  • Voting day is finally here and with it, an end to the ceaseless ads that have been running since the beginning of the year. Makemeheal.com takes a look at the California gubernatorial candidates, Jerry Brown and Meg Whitman, and the plastic surgery procedures that could improve their run in politics.

54-year old Meg Whitman has no political experience, but that hasn’t stopped the former CEO from bombarding Californians with her face over the past year. The eBay exec has spent seemingly countless millions on ad campaigns that have burned the blonde’s image into many a television set. Unfortunately, the image isn’t all that great, looking about 10 years older than she is. Luckily, some plastic surgery could help turn back the years, and the non-native Californian billionaire can well afford it.

Meg hasn’t even won the election, yet she still looks very tired and haggled and has bags around her eyes. A browlift and lower blepharoplasty could help freshen her eyes, while a facelift and necklift could help get rid of some of her sags and bags around her face. Regular injections of Botox and other facial fillers like Restylane and Juvederm could also help Meg’s appearance.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “Meg Whitman may refresh her appearance with facial fillers and Botox.  She also may be a candidate for both a facelift and necklift. A browlift and blepharoplasty may also refresh the appearance of her eyes. Overall, her current look is natural, and having any procedures performed would be a personal decision for her. ”

Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “Meg Whitman can really strengthen and enhance her appearance with a few facial cosmetic procedures.  Dermal fillers will diminish the creases of the nasolabial folds- laugh lines.  Botox to her forehead and around the eyes will smooth out her complexion, lift her brows a bit and decrease the crows feet wrinkles by her eyes. An upper and lower Blepharoplsty (eyelid lift) will get rid of the excess skin above and below her eyes and give her a rejuvenated and rested look to her face.”

Toby G. Mayer, M.D., F.A.C.S. of the Beverly Hills Institute of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery commented, “Although he has never treated Meg Whitman or Jerry Brown, based on the photos he said ‘it appears that Meg Whitman may have already had a face lift.’  He went on to comment that she would benefit from another face lift and a forehead lift’.  She would also benefit from lowering her hairline which would aesthetically better balance the proportions of her face.  Dr. Mayer also said that she needs fillers in the naso labial folds (Marionette Lines)  and that she should also have her upper and lower eye lids done including fillers in the grooved depression under her eyes.”

72-year old Jerry Brown has changed a lot since his run as governor in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Since then Jerry has lost much of his hair, although he could get hair transplants if he wanted to restore his hair. He could also use a facelift to get rid of some of the jowls that age him and an upper and lower eyelid surgery would also give him a more vital appearance.

Dr. Nassif says, “Jerry Brown may benefit from Botox, facial fillers, and a lower facelift, where the face is lifted vertically. This may improve the appearance of jowls.  Hair restoration is a personal choice, and it is up to him if he wishes to have any hair replacement surgery performed.”

Dr. Salzhauer says, “With such a prominent forehead, Jerry Brown would certainly benefit from some Botox.  An upper and lower blepharoplasty will reduce the bags under his eyes and excess skin above his eyes and will give him a refreshed and more youthful look.  He could benefit from a mini facelift, but that does require some down time to recover- approximately 2 weeks.

Dr. Mayer commented that Jerry Brown does not appear to have enough hair left to get a good result from any hair restoration treatments and it was obvious that Brown realises that short hair is the best look for a person with little hair coverage. He said that Jerry Brown could benefit from a face and forehead lift.  He would suggest he has his upper and lower eyelids done as well as fillers in his naso labial fold.  Brown he said also has a ‘Turkey Neck’ and could use a neck lift.
