Fox News Anchor Greta Van Susteren went under the knife to help her career. But more remarkably, Greta Van Susteren was open about her plastic surgery.
56-year old Greta Van Susteren went under the knife in 2002 to get rid of the bags around her eyes. The blepharoplasty certainly helped her look more refreshed, while still maintaining a natural look.
In an interview with People magazine, Greta explains how she came to the decision to go under the knife, while “lounging in her three-bedroom stone house in Washington, D.C. Suddenly she looked up from her Sunday paper and asked John Coale, her husband of 14 years, “Do you think I should get rid of these bags under my eyes?” Coale, an attorney, was startled. “We had never talked about it,” he told the magazine. “Greta always looks like she’s 25 to me.” But three days later the pair visited a D.C. surgeon to explore the ins and out of blepharoplasty, commonly known as an eye-lift. “You have to realize this was not a huge decision,” Van Susteren tells PEOPLE, “not like choosing a law school.” Rather, with the start of her new job a month away (as host of Fox News Channel’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren”), she decided, she says, to do something just for her: “I just did it on a whim. It’s the first time since I was 17 that I had a month off and no responsibilities.” She was also facing her 30th high school reunion in Wisconsin this summer. “I looked at myself and thought, ‘God, how did I get to be 47?’ “
Greta’s improvements look great, and she could use some further help from Botox to help enhance her eyes even more.
Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “I think Greta Van Susteren has a conservative improvement from her eyelid surgery. If she were to get Botox to her forehead and around her eyes she would most likely reveal a more noticeable and youthful improvement. The Botox would smooth out the lines in her forehead and the wrinkles around her eyes. Botox can also give her brows a slight lift enhancing the conservative results she has received from her eyelid surgery.”
Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “Any work that Greta Van Susteren had performed to her eyes was conservative, and she obtained a good result. She may benefit from Botox and facial fillers. Overall, her look is natural and having any additional work performed is a personal choice.”
Greta Van Susteren certainly helped boost her career with her eyelid surgery and Makemeheal.com applauds her for being open about it.
