  • 38- year old Uma Thurman got engaged last week to Arpad Busson, a financier. Uma has previously been married to actors Gary Oldman and Ethan Hawke, with whom she has two children. Seeing Uma in the news, Make Me Heal wondered if there any truth to the long standing prumors of the Pulp Fiction actress having a nose job.

    Uma Thurman, Rhinoplasty

Uma’s transformation has been subtle, if at all. Her nose when she first gained popularity in the 1990s had a very rounded tip. Since then, the tip looks slimmer, but the bridge looks wider. The result is a very natural looking nose, so natural in fact that many question whether or not the rhinoplasty ever took place or if it’s simply makeup artistry. It is possible that in the twenty years since Uma hit the big screen, her nose has adjusted to fit her face.

Uma is now middle-aged and shows very few signs of having grown older. She likely uses Botox carefully, to help relax and remove any wrinkles that crop up, especially on her perfectly smooth forehead, which hardly creases, even when she make facial movements. Moreover, she has no crows feet or nasolabial folds, which could be genetic luck or the result of Restylane or Juvederm fillers. She probably has also had laser treatments like CoolTouch, Pixel, or Fraxel, or a radio-frequency treatment like Thermage to remove signs of aging on the surface of her skin, like fine lines and blemishes.

The lucky man in Uma’s life also happens to be the ex-lover of Elle Macphearson, with whom he has two children. See Make Me Heal’s story on Elle Macphearson’s plastic surgery.

In addition to Botox, Uma Thurman has gone on record and talked about her skin care regimen, which includes the celebrity line Sjal and most notably Sjal Orbe Eye Creme, which may be what is helping protect the skin around her eyes from aging and environment damage.

Uma’s subtle use of plastic surgery has yielded great results, as she is left looking fresh and young, even without heavy make-up. The nose job left Uma without the “done” look of having gone under the knife too many times and we hope she continues to be minimal in her plastic surgery excursions.

The use of surgery is extremely subtle but you can see some evidence with the nose. She does seem to be getting lovelier with the years.

When does middle age begin? I thought it was at 40.

definite nose job, but the surgeon wa clever and went with her nose, not against it. the tip os shorter and refined, as evidenced by a longer philtrum (the area between the nose tip and the upper lip). Her philtrum area was significantly shorter before the nose job. i had reconstructive work done to my nose and also now my philtrum is longer. when the tip is shortened, it inevitably exposes more of the area underneath. it also appears that some eye work was done. from ‘kill bill 1′ to kill bill 2′, her left eye was totally worked on. the upper lid of the left eye in the first movie sagged noticably but y movie 2 it was nice and tight. someone told her parents when she was ten that she’d need a nose job, so i hardly think that did not affect her. even so, her nose if caught at the wrong angle on screen is really not attractive. also, IMO a blah actress despite all the kudos.

Julia..the philtrum is shorter in the 1990′s photo because her head is tipped forward more than in the 2000′s photo. If you draw a line from the ear lobe horizontally across to the nose it hits the middle of the nose in the 1990′s and the nostril in the 2000′s. Also you can see the head is tipped forward because there is eye white showing under the iris in the right hand image….my conclusion, no nose job.

I’m watching a 2008 Uma Thurman movie on TV right now!
I do see some of the changes you’ve pointed out. But to be honest, as a makeup artist I see a lot of shading & some highlighting in the second photo above that certainly would affect the angles and planes of Uma’s face. Wouldn’t be surprised at the use of injectables. But some of the “shaping” around the nose could have been achieved with some MUA’s tricks with the right tools, products, & tones.

There’ve been a lot of amazing advances in makeup artistry in the last decade – mostly because of product developments. I bring this up because I sometimes wonder if the “changes” people are seeing in the faces of celeb women could be as simple as 1) great skin care 2) great makeup artists and their tricks & quality products 3) the passing of time… ???

      Just some thoughts… :-) ))))
