Drew Carey’s stand-up routine was based on the big guy’s appearance. Now that he has lost weight, Makemeheal.com wonders not only what he will joke about, but if he used plastic surgery.
52-year old Drew Carey says he has lost over 70 pounds. He says the weight loss is due to changed eating habits after suffering from a coronary angioplasty in 2001.
He told UsWeekly, “I just got sick of being fat,” he told Us Wednesday at the 2010 CBS Summer Press Tour Party in Beverly Hills.
Carey told Us he’s been following a cardio program, “so there’s nobody really standing over me. I do work with somebody who gives me advice on what to do, how many minutes to run, what my heart rate should be and all that kind of stuff.”
Carey still plans to lose more weight, so that he can live a long and healthy life.
Miami Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “ Liposuction is designed to eliminate isolated areas of fat on normal to slightly overweight individuals. Drew Carey looks as if he has lost over 50 pounds over his entire body. His face is very thin and that could not have been the result of liposuction. Liposuction is known to be a great motivator for patients to get in better shape and follow a healthier diet; however, I feel Drew most likely used lap band surgery to help him lose all his weight. With significant weight loss like this and being past the age where his skin would likely bounce back without sagging, he will most likely need a Tummy Tuck or Abdominoplasty surgery to get rid of any excess hanging abdominal skin. Other common post-lap band cosmetic procedures are Brachioplasty or arm lift, Thighlift, Breast lift and Lower body lift.”
While Carey’s weight loss may be due to diet and exercise, rather than liposuction or lap band surgery, he may also need plastic surgery in the future to get rid of any excess skin. Although if he continues to sport his signature business suits, that may not be necessary.
Board certified Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, ” Drew Carey looks great – he has had a tremendous weight loss. Liposuction is not used for weight loss, but to contour the fat that is there. I suspect that he has had some type of weight loss surgery such as the lap band or he has been very disciplined on a diet and aggressive exercise. Once the weight is office, patient often need surgery to remove the extra skin. For that, we would need to see pictures with his clothes off to know for sure…”
Make Me Heal wishes Drew the best of luck in his new healthy lifestyle.
