  • Joan Rivers and her daughter Melissa Rivers are getting ready to team up for their upcoming WE network reality series, “Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?” At a recent press event to hype the show, Melissa revealed that she doesn’t like her mom’s love of plastic surgery.

77-year old Joan Rivers is a poster child for plastic surgery, undergoing numerous facelifts, a brow lift, cheek lift, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), Botox injections, laser skin resurfacing, chemical peels, and breast augmentation, in addition to other procedures (See Make Me Heal’s story on Joan Rivers’ plastic surgery).

“In my opinion, it’s like enough,” 43-year old Melissa Rivers said. “Stop it. It is a source of conflict, it really is. It bothers me.”

Joan laughed off her daughter’s concerns, saying there’s no such thing as too much plastic surgery and it is part of being in show business.

Makemeheal.com thinks Melissa’s position on plastic surgery is peculiar, considering that she has had more than her share of plastic surgery herself. Melissa looks like she has undergone a nose job, cheek augmentation and possible browlift. Given her age, she has likely also used dermal fillers like Restylane and Juvederm as well as Botox.

Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “Melissa has had to watch her mother go through more than the average number of cosmetic surgeries.  Most would agree with Melissa that her mom Joan Rivers should stop- for health, safety and aesthetic reasons.   But Melissa has also had her share of cosmetic surgeries herself- such as a Rhinoplasty, cheek augmentation and possibly her brows.  She has quite a plastic surgery track record herself so far.”

Curious viewers can check out Joan and Melissa Rivers when their show Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? debuts January 25th.

If you are considering having Liposuction done, my best advice to you would be to really do your research before moving forward. Even though Liposuction is one of the most popular cosmetic plastic surgery procedures to have done, many people who have moved forward with this procedure did not know what to expect. I am talking about the recovery process, they knew what the surgery entailed but they really didn’t know what to expect post surgery. I think when most people look into having a procedure done their main focus is on the prize. They focus so much on how the procedure is going to enhance their look, that they tend to avoid focusing on the recovery process of the procedure.

Just like Joan herself, Melissa was so very pretty before she started getting plastic surgery procedures. It’s all just tragic!

      Both ladies…stop already!

The image of pre-make-up Joan in her documentary was truly horrifying.

I cannot think of a single person whose looks were improved by plastic surgery. Angelina Jolie had an excellent rhinoplasty, but now that she is so emaciated, her nose looks as if it has fallen into her face.
