  • Hard rock band Guns N’ Roses has had a dizzying array of members come and go during its over 20 year history. Only lead singer Axl Rose, notorious plastic surgery victim has remained the same. Now, with the most anticipated album in history Chinese Democracy finally dropping this weekend, Make Me Heal wonders how many G N’ R members past and present have been under the knife.

Through its history, G N’ R has had 21 different band members, with some members, including guitarist Slash coming and going and others, lasting, like keyboardist Dizzy Reed lasting for a while. Other members, like Buckethead, have had successful solo careers, and some, like current guitarist, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, are newcomers to the band.

Slash, one of the best-known lead guitarists for G N’ R doesn’t appear to have fallen victim to bad plastic surgery. The once smooth faced youth is now 43 and has the deep lines of living hard to prove it, as do the former members of G N’ R Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum that help make up the line up for rock band Velvet Revolver. Although Slash is not as craggy-looking as a life-long rocker could be, his long curly hair that is in his face most of the time protects him from the sun, as does his rather nocturnal occupation.

    Buckethead, Plastic Surgery

    (Left: Before, Right: After)

Buckethead is another of G N’ R’s famous guitarists. At 39, Buckethead is younger than some of the other G N’R alum, but he always appears in public wearing a bucket on his head a mask on his face, so what he looks like remains a mystery. He could be as handsome as Brad Pitt (See Make Me Heal’s story on Brad Pitt’s plastic surgery) or as plastic surgery-ridden as Michael Jackson.

    Axl Rose, Plastic Surgery

    (Left: Before, Right: After)

The only obvious case of plastic surgery is lead singer and notoriously badass frontman Axl Rose. At 46, Axl claims to never have had plastic surgery, but his rather drastically altered appearance begs to differ. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Axl Rose’s plastic surgery).

Axl was once a sweet-faced young man whose gentle eyes belied his appetite for destruction. Now, his pulled and shiny face seems to be a mockery of his youth, and is likely the result of an over-zealous facelift, Botox injections and chemical peels or laser treatments. Although his cheeks were always high, they now ride higher and fuller, which goes against the natural laws of aging and is likely the result of cheek implants or fat grafting. His crazed open eyes may also be due to an eyelid lift. Not to mention that living a rock n’ roll life isn’t exactly easy on the appearance, jut consider Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger who may have a youthful attitude, but it doesn’t match his wrinkled face.

No matter who is in the Guns N’ Roses line-up and what they look like, Make Me Heal is looking forward to finally hearing the new album (legally) and getting the free Dr. Pepper that the soda company promised to all in celebration of the occasion.
