the process of becoming a woman. After 30 minutes I realised that it would take too long and that it wouldn’t make me any happier. Besides, I felt that they wouldn’t understand my dream of becoming a mermaid. My life was hanging by a thread, I didn’t want to continue living this way.”

“After this difficult period in my life I decided to take matters into my own hands. I found my own gender-psychologist and after only four weeks I got the go-ahead. They put me on hormones, which made me tired and restless. I couldn’t even be a mermaid for a while. I never had any real physical pain, but the emotional pain is still very deep from when I was a boy and to this day. I lost a lot of people around me in that stage of transition. But I guess they aren’t real friends. To this day I still get hateful comments from strangers on my blogs.”

“Living as a mermaid requires huge financial sacrifices. But I don’t mind spending money on things that I truly want. I keep my tail in a fire-safe room. It’s my most valuable possession. Not just financially but also emotionally. And I had to buy more stuff to make my dream come true. A real mermaid can see underwater and never gets water up her nose, so I needed to find solutions for those problems. I bought special lenses without corrective strength, about an inch in diameter, so the water can’t get into my eyes. And I’ve got a tom nose, the same silicone plugs that they use in synchronised swimming. You just put them up your nose and nobody can tell you’re wearing them.”

“Now I’m a happy person. I ride my bike, I swim, and I take yoga to keep fit for my life as a mermaid. I’m in the pool four, five times a week. The first time I dove into the pool with my fin I had some very mixed emotions. Go for it, it’s your dream, isn’t it? But on the other hand, what if I drown. But now I’m so experienced in swimming that I’ve started my own company. I give workshops to teach people how to swim like a mermaid and you can book me for a show. I’m not making any money off my business but it suits me. If I could make real money with this I would never want to work again. I feel so much love for life as a mermaid that I would give up my real life. I’m glad that nobody made me choose between me lives. I really love my boyfriend, but if he tries to make me give up my life as a mermaid, I would choose life as Kitty-Madison the mermaid.”

Plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “If this story is true, I am not quite sure what procedure would be required. The tail is obviously prosthetic and removable.”

Other famous transgendered individuals include Chaz Bono who may or may not undergo surgery to complete his transformation (See Make Me Heal’s story on Chaz Bono’s plastic surgery).

Kitty-Madison is certainly a bizarre story of plastic surgery and Make Me Heal hopes her tail (sorry) has a happy ending like the Disney version of The Little Mermaid.

Gary Busey’s Bad Plastic Surgery Coming to Theater Near You

Posted on September 28th, 2009 in Awful/Bad Plastic Surgery, Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Lisa Stern

65-year old Gary Busey’s personal life has made him nearly as famous as his on-screen antics. From arrests to motorcycle accidents, Gary’s active lifestyle has taken a toll on his face that plastic surgery did very little to correct.

While some have speculated that Gary’s uneven eyes are the result of a botched facelift or eyelid surgery, Make Me Heal believes it is more likely that they are a consequence of the motorcycle accident Gary experienced.

On his blog, plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn explains:

“I understand that Gary Busey was in a terrible motorcycle accident some time ago, which caused significant brain damage and possibly also facial bone fractures. The head injury could explain his extra-friendly behavior to Jennifer Garner on the red carpet of the Oscars, and an orbit fracture can explain the asymmetry in his eyes. He may have a condition of his left eye called orbital dystopia, which occurs when the floor of the eye socket is fractured, causing the eyeball to migrate downward. It is frequently combined with enopthalmos, where the eyeball becomes sunken in due to similar factors. It can be improved via facial recontruction surgery, often using bone from his skull or a titanium plate to remake the floor of his eye socket.”

While Gary’s eyes certainly give him a jarring appearance, part of his plasticized look come from his apparent dental veneers.

Plastic surgeon Dr Sherrell J Aston says, “It does appear that Mr. Busey has had dental veneers. They may be a little bit large in some people’s judgment.”

Ocbody.com Surgeon John Di Saia MD says, “I think he had them a while ago. They seem too large. Maybe he had them redone.”

While straight, white teeth are often taken as a sign of youth, when they are too perfect they can end up looking like false teeth and actually age a person, as in the case of young Ali Lohan(See Make Me Heal’s story on Ali Lohan’s dental veneers).

New York plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “It certainly looks like Gary Busey has dental veneers. Veneers can often look strange if they are too perfect.”

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, Calif., said, “It is likely that Gary Busey had veneers. Veneers can look like perfect teeth, which are evident on Gary.”

His odd looks and behavior problems aside; Gary is still a talented actor. You can see the Oscar-nominated actor next in Brian DePalma’s upcoming film Down and Distance.
