Plastic surgery tends to be prevalent in the pageant world, so it is no surprise that the new Miss Hong Kong Carat Cheung has found herself at the center of plastic surgery rumors. Except the newly crowned queen says that the rumors are not true.
24-year old Miss Hong Kong 2012 Carat Cheung is undeniably good-looking, but apparently rumors of plastic surgery began circulating when photos of Carat were revealed, showing her with a slightly different look.
Allegations of plastic surgery include using Botox to slim her jawline and nose surgery to slim her nose and even had what is known as Asian double eyelid surgery to change her eyelids, according to AwfulPlasticSurgery.com. However, Carat says that the rumors are not true and the result of media gossip.
“When I first heard them, I felt they were very funny. They are creative. I understand that readers can be easily influenced by the media, no matter how much I explain. I can only use my actions to demonstrate my innocence,” she said.
She further insisted that the Miss Hong Kong pageant this year had emphasised on natural beauty, so it was not necessary for her to prove that she had not undergone plastic surgery.
“This year’s Miss Hong Kong standards stated that artificial beauties are not wanted. If I did receive the procedures, then I would have been disqualified!” she said.
Carat’s win was considered controversial due to a new voting system and the rumors of wrong-doing probably do not make it easier for the young beauty.
