Penelope Cruz has been a favorite actress around the world and Make Me Heal suspects some judicial plastic surgery has been a help in the beautiful actress’ career.

34-year old Penelope is nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her work in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. She was previously nominated in 2007 for her work as a Leading Actress in the Spanish-language film Volver. Her beautiful face and outstanding figure have long led to rumors of plastic surgery.

At the 2007 Oscars, Make Me Heal noticed that Penelope appeared to have augmented her lips, and plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn agreed, saying at the time, “[she] appears she may have some conservative lip injections with an injectable like Restylane. It’s not overdone. The lips (especially the upper lip) appears a bit outlined, which can be seen with lip augmentation using injectables.” (See Make Me Heal’s 2007 Oscar coverage).

Plastic surgeon Dr. Jennifer Walden says, “Penelope Cruz is rumored to have had injectibles to her lips, most likely Restylane, or one of the other hyaluronic acid fillers. She also has a smooth forehead (perhaps a little Botox) and flawless skin which is usually the result of a combination of a comprehensive skin care regimen, good genes, healthy diet, drinking lots of water, and not smoking.”

But Penelope has probably had plastic surgery even further in the past, and her narrow nose is the result. Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, Calif., said, “Some photos that show the front of Ms. Cruz’s nose are consistent with having had a rhinoplasty. Her tip cartilage looks like it might have a parenthesis look from the way the cartilage was excised.”

But before the red carpet event, Dr. Nassif has some advice for Penelope on how to look her best, saying, “Penelope Cruz could possibly have some Botox before the awards to help emphasize her facial features.”

In the past, Penelope has said that she isn’t against plastic surgery, but she is looking forward to growing old naturally:

“My grandmothers had so many wrinkles, and every wrinkle told a story. I want to experience every year of my life for what it is. It doesn’t mean I am against somebody who does a little retouch or plastic surgery; that’s a different story. You can be 50 years old and want to do a little thing and it can look great. I don’t judge people who do it. I just don’t like how women complain about growing old. I loved Audrey Hepburn: she was so natural and she was a real woman. She was beautiful when she was young and she was beautiful when she was 60. Sophia Loren and Susan Sarandon, too.”

Make Me Heal always enjoys Penelope’s performances and looks forward to seeing the elegant actress’ gown choice at the upcoming red carpet event.
