  • Jane Fonda is one of Hollywood’s legendary beauties. And a new book by the activist actress credits plastic surgery with staying so good looking.

72-year old Jane Fonda is notorious for being a hypocrite when it comes to how she maintains her look. Back in the 1980s, she had a series of exercise videos that she credited with keeping her in shape, before it came out that she was a closet bulimic. Now it seems Jane has learned her lesson and is speaking openly about her decision to go under the knife to maintain her youthful appearance.

“I recently had plastic surgery. It was a hard decision to make, and I decided if I’m going to do it, I’m going to tell the truth,” Jane said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I’m writing a book about aging, so I can’t write that book and not say I’ve had plastic surgery. And you know, I just decided it was for me — I don’t want to have bags under my eyes that make me look tired, and so forth and so on.”

Board certified Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says,” She looks great and she admits that she has had plastic surgery.  Revealing whether one has had surgery is a personal choice.  Maybe other people just like keeping it a mystery. “

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, Calif., says, “Whether or not an individual would like to share their plastic surgery experience with the public is a personal decision.  Some individuals prefer to keep it private, and it is difficult to determine if a trend is in effect based on the actions of individuals who choose to share their personal information. ”

Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “With things like Facebook and the whole social media craze and instant updates on everything, it is hard to keep anything a secret these days.  Also, plastic surgery is much more accepted then it was in the past.  Many people dye their hair to make them look and feel better and don’t keep that a secret.”

Earlier this year when Jane revealed she had “work” done, Makemeheal.com suspected it was a face or necklift and as well as a lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) (See Make Me Heal’s story on Jane Fonda’s plastic surgery).

Jane is still one of the most attractive women in Hollywood, and plastic surgery is at least part of the reason why.
