Coming up on the 20th anniversary of the popular sitcom Friends, Helen Baxendale, who played Emily the troublesome wife of series regular Ross, says that she will never have plastic surgery.
44-year old Helen Baxendale is best known to American audiences as Emily from Friends, Ross Gellars, girlfriend, wife and ex-wife, on a multi-season extended story line. However, she has also appeared on Cold Feet and Cardiac Arrest, amongst other television shows and movies and plays.
In a recent interview, the youthful looking star who appears to eschew wearing makeup revealed that she wouldn’t go under the knife or even try Botox injections because she wants to set a good example for her daughters.
The Mirror quotes Helen as saying, “I don’t like the idea of putting a deadly toxin in my body.”
“I don’t want to look weird.”
“I want to age the way that life makes you age.”
“Also I wouldn’t want my child to see that I considered being attractive synonymous with youth.”
“For me, operations are what you have when you’re ill.”
While many actresses claim to live a natural, holistic lifestyle, Helen appears to be the real deal. The actress says that she only began dying her hair recently—for work, no less– and doesn’t even have many of the regular beauty treatments that many stars take for granted, including getting facials or having her legs waxed.
“I’ve never had a facial, never had my nails done, my feet done or had my legs waxed.”
“No intervention of any kind.”
Helen currently stars on Cuckoo, a popular comedy series, as Lorna, the mother in-law of the titular Dale ‘Cuckoo’ Ashbrick.
When it comes to plastic surgery, Helen looks to be on the side of the Friends stars who haven’t been under the knife for extensive anti aging procedures, including Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow.
Jennifer Aniston has said that she has tried Botox in the past and really disliked the way it made her look. Reportedly she relies on water and skincare products to maintain her signature looks, saying “I believe in “no-tox.” It absolutely distorts peoples faces and you end up actually having the opposite effect. You look older, in my opinion, when you can’t move and don’t let your natural expressions have their way.” However, she has admitted to having a couple of nose jobs for medical reasons.
And although Lisa Kudrow has called the nose job she had as a teenager “life-changing” and transforming her from “hideous to not hideous,” these days she looks to be aging naturally. Lisa doesn’t appear to use Botox or fillers as she has deep lines and wrinkles as well as lax skin around her neck.
The only female Friend who seems to be devoted to plastic surgery as an anti-aging tool is Courteney Cox. Courteney has often said that she is insecure about looking older and loves using Botox and fillers to the point that many have said she looks like the Joker.none
