  • You may know Alan Thicke from his days as the dad on Growing Pains, or from his recent hosting career. But you may not know that actor/host is also an avid amateur hockey fan, which cost him his front teeth, leaving him with a need for some cosmetic dentistry.

64-year old Alan Thicke was playing hockey with his pals when he lost several of this front teeth.

“I play every week and I guess I used to be a better puck-ducker,” jokes Thicke, who has been playing hockey since childhood. “During one of the pick-up games, I got in the way of a slap shot and it cost me five teeth and 30 stitches both inside the mouth and outside.”

“It actually didn’t hurt that much because you just go into shock,” Thicke adds. “The body’s response mechanism to major injury I guess protects you from the pain. I bent over. Saw teeth. Saw blood. My DNA was all over the ice and I thought, ‘I guess I’d better go home.’ So I went home and got my insurance card and drove myself to the hospital.”

“I’m a Canadian, a father and a hockey veteran, and the truth is I was wearing a helmet and a visor,” Thicke states. “I could have worn a full face cage, which I have worn in the past, but wasn’t wearing this time. And I wasn’t wearing a mouth guard. I could have gone the extra step to be safe.”

Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “Cosmetic dentistry is very popular amongst athletes.  With all the public appearances and smiling they do for photographs, a good smile is very important.  Cosmetic dentistry has come a long way and most procedures can be done in a very short time and with minimal pain and recovery. A scar can sometimes be considered sexy, but a missing tooth rarely is, if ever.”

If all Alan had was a scar, a scar treatment might have done the trick. Alan has since recovered since the incident in 2003 and is likely back on the ice with more safety equipment.

It is better than earbuds are good for iphones, apple iphones, and also portable mp3′s. Many people take the entire audio place that you’re allowed to be tuning in. Remaining powered earphones you also acquire elevated size. Your head mugs are well shock absorbing, delivering a high level of ease for lengthy tuning in
