The latest trend in plastic surgery seems to be fans of celebrities going under the knife to better resemble their famous idol. One Michael Jackson fan in Brazil seems to have taken this love of King of Pop to an extreme, bleaching his skin and undergoing numerous nose jobs.
The Daily Mail reports that 32-year old Antonio Gleidson Rodrigues, the self-proclaimed number one Michael Jackson impersonator in Brazil is closely following in his idol’s cosmetic surgery footsteps.
Apparently Antonio has had several nose jobs to help him more closely resemble Michael Jackson and had his first rhinoplasty operation five years to correct his nasal septum so that he would be able to hit higher notes when he sings. Now, Antonio spends about four hours each day rehearsing his routine.
“I wasn’t able to reach notes like Michael before but after surgery I can now sing some notes in falsetto,” Antonio explains.
A former drama teacher, Antonio has had other procedures as well in order to look more like Mike. Like Michael Jackson, Antonio has had a procedure to lighten his skin pigment, by injecting hyaluronic acid into his skin for a whitening effect. He has also had Botox injections around his eyes to help further resemble Michael.
Antonio isn’t done yet. He’s hoping to raise money for more surgery by imitating Michael Jackson. Future plans for plastic surgery include getting rid of wrinkles around his mouth, enhancing his cheekbones and getting his forehead tattooed as well as yet another nose job to slim his nose even more.
The impersonator says, “If I can afford it in the future, I am thinking of working on my cheekbones so I can get rid of the wrinkles along my mouth – I also want to have my eyebrows arched.”
“I would like to have my forehead tattooed and have my nose made even slimmer.”
In the meantime, Antonio uses makeup to make the transformation into Michael, using contouring techniques to get Michael’s expressions and super narrow nose.
According to Antonio, his impersonator career and quest to look more like Michael began when he was just 19 and his drama students noted his resemblence.
“It was tough, they teased me for around 15 days and the mothers of the children even got involved.”
“By the end of it I was caught up – I had the bug.”
While Antonio seems happy in his quest and acknowledges that he is no substitute for the real deal, relatives, including his aunt, worry about the effects of so much surgery.
His aunt reveals, “He is obsessed, sometimes he will spend hours on the internet looking for things related to Michael Jackson.”
“I worry for his health – I want him to come downstairs and eat a sandwich.”
“I also worry when he goes into surgery, I never want him to feel disappointed and sometimes surgery doesn’t work out the way you would want it to.”
Still, Antonio says he will try his best to be just like Michael Jackso, as much as he can.
