  • Actress Mackenzie Phillips recently regained her place in the spotlight thanks to her new memoir filled with sex, drugs, rock n’ roll, and incest. While in the spotlight, she has also taken the opportunity to debut her new plastic surgery look.

50 year old Mackenzie Phillips is best know for her famous parentage, John Phillips, lead singer of The Mamas & the Papas and his first wife Susan Adams. After working as an actress, most notably in the film American Graffiti, Mackenzie has popped up here and there on various television shows since her days on the soap opera One Day at a Time. Since the release of her book, High on Arrival, in which she alleges an incestuous affair with her father, Mackenzie has once again been in front of the camera on various talk and morning programs.

On her most recent appearance, on Good Morning America, Mackenzie revealed her new appearance, which she says cost $50,000 on Botox, Restylane, laser treatments on her face, dental veneers, and hair extensions. Mackenzie says her cosmetic surgery overhaul was part of her effort to “love herself from the inside out.”

Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, ” Any work Mackenzie Philips had was done conservatively. Her look has improved, and she does not appear overdone. She would not benefit from any other work at this time. ”

Indeed, Mackenzie doesn’t look all that different from her before pictures, which means the results of her procedures are subtle and well done. However, she could have gotten a little more bang for her buck with some more invasive procedures, including a facelift.

Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “That’s a lot of money to spend on a temporary solution.  She could have gotten a facelift for half of that, had much better results, and her results would last several years longer.  The Botox, fillers and laser treatments did make an improvement; however there comes a point when they can only improve so much.  When there is extra loose skin, none of those treatments can fix that.”

Mackenzie clearly has a lot of issues to work through after her drug filled life, but you’d never know it to look at her, thanks to her recent plastic surgery.

Which pic is the before/after? The one on the right looks worse but I can’t be sure. I’m sure a facelift would have helped but I can’t blame the girl from being scared of surgery to the face. I don’t know how people do it, it’s very scary to think of things going wrong…

She looked much better before. She looks at least 1 years older now. Her face looks puffy and odd.

Its always good to go for the surgery which gives us good result and lasts for a long time, instead of the surgery which is just going to waste our money resulting giving us good looks just for few days.Though these days each and every surgery is guaranteed and very positive resulting.

I think she looks better in the before! It’s obvious she has had her eyelids done. They look more open. I think she looks older in the “after” picture. I think she looks so much better in a lighter shade of hair. Lighter hair suits her better as it takes years off her looks. She has a ruddy complexion, perhaps she had acne or something like that. You know what though? Why can’t everyone just accept the fact that we’ll all get old, and soon there won’t be anything that can be done cosmetically to stop it. It’s just such a waste of money to be plastic. I salute all the Hollywood people that don’t become plastic! If they keep messing around with surgeries, no one will reconize them someday. Plus; it just looks so awful to have big ol’ puffy lips or breasts that are so much bigger than nature intended. Let’s just age gracefully for a change and actually enjoy it….
