Peter O’Toole, the celebrated thespian and hunk who rose to fame in the 1962 film “Lawrence of Arabia”, obviously still cares about his look and appears to dabble in Botox for his red carpet apperances. The eight-time Oscar nominee and this year’s nominee for Best Actor (”Venus”) manages to have a smooth forehead free of any deep horizontal wrinkles, frown lines, and glabellar lines (the lines between the eyebrows) that typically grace the face of a man of 74 years of age (as seen in this February 5, 2007 photos from Wireimage). These age-defying feats are typically the outcome of recent Botox injections. Additionally, it is quite possible that O’Toole’s “open” eyes, the lack of undereye bags, and lack of hooding of skin over his eyes is the result of a previous blepharoplasty. Fellow member of the Make Me Heal Oscar Coverage team plastic surgeon Anthony Youn had a few words to say about O’Toole: “Peter O’Toole’s smooth forehead could be a sign of recent Botox injections. In addition to a minimum of wrinkles in the forehead, the Oscar nominated actor also appears to have retraction of his lower eyelids. This can be the result of scar tissue or too much skin being removed during a blepharoplasty. It can create dry eyes and the look of the lower eyelids being drawn downward.” Having inspected various photos of O’Toole from different time periods, it appears that O’Toole’s blepharoplasty was done in the early to mid 1980’s. Nevertheless, the cosmetic work is subtle and does not in any way make O’Toole look overdone.
