  • Musical legend and sometimes actress Cher has returned to the stage for a three-year engagement at the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.  But before taking on the Strip, Cher dropped back in at the surgeon’s office for some more plastic surgery.

    Cher, Plastic Surgery

After being spotted leaving medical buildings on Bedford Boulevard in Beverly Hills, CA and hiding her face,  the self-proclaimed “plastic surgery poster girl” sparked new rumors of having more work done. It’s hard to imagine what 62-year old Cher can find left to have tweaked, so Make Me Heal takes a look at Cher’s plastic fantastic past and present.

Cher’s involvement with plastic surgery began with a nose job. Cher says the first time she went under the knife was to have a rhinoplasty (nose job), after seeing herself on film for the first time.

Cher says, “I looked at myself up there on that screen and thought, I’m all nose.”

Since then, Cher has likely had more work on her nose to get it reduced to its current itsy bitsy shape.

Cher has openly admitted to spending a small fortune on plastic surgery but she has previously denied rumors about having cheek implants, a rib removed and a tummy tuck. The diva says, “I’ve had my cheekbones since I was small. And it is impossible to have a rib removed! When I heard that said of me I thought it particularly silly – but I will have to defend myself for the rest of my life against it.”

Although it is not impossible to have a rib removed, Cher may not have. She may have also had a tummy tuck in the meanwhile and liposuction to get rid of stubborn fat deposits that no longer respond to exercise.  Moreover, it’s likely that Cher has been resorting to some fat grafting like Madonna to plump up her face and possibly her naturally high cheekbone area (see the story on Madonna’s Fat Grafting Facelift).

She has been open about having a breast augmentation, which like many women, she had done after giving birth to her daughter Chastity, who is now 39. Cher says, “Oh, because they got so much bigger after Chastity was born, and I couldn’t bear to see them deflate.”

Cher has also had a facelift or two, or three to maintain her taut, youthful appearance as well as a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) to eliminate bags around her eyes as well as sagging eyelids that occur naturally with age.

In addition, Cher has used laser tattoo removal to remove her many tattoos. Cher likely also regularly uses laser treatments like Fraxel to maintain her youthful complexion. Not to mention all the injectable fillers and wrinkle treatments like Botox, Juvederm and Restylane she likely uses monthly to fill in or freeze wrinkles between her brows, on her forehead and around her mouth.

In February of this year, a haggard looking Cher started looking like she was losing her life-long battle against aging.  Signs of wrinkles around her eyes abounded and slight jowling and the appearance of folds under her neck (the dreaded turkey neck) took shape.  Cher also packed on some pounds.  But since signing her 3-year deal in Las Vegas, Cher has sprung back with a vengeance and is now back to her former, super-taut and wrinkle free look.

Cher has no plans to age gracefully, having said quite realistically:

“Everyone says I am terrified of getting old, but the truth is that in my job becoming old and becoming extinct are one and the same thing.”

Cher promises that her new Vegas show will have more sequins and glamour than the rest of the strip combined, and we believe it if her past performances are any indication.
