  • Oscar nominee Julianne Moore seems to epitomize aging gracefully. However, the fiery actress doesn’t believe that plastic surgery is a part of the aging gracefully process.

49-year old Julianne Moore is an advocate of taking care of herself, staying out of the sun and getting plenty of exercise. While she isn’t against plastic surgery for those who choose it, she doesn’t feel that it is an effective treatment for turning back the clock (See Make Me Heal’s story on Julianne Moore’s opinion on plastic surgery).

“First and foremost, I’m an actor and so I don’t want to do anything to my face,” she said. “I can do whatever I want, and I’m still going to be 49 years old, it’s not going to change anything. I don’t know that I’m going to look any younger, I’m just going to look like I’ve had something done to my face.”

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “Julianne Moore’s decision to refrain from having any plastic surgery performed is a personal preference.  If procedures are performed to the face by a highly skilled facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, the results will likely appear natural and it will not look like the individual had any work performed.  They will look better, but it will not necessarily be apparent at first glance they had work performed.”

Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “There are so many different reasons why someone may choose to have plastic surgery.  Some want to look younger and some just want to look better.  It is important that the plastic surgeon to understand what exactly the patient wants and to give the patient just that. ”

Julianne Moore was terrific in her role in The Kids are Alright and Makemeheal.com looks forward to seeing her in Crazy, Stupid, Love due out next year.
