  • Kristin Scott Thomas is one of the best British actresses, transforming from beautiful drab, according to the role. However, Kristin doesn’t always feel beautiful and says that she may be considering plastic surgery.

At 53, Kristin Scott Thomas is still stunning and has appeared in recent high profile films such as Only God Forgives. Still, the actress says she has begun to feel invisible in middle age, which she says is a common affliction for women of a certain age.

“I’m not talking about in a private setting, at a dinner party or anything. But when you’re walking down the street, you get bumped into, people slam doors in your face – they just don’t notice you.”

“Somehow, you just vanish. It’s a cliché, but men grow in gravitas as they get older, while women just disappear.”

Kristin says that she has only been on screen in supporting roles, while younger actresses get the lead.

“You’re watching yourself get old, on a screen that hides nothing,” ABC News reports she laments in Stella.

She added that there are few exceptions: “The Great British Dames, like Helen Mirren and Judi Dench, have all managed to do things marvelously.”

Although it may seem to the audience that Kristin holds her own onscreen, she has said that she has considered having cosmetic surgery because she feels like an “old ragbag” alongside her younger costars, something she apparently felt all the more strongly when she attended last year’s Cannes Film Festival to promote the violent film.

“At the Cannes Film Festival I got such a shock… I saw lots of my contemporaries there this year, all looking so beautiful and gorgeous and healthy, and I just felt like an old ragbag next to them. I just thought, ‘Maybe it’s time to do something about it, like a facelift.’”

It may surprise Kristin to learn that the Great British Dames she admires, including Helen Mirren and Judi Dench are suspected are having some subtle nips and tucks over the years, which may have added years to their screen appeal.

While Judi Dench remains largely natural, she may have had a blepharoplasty in the past to help get rid of sagging eyelids that commonly occur with age. If she did have eyelid work, it was well done and likely took place in the past as she retains a natural look.

A few years back, Helen Mirren sparked rumors of plastic surgery when she was caught capering about in a bikini, past the age of 60 and still looking fit. Helen is thought to have had a facelift and eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) in order to stay camera ready and may also have had some work on her body as well, including liposuction or cellulite treatments, like VelaShape. If Helen did have plastic surgery, she likely waited until she was middle aged as she has been quoted as saying that she doesn’t approve of plastic surgery for young people—which may imply that she sees it as an anti aging treatment.
