  • Mere days after the blogosphere showed off Bristol Palin’s new look, the teenage mother opened up about her new face.

20-year old Bristol Palin appeared at a recent even with a decidedly different look, leading many to speculate that the controversial spokesperson had gone under the knife, undergoing a chin augmentation at the very least (See Make Me Heal’s story on Bristol Palin’s plastic surgery makeover).

In an interview with UsWeekly, Bristol says that she didn’t have plastic surgery, but corrective surgery.

“It’s not plastic surgery,” she tells Us Weekly exclusively in the new issue, out Wednesday.

She explains: “I had corrective jaw surgery” back in December 2010.

Yes,” she admits, “It improved the way I look, but this surgery was necessary for medical reasons…so my jaw and teeth could properly realign…I don’t obsess over my face.”

“I am absolutely thrilled with the results,” she says. “I look older, more mature, and don’t have as much of a chubby little baby face!”

Bristol also said that the procedure forced her to lose weight, a total of five pounds, leading many suspect that she may have also had some liposuction on her chin, for her change to be so apparent.

OcBody plastic surgeon Dr. John Di Saia says, ” I called the jaw surgery. It can sometimes be indicated medically. How would she like the explain the other work?”

On his blog, plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn says, ” Although she hasn’t explained the exact procedure, I speculate that it’s very similar to the surgery I underwent as a teenager.  People who have either extra small or extra large jaws can undergo plastic surgery where the jaw is broken in two places and then either advanced forward or set back.  This can help cosmetically (as it did for me) and functionally (to improve eating, speech, etc.).  It’s an extremely painful procedure.”

“I had my jaw broken and set back, then wired shut for six weeks.  I describe the ordeal in my tell-all plastic surgery book In Stitches.  Newer techniques allow most patients to avoid the wiring shut for six weeks in exchange for braces and rubber bands.  Overall, Bristol looks great.  I wonder if she may have had some liposuction under her chin done at the same time…”

Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “Bristol Palin’s look has dramatically changed recently.  Her face is thin and more sculpted looking.  Her chin has been augmented most likely with an implant as well as liposuctioning the chin, neck and cheek areas giving her whole lower face a more defined and angular look.”

Bristol’s facial appearance has changed so dramatically that it seems reasonable to suspect that some cosmetic procedure took place, along with her corrective jaw surgery.
