The British footballer turned actor told The Sun: “We were having a laugh with a group of lads whose girlfriends I was doing pictures for. They started having a joke about my films. The next thing I knew I was on the ground with a glass in my face.”
“The blood was pouring out. The attack came from nowhere, I was stunned by it.”
“It was like a car crash, it all happened so quickly.”
43-year old Jones is notorious for his temper on and off the field, which have led to several arrests, and is reported to have become angry after a patron at the bar called him “that guy from X-Men.”
Jones is a large man and often plays rough and tumble characters, which apparently reflect his off-screen personality.
After the glass-strewn brawl, Jones went to Sanford USD Medical Centre where he was treated for cuts to the face and received 48 stitches for all of his wounds.
Given his somewhat brutal appearance, any scars resulting from the incident may actually in more roles for the troubled soul, although many actors would have a plastic surgeon tend to their wounds to help prevent scarring, like James Bond actor Daniel Craig did when he was injured on the set (See Make Me Heal’s story on Daniel Craig’s plastic surgery).
Make Me Heal wishes Jones a speedy recovery and warns any fans not to mess with the tough guy.
