Kathie Lee Gifford has been a talk-show host staple since the 1980′s. No longer starring on her own talk show, the 55-year old host has made her way to the “Today” show, where she looks younger than ever.
The aging process creates a loss of laxity in the skin as well as wrinkles, especially horizontal lines across the forehead and vertical lines between the eyebrows. Kathie Lee exhibits none of these signs of aging, moreover she has never appeared to have grown older, indicating she has had plastic surgery done over the years.
To combat aging, many people who spend time in front of the camera get pulled, filled and smoothed with a combination of techniques, including a facelift (with eyelift), which ensures no sagging around the neck or jaw and an overall tighter, youthful appearance and then use dermal injectables like Botox to combat wrinkles and facial fillers to fill in deep lines. This is often followed up by laser treatments like Fraxel or Active FX to smooth and soften skin.
This procedure seems to be exactly what Kathie Lee signed up for when she began her television career, as well as a possible nose job to make it more regal looking for the small screen. Plastic Surgeon Dr. Jennifer Walden tells Make Me Heal, “Kathie Lee Gifford is so fun and entertaining, and she may have dabbled in a few things over the years to maintain herself as many women (and men) do who are in front of the camera.
It appears she may have had injectables such as Botox and possibly soft tissue fillers to the laugh lines, and perhaps even some resurfacing like chemical peel or laser (a tip-off is the appearance of her relatively shiny skin).
She also looks like she has had rhinoplasty as I’ve compared various pictures of Kathie Lee Gifford’s nose and it looks more defined and narrow than it used to.
Kathie’s face also appears tighter in some photos, which could mean she may have had a facelift in the past. An eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) may also have been performed.”
Although the evidence seems obvious, in the past Kathie Lee has denied having any plastic surgery, telling Larry King in 2000 in an interview transcribed by Awful Plastic Surgery:
KING: The story was that you wanted to [get plastic surgery] and [your husband Frank] didn’t want you to.
GIFFORD: But I wanted more. Last year, it was that I was leaving the show or something like that because I was going to have a million dollars worth of plastic surgery. Now, that hurt, you know. Do I need a million dollars worth?
KING: So you’ve never had and you don’t intend to have it.
GIFFORD: I don’t intend to do it.
KING: But you would have if you felt you needed to?
GIFFORD: You know what, yes, I probably would. You know what, just to feel — I probably would. But I haven’t done, you know, anything that I’m ashamed of, and I’m certainly not going to be ashamed of it if I have it down.
It seems unlikely that Kathie Lee has had all her work done since 2000, and more likely that she had some work done well before the interview took place and continues to maintain her looks through regular Botox injections and laser treatments.
Kathie Lee’s enthusiasm can be overwhelming, put her plastic surgery isn’t…yet.
