Sylvester Stallone’s ex-wife, Brigitte Nielsen, was most recently seen on the reality TV show, Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew trying to cope with her alcoholism. Now, the 44-year old model and actress is planning on undergoing numerous plastic surgeries while a TV crew films the operations for a three-part program to be broadcasted on German TV channel RTL. Other than Gene Simmons and his wife Shannon Tweed (read the story on Gene Simmons’s Plastic Surgery), this will be the only other time a celebrity will have their plastic surgeries filmed in all their gory details for television.
According to Brigitte, she will receive, “a complete renewal: facelift, eyelift, fat injections in my face, liposuction, a breast lift and I need new teeth.”
During a facelift procedure, the surgeon will place tiny incisions within the hair line and within the natural contours of the ear, then pull the skin up and back and remove any excess skin for a younger, tighter appearance. An eyelift, or blepharoplasty, corrects drooping upper eyelids and/or puffy bags under the eyes and may or may not be performed under general anesthesia. The surgeon will make tiny incisions in the natural creases of the eyes and then remove excess skin, muscle, and fat to produce the desired effect. Fat injections help fill in deep hollows and creases for a more full and youthful appearance.
Although Brigitte doesn’t say what areas of the body she is having liposuction performed on, it is often used on areas like the tummy and thighs to improve the body’s contour by removing fat from between the skin and muscle. A breast lift raises and firms the breasts through the removal of excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue with an incision made around the areola and going straight down, lifting the areola to a more youthful position. Make Me Heal hopes that Brigitte is exaggerating her need for new teeth and is only getting veneers placed on her existing teeth, rather than actually getting new teeth through means of implants, which can be a lengthy process.
With the program focusing on her plastic surgery, Brigitte hopes to break the barriers surrounding plastic surgery and eliminate the mystery about the way women in Hollywood age.
“I know I am the first female celebrity in the world who has allowed herself to be filmed like that in an operating theater. I know I will be breaking a taboo. But I’m sure that it will provoke a new discussion. It’s time things change. I feel 30 and want to look that way again. The secrecy in Hollywood is annoying. You can see that the stars do not age naturally. It’s not right that the fans, the normal women, are lied to.”
This will not be Brigitte’s first experience having plastic surgery, as she is the proud owner of breast implants big enough to befit her statuesque build. Twenty years ago, Brigitte appeared on the cover of Playboy magazine and she intends to celebrate her new body by appearing in the iconic publication’s December 2008 issue.
Brigitte gained popularity by starring in several B-movies in the ’80s, including Rocky IV, with her former husband Sylvester Stallone, who has had his share of plastic surgery as well. (Read Make Me Heal‘s story on Sylvester Stallone’s plastic surgery). The Danish-born entertainer has recently been rejuvenating her career by appearing on reality TV shows around the world.
While Brigitte’s desire to educate the public and demystify the secrecy surrounding celebrity plastic surgery is as much a cheap publicity stunt to resuscitate her career, Make Me Heal salutes her openness about surgery. Make Me Heal hopes that Brigitte’s surgery is more successful than Sly’s and she doesn’t end up with the plasticized face the iconic actor has acquired through excessive surgery.
