  • Richard Gere and Diane Lane are once again falling in love onscreen in this weekend’s opening of Nights in Rodanthe, a film based on popular author Nicholas Sparks’ novel. The most interesting part of the film is that despite being older than much of Hollywood’s most popular actors, neither Richard nor Diane appears to have gone under the knife to increase their popularity.

Richard Gere, Diane Lane, Plastic Surgery

59-year old Richard Gere has long been considered one of Hollywood’s sexiest leading men. But he seems to owe his good looks to good genes, rather than a good plastic surgeon.

A couple of years ago, Richard joked, “I’m 57, how much longer can I be a sex symbol? If people think I still look good, well, that’s because I have a lot of plastic surgery.”

But according to plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn’s blog, the actor was only joking about having a lot of plastic surgery saying, “Yeah, I do think he was joking. Must be that Zen tranquility has done him well. I thought he was great in Chicago.”

If Richard looks good at 57, Diane Lane looks amazing at 43, considering she hasn’t had any work done.

In the past, Diane has reportedly said, “It scares the s**t out of me. And I don’t relish the thought of people staring at me, trying to figure out what I’ve had done.” However, she did reserve the right to change her mind, adding, “I reserve the right to change my mind. Absolutely. I’m a female, that comes first.”

Diane’s face still moves and she has crow’s feet around her eyes. In addition, her neck is beginning to show signs of sagging skin, which are normal signs of aging for a woman her age.

On his blog, Dr. Youn says, “Overall she looks to be aging very gracefully to me.”

If Diane and Richard do decide to undergo plastic surgery they may want to begin with a mid facelift to tighten up overall and follow up with some Botox injections to lessen the appearance of crow’s feet around the eyes. For deeper wrinkles, like nasolabial folds around the mouth, a dermal filler, like Restylane might be prudent. Diane may also eventually need a breast lift and/or augmentation to maintain her large, perky breasts.

Richard and Diane both look great and natural, and as they are still making movies don’t seem to be at all affected by the ageism many actors in Hollywood complain about.
