  • Angelina has been jet setting around the world with more than just her large family these days. Recently she’s added some strange lines around her neck and jaw area, leading to speculation of plastic surgery.

34-year old Angelina Jolie was at the center of a debate as to whether or not she’d had a facelift last year, when she was photographed with scars behind her ears (See Make Me Heal’s story on Angelina Jolie’s facelift).

Now UsWeekly has consulted several plastic surgeons who say she may have had a facelift, after appearing earlier in the year at the BAFTA awards with strange striations at her jaw and more recently on a trip to Venice.

UsWeekly says that because Angelina has been spotted twice with the marks, the photographs must not be digitally enhanced and spoke with plastic surgeons who gave their view on the strange marks.

Most felt that they could not just be the result of strong facial marks, but the result of some form of plastic surgery.

Dr. Elie Levine, who has not treated Jolie, says that it appears she’s “received Botox to her face and likely her neck” because she shows “no wrinkles along the sides of her eyes (the crow’s feet) despite that very large smile… and her forehead is smooth.”

He went on to add that as Botox paralyzes muscles, “recruit other muscles that are not regularly used to twisting the neck and smiling widely.”

Beverly Hills-based Dr. Gabriel Chiu believes Angelina may have had a “minimally invasive procedure” — such as Gore-Tex injected into her face — to lift and suspend “the tissues in her neck, jaw line and lower face.”

Dr. Brian Glatt concurs. “Angelina appears to have had a procedure done to tighten her lower face, neck, and jaw line such as a mini or lower facelift,” he says.

On the other hand, Dr. Andrew Jacano says the skin was not lifted far enough back if she did have a facelift, explaining, “Think of it like making your bed. If you don’t pull the sheets tight enough, they’ll appear wrinkled and bunched at the corners.”

And Angelina may not have had any plastic surgery at all.

Dr. Lyle M. Back says that the strange muscles may be due to Angelina’s low body fat, similar to body builders.

“Body builders love to employ a variety of techniques to get their skin looking this thin so that the judges can actually see the striations and fiber lines in their muscles through their skin,” he adds.

Meanwhile the doctors consulted by Hollywood Life seem to think that the photos themselves have been doctored to give Angelina an especially creepy appearance.

“This photo is likely doctored and airbrushed. It’s blown up and looks distorted anyway, but if you look at the texture of the forehead, neck, chin and cheek mound right under her glasses, it is grainier and more pixilated than the back of the jaw,” NYC-based facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Pearlman tells HollywoodLife.com.

He adds, “This looks like a very quick airbrush.”

Agrees Torrance, Calif.-based cosmetic plastic surgeon Dr. Christine Petti, “This photograph looks doctored. That’s no even where any plastic surgeon would put a scar, which would be around the ear.”

Dr. Petti adds, “This is not a real photograph. It looks touched up. Angelina Jolie is a perfect example of the divine proportions of beauty. She is the epitome of beauty.”

The opinions on both sides are so convincing, Makemeheal.com doesn’t know what to think of Angelina’s strange new look.
