The Only Way Is Essex star Lauren Pope has had a few transformations over the years, bouncing from careers as a sexy glamour model to a television presenter and reality star. The only thing that Lauren has maintained is a love of plastic surgery.
31-year-old Lauren Pope has been open about her use of plastic surgery, including getting dental veneers to achieve her perfectly straight white smile, having a nose job and two breast augmentations—the second one becoming a medical necessity after the first disastrous one.
Lauren was one of the 40,000 women in Europe affected by the faulty French Poly Implant Prothese (PIP), which is why she needed a second breast augmentation after the first procedure went wrong.
The reality star explains, “The lady that works for my surgeon rang me quite late at night, it was about ten o’clock when I got the call,” she said during an appearance on ITV1 documentary The Silicon Scandal. “Her phone number came up on my phone and I thought, “Oh God, it’s not going to be good news.”
Lauren had opted to get breast implants as way to boost her career as a glamour model and was confused when she was told that she would need to replace them so quickly.
She said, “Just to let you know, you have got those implants, the English government aren’t saying you have to have them out yet, but the French are,” Lauren recalled.
“Because I hadn’t really paid attention, I didn’t know whether it was really bad, and so straight away my gut feeling was like, “Oh my God, I’m going to have to have another boob job!”
Although she was initially reluctant to go under the knife again so quickly, Lauren took the opportunity to increase her implant size slightly and allowed the procedure to be filmed for her reality show, TOWIE.
According to Lauren, she was aware of some of the risks of breast implants from the get go, saying, “They do tell you you might have to have another boob job after 15 or 20 years just for safety reasons, but I always said that I would never have it done again, I’d rather let them rot inside me, I do not want to go through that again.”
“So I thought, ‘Oh my god, I’m going to have to have it done again,’ but then my next thought was, and this probably sounds really bad, that I could actually get a new pair of bigger boobs.”
Lauren has since become a fan of plastic surgery, also having “his and hers” nose jobs with her then-boyfriend Kirk Norcross, to remove a bump on her nose that displeased her, but ultimately made very little difference in her appearance.
She told Heat magazine: “I was like, “Oh, it looks the same! What can I have done next?” I think people will look at me and think, what was the point? But it got rid of the bump I hated.”
“I wanted the tip of mine shaping as well,’” she said. “But it was so weak, where I’ve had work before, the surgeon said I’d run the risk of it collapsing.”
In addition to a nose job and breast implants, it is also likely that Lauren uses Botox to contour her face and keep her skin smooth.
