  • Paula Abdul may no longer be appearing on camera on a regular basis, but that doesn’t mean that the former choreographer turned American Idol judge doesn’t still want to look her best. Although she always looks slim and sleek, Paula reportedly tried a new weight loss plastic surgery, with less than positive results. As a result, she’s suing the company. Here’s a look at the details of the situation, as reported by Yahoo!

51-year old Paul Abdul is suing UVASun West Inc., an LA tanning salon because she says she was burned when she received the salon’s SlimStar infrared body wrap treatment on Jan. 20, 2012. The treatment costs $129 a session and on the company’s website, promises to be a “highly effective weight control” using “infrared heat that penetrates twice as deep as other heat sources to target toxins and cellulite trapped in pockets below the surface of the skin.” The site further goes on to state that a person doing the treatment “may burn 1200 or more calories in just one 50-minute session” and “feel results from your very first session.”

However, the treatment did not go according to plan, in legal papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by “The Insider With Yahoo,” Paula alleges that the treatment was done “negligently, carelessly, and recklessly, so as to cause [her] to suffer severe and painful burns over her body, with an especially severe second or third degree burn on a portion of [her] left thigh.”

Furthermore, the treatment caused Paula to be “hurt and injured in her health, strength, and activity,” damaging not only her body but also causing “shock and injury to [her] nervous system,” as well as “great mental, physical and nervous strain, pain and suffering, and loss of earnings potential.”

As a result, Paula claims she is undergoing ongoing medical treatments for her injuries and seeking an unspecified amount in excess of $25,000 from UVASun West Inc.

This isn’t the first time Paula has had problems with a beauty treatment. In 2004 she had a manicure at a beauty salon and ended up with a bacterial infection that caused pain and suffering, leading her to testify in order to get better sanitary protections put in place in salons.

Although she has never admitted to plastic surgery, Paula is also thought to have spent time under the knife as well. In the early part of her career, she probably had a nose job as her nose is very pinched and narrow. She probably also received breast implants at some point as when she reveals cleavage, her breasts have a very severe, bolted on look. In addition, she may have also had a minor facelift and eyelid surgery on both the upper and lower lids.

And like much of Hollywood, she seems to be on a regular regimen that includes Botox and facial fillers, to make sure that her skin remains smooth and taut and shows no signs of aging.
