The virtual world is abuzz with the news that a Chinese woman wants to undergo a plastic surgery makeover to look like Hollywood star Jessica Alba, her ex-boyfriend’s dream girl.
21-year-old Xiaoqing says that her ex-boyfriend was obsessed with Jessica Alba, covering their apartment with photos and even buying her a blonde wig to wear. While Xiaoqing broke up with the man because of his obsession, she now wants him back badly enough to undergo plastic surgery.
Xiaoqing revealed to Reuters, “When I broke up with my boyfriend, I was very sad. My friends… kept consoling me but it did not work, so they suggested I do plastic surgery to look like her (Jessica Alba).”
The Shanghai Time Plastic Surgery Hospital has agreed to do Xiaoqing’s plastic surgery transformation for free in order to showcase their plastic surgery skills. Xiaoqing will need multiple surgeries to alter her eyes and nose.
Both the hospital director and bloggers have advised Xiaoqing not to undergo the surgery.
Even Jessica Alba herself has weighed in, reportedly saying, “If somebody loves you, they will love you no matter what.”
Xiaoqing says that if her boyfriend does not take her back after the procedures, she will stop trying.
Plastic surgery to look like a celebrity is common at the Shanghai Time Plastic Surgery Hospital, as is plastic surgery in China, which is thought to boost chances of getting married in a competitive market.
Jessica Alba may have undergone a breast augmentation in the past (See Make Me Heal’s story on Jessica Alba’s plastic surgery).
Plastic surgery to win back a lover seems a little extreme, but it’s not the craziest thing done in the name of love.
