Thanks to the Internet, everyone in America is familiar with the British talent show, Britain’s Got Talent, which elevated frowsy Scotswoman Susan Boyle to fame. But not only the contestants are enjoying international fame as the show’s judge Amanda Holden is preparing to make her stateside debut, with some admitted plastic surgery.
The 38-year old blond beauty recently posed wearing very little of the glamorous make-up she sports on the show, thanks to Botox injections which Amanda Holden freely admits to using.
According to the Daily Mail, Amanda says, “I have had Botox, which I’m happy to admit. It’s running out now, though – I need to go again.”
Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “Amanda Holden: Amanda has had Botox and it looks great. She could use a bit more in her crow’s feet area. She also may have had some filler in her cheeks when comparing to previous photos.”
While Amanda has freely admitted to using Botox, she has also said she will never have more drastic plastic surgery because her skin scars easily:
“The problem is that I’ve got keloid skin which means I scar really easily. So if I had surgery, I’d have worms of scar marks everywhere, so that’s not going to work for me.”
“One day I’ll look my age. Actually, that’s a lie – I want to look like Joan Rivers. I don’t see the point in growing old gracefully.”
Plastic surgeon Dr. Jennifer Walden says, “It looks as if Amanda Holden is being honest about her use of Botox. While this celebrity judge has done an excellent job of retaining a youthful appearance through injectables, her features do not look as if they’ve been altered surgically”.
Amanda denies having collagen in her lips, but she also says that someday she will have fillers, like Juvderm or Restylane, placed in the lines around her mouth, but has been holding off for now.
Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, Calif., said, “Amanda Holden has openly admitted that she gets Botox injections. Most likely, the injections are located in her forehead as her lateral eyebrows are elevated and her medial eyebrow (next to her nose) is low. They’re clearly working for her as she looks fantastic!”
Amanda first began getting Botox injections in 2007 while she was filming Wild at Heart in South Africa and noticed lines around her eyes from squinting into the hot African sun.
She reveals, “I could see the make-up artist having to cake over the creases around my eyes more and more and I just hated it. It was really starting to annoy me and once I’d noticed it, that was it. So I went to a place in South Africa for Botox and that was that.”
For Amanda, getting Botox injections are as routine as getting your teeth cleaned or your roots done.
“Oh no, I agree with Simon Cowell. It’s like cleaning your teeth – maintenance.”
“It’s like getting your roots done. I think as long as you don’t go stupidly over the top…I can move my face.”
“You can still see I’ve got some Botox in my forehead but the rest has virtually worn off. Yes, I think it’s character and everything else, but f*** it! That’s why I need to get it done again.”
Simon Cowell is one of Amanda’s co-judges on Britain’s Got Talent and is also himself a notorious Botox user. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Simon Cowell’s plastic surgery).
Amanda Holden looks fantastic with her Botox use, but taking plastic surgery to the extreme of Joan Rivers is never a good idea—unless you’re Joan Rivers.
