  • Melanie Chisholm, aka Mel C or Sporty Spice is one of the few members of the popular 90s girl group to not go under the knife. However, that may change as Mel C has said she is considering plastic surgery.

37-year-old singer Mel C says that she doesn’t have a problem with people undergoing plastic surgery—good news for her former bandmates (See Make Me Heal’s story on the Spice Girls’ plastic surgery)—but she does worry about doing it herself because many people over do it.

For example, after breast augmentation, the breasts often appear fuller and rounder than natural breasts, but often settle into a more natural shape depending on the patient’s body and implant size. With Botox, if used judiciously, it can get rid of wrinkles without making the face look too smooth or stiff.

“I would definitely consider plastic surgery. Although I’m quite scared of it, and I think I’d always go for the least invasive treatments. It’s really easy to go a bit too far – you know, when you can’t decide if someone looks great, or if they just look like they’ve had Botox.”

Dr. David Shafer, celebrity plastic surgeon in New York City says, ”Most cosmetic procedures can look natural if done correctly and not to excess.  The problem occurs when patients loose touch with reality and keep wanting bigger lips, for example.  I often tell my patients that more is not necessarily better.”

Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “There are treatments such as Botox and dermal fillers that can create a very rejuvenated and refreshed look to the face.  The ability to create natural looking results really depends on the physician’s experience and the patient’s desired look.  I’ve seen patients that have undergone a non-surgical nose job using dermal fillers that doesn’t look nearly as natural (or good) as a Rhinoplasty or nose reshaping cosmetic surgery.  It is important to get completely informed before considering cosmetic surgery and treatments to know what will be the best choice for you.”

Mel C says, “Cosmetic surgery frightens me a little bit – people go too far and sometimes it goes wrong but I wouldn’t judge those who want it done.

“I’ve not had it done myself.”

Mel C looks great, which she credits with being an active mom rather than a gym bunny.
