  • Dana Delaney used to be a Desperate Housewife. Now that she’s moved on to a new television series, she has also admitted to trying Botox injections, and her bad experience.

54-year old Dana Delaney opened up about her experience with Botox in an interview with Prevention magazine.

    Dana Delany, Plastic Surgery

“Something nobody ever talks about is doctor error. Seven years ago, I had never even heard about Botox. My dermatologist was saying, “You should try it.” He injected my forehead, hit a nerve, and created a huge hematoma. The nerve has been dead ever since. It affected the muscle in my right eye, so my eye has started to droop a little bit. Now that I said this to you, everybody will look for it! I notice it more than anybody else, but I was symmetrical before and now I am not. I stopped going to him right then.”

“Doctorshttp://kona.kontera.com/javascript/lib/imgs/grey_loader.gif are human—they make mistakes. But I never went back, especially after he wouldn’t own up to it.”

Dana also won’t be trying any other plastic surgery in the future, saying, “I won’t do it, no.”

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, Calif., says, “After Botox, having a “droopy eyelid,” or a “ptosis” is not something that is not very common, and occurs about in about 2% of Botox injections. The Botox will travel to the muscle, and affect its function. This is something that will resolve itself in a few weeks.  If one were to experience this problem, it is important to speak to your physician right away, as he/she will be able to help determine the cause and any possible solutions.”

Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “It is not common to get a droopy eyelid from Botox, but it certainly can happen if over injected in that area.  Good news, is that is temporary and should improve in just a matter of days.  Always have your treatments performed by a specialist such as a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who has vast experience with Botox and knowledge of the anatomy of the face to avoid such a complication.”

Dana’s bad experience with Botox is unusual, but has been known to happen. Fans can see Dana on her new television show Body of Proof.
