Academy Award nominee Sally Kirkland isn’t one of Hollywood’s most talked about names, but she is one of the most prevalent, appearing in over 120 films in her career. When she’s not on-stage or in front of a camera, Makemeheal.com has found that Sally is advocating for women with breast implants.
68-year old Sally Kirkland still retains her platinum blond hair, but she has given up on breast implants. The Anna actress got implants in the late 1980s, transforming her bust to a 36DD. After having a negative reaction, Sally founded the Kirkland Institute for Implant Survival Syndrome in August, 1998, to caution other women about breast implants, which she says pose certain health risks.
Board certified Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “There are tons of conspiracy theories about breast implants – this is just another one. People are entitled to their opinions, but we should remember that these are just opinions.”
Miami Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “
The FDA is one of the strictest governmental agencies there are. In order for the breast implant companies to receive the FDA’s seal of approval, which there are only two- Mentor and Allergan, the implants had to go through over a 3 year period of core studies, adjunct studies, product trials, and several safety and health reviews. There are long-term studies currently being conducted on breast implants and still there have not been any reports of adverse effects on the patient or their children.”
Like any surgery, breast augmentation does come with certain risks and Make Me Heal advises interested women to do their research carefully before making a choice.
