No More Plastic Surgery For Mickey Rourke
January 26, 2009 in Awful/Bad Plastic Surgery,Celebrity Plastic Surgery,Male Plastic Surgery,Oscars Plastic Surgery, Award Shows by Carrie Zender | 23 Comments
The recent film The Wrestler was a big hit with critics and viewers alike, earning the two big names in the big picture, Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei, Oscar nominations. Make Me Heal takes a look back at the unlikely pair’s plastic surgery and also looks ahead to see what could be done to help their looks in the future.

Before becoming an actor, 52-year old Mickey Rourke was a boxer. Since changing careers, Mickey has also changed his face, becoming a notorious example of bad plastic surgery. In the past, Mickey has had several procedures, including at least one overly tight facelift, possible chin, cheek and lower lip implants and possible multiple nose jobs, in part to correct damage from his boxing past. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Mickey Rourke’s bad plastic surgery).
Although his appearance contrasts sharply with that of most handsome leading men, Mickey managed to perform well enough in The Wrestler to win a Golden Globe and be nominated for an Oscar in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role category.
To help improve his looks for his upcoming roles, including Iron Man 2, coming next year, Make Me Heal asked plastic surgeons how Mickey could best improve his botched plastic surgeries.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Sherrell J. Aston says, “Mickey Rourke did a terrific job in The Wrestler. He should use some of his best wrestling holds on anyone who comes near him for any cosmetic procedure for the foreseeable future including injectables of all kinds.”
Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, Calif., said, “Obviously, Mickey Rourke looks as if he is overdone and stretched. He probably had cheek implants, face lift, brow lift, upper blepharoplasty and lip fillers, possibly something permanent.”
“It is difficult to reverse any of this, except to put in smaller cheek implants or remove and revise the facelift to change the vector of pull so that it’s not so surgical. However, the eyes and lips can’t be reversed.”
Make Me Heal congratulates both Mickey and Marisa on their nominations and looks forward to seeing the beauty and the beast at the Oscars ceremony next month.

omgoodness people abuse it so the get crazy and should stop before they get to ugly..
to latee
Doesn’t he look like a washed out alcoholic/drug addict at best? What on earth happened to this guy…. he looks like s***. Really…. I’m shocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I really wish he never touched his face, he was sooooo handsome. Cute people need not have plastic surgery, he doesn’t look like the same man.
you people are stupid, he didn’t get the plastic surgery over and over like Joan rivers , he got it 2 times because he was a professional boxer and his face was destroyed. the first time he did it was to have reconstructive surgery and he ended up going to a hack doctor that messed him up the second was to fix what the first had done
i am surprised he can have the confidence to still show up in public and do movies with the way his face looks, it is so friggin ridiculous the way these celebrities get plastic surgery when they do not need it!!
Jeff, thanks for the post! Your post is actually the only one worth reading. I always wondered what truly happened to his face. It’s tragic, but Mickey Rourke is still a bad ass
Jeff, you are absolutely right. He acted for a good while, then did some more boxing and got his face literally smashed in beyond recognizing, and the surgery messed it up, and he had to get it done a second time to fix the first mess up. And I don’t understand how mean people can be, he is an amazing actor, who has so much talent to offer us as consumers and fans, what does it matter if his face is not the same as it was 20 some odd years ago? I still love him, and he still has those amazing eyes that make you believe his roles…Thanks Jeff for telling the facts as they are!
“I am surprised he can have the confidence to still show up in public and do movies with the way his face looks”??? – WTF do you mean? Do you think that everone who is not so good looking as we expect him to be, shoul remain at home, hiding from others with shame? Jesus… You must be handsome, right?! :-S
Madre, from Portugal
One of the best actors of his generation, who made some of the most inexplicably bad (according to Wikipedia) career decisions (including returning to boxing, the moron) in film history.
Except for the tragically disfigured, plastic surgery is one of the most pathetic, grotesque things a human can elect to put him- or her-self through. Ellen Barkin: She was so idiosyncratically beautiful as a young woman, and would have aged into a phenomenal character actress… if she’d just been willing to allow herself to AGE…
Wow. I can’t believe how horrid Mickey Rourke has become. I saw him years ago in Wild Orchid and thought he was wickedly sexy and beautiful. When I saw him recently for the “Wrestler” I thought…holy shit what the hell happened he looks like a hideous alcoholic suffering from liver disease he’s that wretchedly bloated and ugly. Why can’t actors just age gracefully? Look at how hot Sean Connery still is at like 80. Mickey was beautiful, and then he wasted it! He looks like hideous cat-woman, plastic surgery addicted heiress Jocelyn Wildenstein. UGH….When Ego outweighs common sense.

The Wrestler come Back
I’m watch wild orchid right now and yes he was FINE, and I think that it is really sad that because having a procedure done that was NEEDED, he is left with the results that is left with…but on the other hand he is still a WONDERFUL actor and just the way he carries himself makes him STILL sexy as hell!
Mickey looks like a hard life got to him. He looks puffy and old for early 50′s. I wish he had left well enough alone, but imagine a woman in his shoes. She would never make any kind of comeback. Unlike woman who still find Mickey sexy/attractive, a woman would be beyond having a chance. Even pity might be denied. A woman would be an object of ridicule and could become a bag lady for all that anyone would care. If, she lost her only friend a cat or dog, jokes would be written and performed and laughed at uproariously. Enough. Mickey is lucky he’s a man and can still fulfill his passions and be cheered.
kudos to those that read bios before they post shit. I mean ffs Heather above didnt even read what others had put in here lol, gotta laugh at the ignorance
awesome comeback
he still is a GREAT Actor
Ohh Now I know why he did the surgery….thanks for the post! despite of that, he’s a great actor can’t agree more with Tana;-)
Maybe I’m crazy, but I think he is really nice looking, in a rugged way, he looks great in the new John Rich video
I love him regardless! He has been perfect in the roles he has played.
And I still love looking at him…

much of the strange look to his face is from steroid abuse
