  • Crime thriller State of Play hit theaters recently, starring Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams. With so many big names, Make Me Heal wonders if the drama also stars plastic surgery.

45-year old Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe is known for his fiery temper as much as for his acting skills. Since winning the Oscar for 2001’s film Gladiator, Make Me Heal has wondered if the actor’s looks need a touch up now that he is passing middle age?

    Russel Crowe, Plastic Surgery

Russell has deep lines across his forehead, which could easily be corrected with a browlift or treated with some Botox filler. As he has aged, his eyelids have started to sag, which could be corrected with a blepharoplasty.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “Russell Crow is showing signs of his sun exposure from his days in Australia. I recommend he have a skin repair procedure, from an IPL or erbium laser. He could also use a conservative brow lift and an upper eyelid lift. A lower lid lift would also be beneficial to help soften the fat and reduce the wrinkles there.”

Russell has aged a lot since his role in The Insider, which earned him his first Oscar nomination in 2000, but he might not look like himself if he had too much done.

New York plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “Russell does not look like he has had any plastic surgery. Most people would probably suggest that he needs Botox to help with his forehead and crow’s feet. However, I think this is part of his look and may not actually be beneficial for him.”

Plastic surgeon Sherrell J. Aston says, “Russell Crowe is well known in Hollywood as a dramatic leading man. He has had a steady career and had great roles in movies like, The Gladiator, A beautiful Mind, American Gangster and recently, State of Play. While I think he could really benefit from a blepharoplasty, liposuction and some Botox, his roles might not be as convincing with such a perfected appearance.”

Hollywood casting somehow made the decision to have 36-year old Ben Affleck play Russell’s former college roommate. While Russell looks good, he does not look as young as Ben, who doesn’t appear to have had plastic surgery and doesn’t look like he needs any in the near future.

Dr. Shafer says, “Ben does not appear to have had plastic surgery, although he does look like he may have had cosmetic dentistry. He has nice skin, but still has prominent wrinkles on his mid forehead. His upper forehead has a Botox look, but it is hard to tell for sure.”

brand Kamagra online Ben’s outlook on plastic surgery is different from his wife’s, actress Jennifer Garner, who many believe to have a lip augmentation to get her signature smile (See Make Me Heal’s story on Jennifer Garner’s plastic surgery).

Dr. Aston tells Make Me Heal, “It feels like Ben Affleck has grown up in the Hollywood spotlight. We first met him in 1997 when he played Chuckie Sullivan in Good Will Hunting. He is now married with two daughters and looks better than ever! He has had several public relationships, both good and bad films and all of the usual Hollywood ups and downs. I wish him all the best, especially as a father of two little girls! He doesn’t appear to have had any plastic surgery and does not need any.”

Dr. Nassif agrees, saying, “Ben Affleck looks great.”

The big female name in the cast is relative newcomer Rachel McAdams. Best known for her comedic roles in Mean Girls and Wedding Crashers, at 30, Rachel seems to be ahead of her costars in the plastic surgery department, with a possible nose job and questionable Botox and facial fillers.

    Rachel Mcadams, Plastic Surgery

Dr. Shafer says, “There are a few photos where Rachel has a “Botox look” to her forehead and some photos where she appears to have had cheek fillers. If anything, she might consider some refinements to her nose.”

Her nose is definitely unusual, leading to questions of whether its shape is due to a trauma or a bad rhinoplasty in the past.

Plastic surgeon Dr. John Di Saia says, “Rachel McAdams definitely had at least one rhinoplasty, it’s too narrow and off center. I wonder if she had some facial trauma?”

Dr. Nassif tells Make Me Heal, “Rachel McAdams looks like she has had a rhinoplasty. The narrowing is the result of the collapse of the right middle vault, which causes the nose to look twisted. She also has an inverted V deformity of the middle part of her nose; in other words, the cartilage is collapsing. Her nose has also been over-reduced, so that it is collapsing and pinching as well.”

On the other hand, Rachel’s nose could be entirely natural, and the odd shape one she was born with.

Dr. Sherrell J. Aston says, “I do not believe that Rachel McAdams has had any plastic surgery. She is very petite with pretty delicate features that look natural. If she did have surgery her doctor did a great job! I think that her look gives her a lot of diversity; she can play the girl next-door role as well as a tough cop. I wish her all the best with her acting career.”

Rachel formerly dated another actor with a possible rhinoplasty, Academy Award nominee Ryan Gosling. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Ryan Gosling’s nose job).

With a cast of fine actors, Make Me Heal looks forward to seeing whether or not State of Play is any good and spotting any more plastic surgery in the film.

      Russel, Ben,

      Please NO, NEVER!

Russell will NEVER get any plastic surgery because his acting is so subtle, just the slightest lift of an eyebrow or little mouth downturn are enough to communicate volumes of information. Plastic surgery, botox, whatever, would destroy his expressiveness. Besides, he’s not vain, he’s not in love with his youthful face and he knows as we all do, that the only thing a facelift does is announce to the world that you’re afraid of looking your age.

He’s said he uses sun screen and moisturizer… that’s enough. He’s a rugged guy and I would hate to see his face ruined by tinkering.

Ben should leave his alone too.

“Most people would probably suggest that he needs Botox to help with his forehead and crow’s feet.”

Why on earth would anyone think crow’s feet need “help” ??
They are a sign of humour, character and experience – very sexy words in MY dictionary !

Ben Affleck has definitely had plastic surgery. His teeth he had done early in his career. He has had botox and other skin treatments…his skin was looking very bad just a few years ago. Remember what he looked like when he and JoLo broke up? He looked old, wrinkled, saggy and about 48. He had saggy upper lids, saggy jawline and his nose was larger. He has had an eye job, nose job, and mid face lift or lipo suction of the jawline. Personally, I don’t like it. He looks too smooth and plastic (likely from botox) and way too feminine. He no longer looks like a man. His nose is way too thin for a man. His nose was a lot larger in his earlier films and especially when he was a kid and did that teen show. He is heading in the Bruce Jenner direction. His plastic surgeon went too far…he needed work but should have kept a masculine look. Oh, well. I think he is secretly gay anyway, so this will help him attract more men. ;P

I think Rachel McAdams has had a nose job or two. It even looks different from her recent film compared with her older ones. Other than that though, I think she is a natural beauty. The one thing she should have done is get all those ugly brown moles removed. Why they don’t even cover them up in her films is beyond me. It is distracting and she is such a great beauty otherwise.

As for Russell Crowe, he is such an ugly bowser he NEEDS plastic surgery…head to toe. Every one of his features is ugly…from his eyes, nose, mouth, jawline, to that third eye he has growing between his eyes. What is that a permanent boil???

Ok. Plastic surgeons are ridiculous. People get old. Give that money to a charity and get old you pansies.

Cheri – I couldn’t agree with you more. I was watching “he’s just not into you” and thought Ben looked totally different, and not in a good way. His eyelid lift went too far, along with the nose and teeth. I liked the more manly looking Ben, and the nose is way too small and the eyes too wide open. He as Robert Downey Jr eyes now.

      linda:
You are absolutely right, and you said everything I WAS going to say, only better!! Yes, Ben’s nose is too small now, and I don’t like the way he looks anymore. It is NOT natural looking and looks too feminine. Ick…
