Lisa Rinna has become more famous for her bizarre appearance from plastic surgery than her work as an actress. Which is why Makemeheal.com thinks it is odd that Lisa has criticized another actress for going under the knife.
When Heidi Montag first came out in People magazine about her astonishing 10 plastic surgery procedures, Lisa Rinna said that her first reaction was to remove the magazine from her home, and the view of her impressionable young daughters.
“I will tell you, I had to take that cover off the magazine before it came in the house,” she says of People magazine.
“We have two girls. I don’t think it is something you want to bring in and say, ‘Oh, look.’”
Lisa continues, “I take a lot of the covers off of magazines if they are just not appropriate. Obviously, we are raising two young girls. Anything that has to do with body or weight issues, I think you just have to be really careful.”
“That magazine has changed so much. I was actually on the cover a few times [in the '80s]. In those days, they had stories about people who hadn’t had their faces cut open. They had stories about things that were really going on.”
“I don’t know. I mean, plastic surgery?”
46-year old Lisa isn’t exactly a stranger to plastic surgery herself. Lisa has had an obvious lip augmentation through filler injections or Gortex, a type of lip implant. Lisa is also rumored to have had a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), breast implants, and botox injections. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Lisa Rinna’s plastic surgery).
Board certified Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr David Shafer says, ” There are two groups of people – those that tell everyone about their plastic surgery and those that do not. Those people who tell others about their plastic surgery are also more likely to be accepting of others having plastic surgery. However, people intimately familiar with plastic surgery also tend to be more critical of those people who go overboard with their procedures. ”
Miami Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “ Although Heidi’s recent obsession with plastic surgery and her overwhelming breast size may be something Lisa Rinna wants to shield her young daughter from, she certainly cannot shield her from her very own affinity for plastic surgery. I find that women may be reluctant to reveal their cosmetic surgery secrets to those don’t already know, but they don’t look down upon others who have also had cosmetic surgery. It is a bit like the pot calling the kettle black.”
After being called out for her seeming hypocritical comments on Heidi, Lisa did apologize, via Twitter, saying, “I apologize to Miss Montag if my words were taken and used against her in the press. I did not slam her or her surgeries for the record.”
It seems that Lisa is thinking more and more about plastic surgery these days, despite her previous bad experiences. She also recently used her Twitter account to post pictures of her ability to wrinkle her forehead, to prove that she hasn’t had too much Botox. However, Botox is a temporary injectable which wears off several months. Lisa may have taken the photo on her way to the plastic surgeon’s office for a refill.
Dr Salzhauer says, “The one picture of Lisa wrinkling her forehead just looks like her Botox wore off. Botox is temporary and only lasts approximately 5 months. At some point everyone who gets Botox can make those wrinkles as it wears off.”
Lisa is certainly sending mixed messages, and while she may be able to keep Heidi out of the house, her daughters may have never seen their mother’s “natural” beauty.
It is also interesting to note that Lisa and Heidi have more than just plastic surgery in common. They also both enjoy showing off their procedures in Playboy magazine.
