  • Actress Ellen Barkin has gone from playing the hottie to the attractive but strong female in many a film. Keeping her good looking is non-invasive plastic surgery, although the actress says she is against invasive forms of plastic surgery.

56-year old Ellen Barkin has a lot to say when it comes to plastic surgery. Makemeheal.com has previously reported that Ellen doesn’t believe in aggressive plastic surgery procedures like facelifts (See Make Me Heal’s story on Ellen Barkin’s plastic surgery), or Botox.

In a prior interview, Ellen has been quoted as saying:

“I think it’s dangerous. Women who have had major surgery are sending out the signal saying, ‘I’m not happy with where I am, so I want to be somewhere else – I want to be like I was at 30′,” says Barkin to First Magazine.

“I think face lifts make you look older not younger,” says Barkin.

“You look at them and think either they look crazy or awful.”

“For some of them, I will say, ‘Oh, wow! That looks like a beautiful woman (but) it just doesn’t look like the same beautiful woman.”

“I don’t have problems with fillers and non-invasive procedures,” she added. “I think a little bit of everything is OK, I’m fine with it all except Botox.”

“The whole Botox craze, what it says to me is ‘I am desperately unhappy with where I am in my life’s journey, I don’t like it, I want to disguise it, I want to erase it,’” Barkin tells More Magazine. “Like, ‘I’m not comfortable being 30, 40, 50, 60.’ And I have issues with that.

“I don’t want to see someone I’ve watched in movies for 20 years and not know who they are, with their eyebrows somewhere in the middle of their hairline.”

“What I’m not fine with is celebrities the same age as me whose bodies are buff and sculpted – they don’t look natural any more. If I see someone on screen whose face can’t move to express emotion, then I’m no longer interested in watching them act.”

Despite saying, “All of a sudden attention is drawn to, ‘Oh you need a face lift.’ I hope that I don’t buckle under it,” Ellen may be overdoing the non-invasive plastic surgery procedures, including Botox and facial fillers like Restylane and Juvederm as well as a lip augmentation.

Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “It does not appear that Ellen Barkin has had any cosmetic surgery to her face.  She does appear to have had dermal filler treatments to her lips and Botox to her forehead, but that’s about it.”

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “Ellen Barkin may have had a lip augmentation, Botox, and facial fillers. Any injections were performed conservatively, and it does not appear she had any additional work performed.”

Ellen looks good, if a little different than her earlier acting days back in the 1980s, with fans divided as to whether her plastic surgery is for better or worse.
