According to the New York Post, Disney is casting only women with natural breasts for the next movie in the Pirates franchise. Which leaves Makemeheal.com wondering: what is so wrong with a little plastic surgery breast augmentation?
When Keira Knightley was cast for the first three Pirates movies, she wasn’t a stranger to plastic surgery, having undergone a lip augmentation and nose job (See Make Me Heal’s story on Keira Knightley’s plastic surgery).
However, Keira has a notoriously small bust, which costume and makeup designers had to enhance daily for her performance in Pirates.
“I am not that well endowed, so they literally painted in my cleavage,” she said.
“It took about 45 minutes every day for makeup artists to add shade and volume, and it looked fantastic until it got too hot shooting.”
For the new installment of Pirates, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,”directed by Rob Marshall and starring Johnny Depp, filmmakers sent out a casting call requesting, “beautiful female fit models. Must be 5ft7in-5ft8in, size 4 or 6, no bigger or smaller. Age 18-25. Must have a lean dancer body. Must have real breasts. Do not submit if you have implants.”
New York plastic surgeon Dr Jennifer Walden says, ”
The producers probably just want to cast women with natural-looking breasts since it is a period piece and plastic surgery with its resultant anatomical defiance of gravity was not available then. Also, standards of beauty during this time were different than they are now, so women with more voluptuous curves were revered. The irony of it all is that Keira Knightley has been scrutinized for her low body weight, yet they expect her to have real, “naturally” large breasts for the bustier look.”
Women as thin as Keira Knightley, but as naturally busty as breast augmentation fan Pamela Andersen are hard to find, and breast implants can eventually bounce just as well as the real thing, given time
Miami Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “Well, I would think the bigger the breasts, the bigger the bounce. If breast implants are placed under the muscle they could at first appear less bouncy, but as the muscles relax after recovery they should be able to bounce just like breast tissue.”
Make Me Heal looks forward to the next Pirates film, and seeing what sort of bosoms make the final cut.
