  • Since first rising to fame on the night time soap opera Desperate Housewives, actor Jesse Metcalfe has become as well known for his magnificent and large chest as he has for his inability to change expressions. Lately the handsome star has been going topless and his chest doesn’t look nearly as sizeable as it used to. Could the Dallas star have opted for a plastic surgery male breast reduction? Or maybe topless tennis is just a flattering camera angle for a full chest?

34-year old Jesse Metcalfe was spotted hitting the tennis courts in Los Feliz earlier this summer, bouncing balls back and forth with his fiancé Cara Santana. Although Jesse is frequently photographed without a shirt, the new photos seemed to reveal a more tight chest, which could have been done with plastic surgery.

Some men opt to have their full sized chests cut down to a better proportion with male breast reduction. Male breast reduction typically includes liposuction and possibly some type of surgery as well, in extreme cases. In Jesse’s case, if he did have the procedure, he probably only needed some liposuction to help bring his chest into proportion with the rest of his fit body.

If Jesse did have male breast reduction, he wouldn’t be the only physically fit actor to do so. Pro-wrestler/actor Dwayne Johnson, aka “The Rock,” admitted to having a chest reduction via liposuction back in 2005, when he felt like his chest had gotten too big and wasn’t looking good—especially as he frequently appears without a shirt on for his roles both in and out of the ring.

Many men opt for a reduction when they feel they have man boobs as a result of heredity, hormones or steroid use. Many man suffering from a big chest, known as gynecomastia, feel embarrassed to wear support undergarments and so look into surgery.

Surgery to treat gynecomastica is a relatively simple procedure in which liposuction is done via the nipple or armpit, to reduce the appearance of scars. Fat is then suctioned out. Usually treatment is an outpatient procedure, but can vary depending on the severity of the condition. In some cases, insurance may cover or partially cover the procedure, when it is a known medical condition, rather than a matter of aesthetics, as in The Rock’s case.

Some men with big chests don’t actually have gynecomastia, but a condition known as pseudogynecomastia, which is extra fat in the chest region, but it can be treated with diet and exercise. This could be the case for Jesse, as his muscles look more defined all over.

Although Jesse having a breast reduction is certainly a possibility, it could also be that he has just lost weight and toned up. His fiancé, Cara has abs that would be the envy of any man or woman, so it is possible that she encouraged him to change up his workout and ditch a few pounds to tone and tighten his body just a little more.

Based on Jesse’s body, it looks like the new season of Dallas will be even hotter than ever.
