  • Joey Lawrence was once renowned for his full head of long, shaggy sexy hair as a teenage heartthrob on Blossom. In his reincarnation as a grown man, Joey looks like he may have experienced the same hair loss problems as many other men and treated his hair loss with plastic surgery hair restoration.

35-year old Joey Lawrence has been sporting a shaved head for a while now, so when he revealed his shirtless body (after liposuction?) for a recent photo op, fans were gasping not only at his rock-hard abs, but also at what appeared to be new hair growth, courtesy of a possible hair transplant.

Hair loss expert, Dr. Alan Bauman explains, “ Joey Lawrence’s hairline has caused much speculation over the years. After years of sporting a baldhead, it appears the 35-year old is ready to start growing his hair out. Despite those who say otherwise, Joey appears to have undergone a hair transplant. When you look at his hairline up close, you can see that it is sparse and “grafty,” telling signs of a transplant. But he is fortunate that it doesn’t appear “pluggy” from a social distance.”

“Another red flag is the frontal peak and straight lines of his hairline, which look unnatural. Hopefully he plans to remedy this later with micrografts that can fill in the hairline with a more wavy, randomized approach and help create a more natural looking appearance. ”

“While his hairline is telling, the major giveaway is the lack of temporal points and the bizarre hair directions you can see in the frontal 1/4 inch that do not follow or match the hair behind. Grafts were placed perpendicularly to the skin and low density. ”

“It appears that he, like many stars and athletes today, decided on a transplant using Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), the procedure is favored by many to the traditional strip harvesting. This less invasive approach means that no scalpels, sutures, or staples are used in the donor area and it leaves absolutely no linear scar, so short haircuts, like those worn by Lawrence are still possible.  Recent data from the ISHRS shows that the numbers of FUE procedures are increasing exponentially, whereas the number of strip procedures are on the decline.”

Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “Joey Lawrence appears to stay very active and takes good care of his appearance.  Besides a little Botox to fend off facial wrinkles and lines, he does not appear to have had any cosmetic work done.”

Fans can catch Joey on his new show on ABC Family, Melissa & Joey.
