  • Unlike many supermodels of today, the world’s oldest supermodel, Daphne Selfe, says that not getting plastic surgery has kept her career going.

83-year old Daphne Selfe is still walking runways and appearing in the pages of Vogue magazine. So what is her secret to staying beautiful? It’s not plastic surgery or Botox.

“I’ve never had anything done to my face,” Daphne tells The Daily Mail, “Not that poison, not a facelift. I think it’s a waste of money. Anyway, I couldn’t afford it!”
She says that her skin is the result of minimal skincare and good genes (her mother lived to the age of 95). However Daphne acknowledges that she never would have made it as a model if she had started today.

“I would never have made it starting out today,” she admits. “I was too short, just 5ft 7in, with wide shoulders from all the riding I did as a young girl. But no one ever asked me to lose weight. Rationing was in place until 1954, so you were always grateful to get good food.”

So what is the secret to aging for a model who has never taken time off for plastic surgery recovery?

According to Daphne,  “It’s going to happen, so why worry?” she explains. “I try to remain cheerful, not grumpy.” For example, “I’ve developed glaucoma, but the drops I have to put in my eyes have made my lashes grow! So there is always a plus side.”

Daphne certainly looks great and is an excellent role model for her younger peers.
