As the award season prepares to launch into full swing, Make Me Heal looks forward to spotting plastic surgery as it parades down the red carpet. First on the list is favored actress Kate Winslet.
34-year old Kate has already been nominated for 5 Oscars in the past and will likely pick up another nomination for her recent work in this year’s Revolutionary Road or The Reader, for which she won the recent Golden Globe.
In the past, Kate has said that she is adamantly against plastic surgery and then changed her view and blamed it on her husband, director Sam Mendes. Kate said, “I am intrigued by surgery but Sam would leave me if I did anything like that.” But Make Me Heal, and others, have long suspected that Kate is more than intrigued and has actually been under the knife.
Photos of Kate earlier in her career seem to have a slightly larger nose. More recently, Kate’s nose appears to have slimmed down. Although Kate has recently lost weight, the change in the size of her nose is likely the result of a rhinoplasty. The nose job was well-done, giving Kate’s face a much slimmer, sophisticated appearance.
“In some photos, it looks like Kate Winslet’s nasal dorsum is narrower due to osteotomies (narrowing nasal bones). Her nostrils are less wide and her tip looks a little pinched. Overall, looks like she might have had a conservative rhinoplasty,” said Dr. Paul S. Nassif, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Spalding Drive Cosmetic Surgery.
“In other photos, it looks like she has some more of her eyelids showing, which would be a sign of a possible upper blepharoplasty. Overall, she looks great,” said Dr. Nassif.
More recently, the actress recently lost her notoriously buxom figure, saying it was due to Pilates, but it could also be some conservative body contouring procedures. As the weight loss affected her entire body, from head to toe, it likely was due to hard work rather than plastic surgery.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Jennifer Walden tells Make Me Heal, “It looks as if Kate Winslet has had a nicely done rhinoplasty in the past that narrowed the nose and made the tip more refined. She seems in recent photos to have a cleaner, more well-defined sulcus of her upper lid area, so she may have even undergone and eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) in the past. There is no doubt that Kate is absolutely stunning in her recent Vanity Fair spread, and this is somewhat attributed to the fact that she has maintained a healthy appearance and has lost some weight (not too excessive), which can also be seen in her face.”
On the other hand, plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn says, “I really don’t see any change, except what one would see with typical aging. No obvious plastic surgery on her face!”
Whatever work Kate has or hasn’t had done, she is sure to look wonderful on the red carpet in February.
