80s icon Molly Ringwald is back in the spotlight, thanks to her role on the popular television show The Secret Life of the American Teenager. With a new book to promote, titled “Getting the Pretty Back: Friendship, Family and Finding the Perfect Lipstick,” the red-haired actress is opening up about plastic surgery.
42-year old Molly Ringwald is best known for her roles in classic 80s films by John Hughes, like Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club. In a recent interview with StyeList, the mother of three opened up about her views on plastic surgery, saying that while she hasn’t had any yet, that doesn’t mean she won’t change her mind. Here’s a recap of the interview:
StyleList: You draw the line at plastic surgery. In your book you write, “Be bold, as long as you are under the care of a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist (not a plastic surgeon, since we don’t want you to look plastic).”
Molly Ringwald: I don’t judge. I understand the pull, but as an actress I depend on my expressions to get my emotions across. To do something to my face that would inhibit that ability would be a mistake. Otherwise, yeah, you start to look plastic.
StyleList: So you wouldn’t even do Botox?
Molly Ringwald: It’s not the route I want to go. But you could talk to me a year from now and if there’s a line that shows up on my face that really bums me out, I might change my mind.
Makemeheal.com finds it interesting that Molly says no Botox, as many of her fans have noticed that she looks like she has definitely been using Botox and a lip filler like Juvederm.
Board certified Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “Molly Ringwal looks great for 42. It is hard to believe that “The Breakfast Club” and “Pretty in Pink” were from the mid 1980′s. In the image, it does appear that she may have had lip injections and Botox. If not she has some secret about keeping her skin smooth.”
Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California, says, “Molly Ringwald may have had Botox and facial fillers at some point. Overall, she looks great and her look is natural.”
Miami Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “
She certainly is doing something to maintain her youthful look. Whether she calls it “plastic surgery” or not, Botox and some type of skin rejuvenating procedure and possibly dermal fillers are surely part of her secret formula. Because of their advanced aesthetic facial training, many patients prefer to have a plastic surgeon perform these types of “non-surgical” cosmetic enhancement procedures.”
Molly looks great whatever her beauty secret and Make Me Heal looks forward to seeing more of Molly as she gets back in front of the camera.
