Over 45% Of Women Want Bigger Breast Implants

Posted on August 29th, 2007 in Breast Augmentation, Implants, Reduction by Jet H. Ross

The virtues of breast implants have been widely discussed in both words and pictures, with breast augmentation patients often citing not only an improved physical appearance, but also a greater self-confidence and body image, better love prospects and more marketability in the job market. But virtually no attention has been given to a common problem that plagues a wide number of plastic surgery patients who undergo breast augmentations. In a poll conducted by Make Me Heal (www.makemeheal.com), 45% of breast augmentation patients admitted that they wished they got bigger breasts than the size they ended up with following surgery, while 14% wanted smaller implants than the actual size they got. Of the respondents, 41% said the breast size they received was the one they wanted.

Speaking about the problem of getting the right size breast implants, one patient nicknamed domesticgoddess wrote on the Make Me Heal message boards, I have moderate profiles and I wish I would have pushed for the high profiles in a larger cc volume. I thought I wanted that natural look but now I just want that perky upper pole fullness without having to wear a bra.

A second patient with a username “connies said, I went from a b to a double dd and now I am used to them. After 9 weeks I think I could have gone bigger!

The problem of patients getting their breasts augmented to a size that they wished was bigger or smaller stems from the very fact that one cannot actually measure accurately the breast size they want to be. Moreover, breast implants are not like clothing, as one cannot actually “try on” an implant before deciding which size to get. While doctors will do everything to help patients better communicate the breast size they want by having patients bring in photos of women with breasts they desire, using digital imaging software to show patients the size they can be, or by having the patient put bags of rice in their bras at home, these methods do not lead to an accurate determination of what breast size the patient actually desires. As a result of these rough methods, women often find themselves getting breast implants that are smaller than the size they wanted. The only way to rectify this problem is to go under the knife a second time, remove the existing implants, and have bigger implants re-inserted. But the idea of having to get plastic surgery again is not appealing to most patients, who settle for their new breast size, despite it not being the ideal one they wanted.

Breast Implant Sizer Helps Women Get The Breast Size & Look They Desire

Breast Implants SizerBut there is hope apparently for women about to undergo a breast augmentation. In light of so many women with breast implants ending up having breasts that are not the size they wanted, Make Me Heal began offering this month the Breast Implants Sizer, a simple, yet powerful tool that enables women seeking to get breast implants to better visualize the breast size that they desire and to determine more accurately how many cubic centimeters (also known as “cc’s”, which are the measurement of implants) their implants should be. As over 50% of women today who have breast augmentations either have difficulty in figuring out exactly the size they should be or after having surgery wish they chose a different size than they got, Make Me Heal’s Breast Implant Sizer helps ensure that a woman will be able to get the right size that she desires with no regrets.

The Breast Implant Sizer comes with two implants that are filled by a syringe with water. The syringe has millimeter measurements, and 1 millimeter is equal to 1 cubic centimeter (this is the measurement used for determining breast implant size). As one fills the implant with the syringe multiple times, the patient simply needs to write down on paper how many cc’s one is adding each time. When a desired size is achieved, the implant is inserted inside the bra and the patient is able to visualize how the implant fits. The patient can walk around with the implant all day and get a more accurate visualization of how they would look and feel at that size. As the implant can go up to 600 cc’s, one can adjust the implant to visualize their new look in different sizes.

Porn Star Jenna Jameson Removes Breast Implants

Posted on August 27th, 2007 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Lisa Stern

The porn world’s biggest star Jenna Jameson, who has just quit the adult entertainment business, has capped off her retirement by removing her famous breast implants. Jameson removed her breast implants two weeks ago in a move that downgraded her bust from a D-cup to a C-up. The surgery was performed August 1, 2007 in Beverly Hills by leading plastic surgeon Dr. Garth Fisher.

“A woman’s sexuality is not defined by the size of her bust. I absolutely love the way I look and feel now. I am experiencing pure bliss for the first time in my life,” said Jameson.

Jenna Jameson, Breast Implants, RemovalJameson admits that when she had implants she was uncomfortable with them. Jameson says “When I had implants, I felt uncomfortable. I would be shy at the beach. I know it sounds funny, but I’d wear high-necked clothes - unless I was at an adult-film convention. So I thought, ‘Why don’t I be who I am and get my real ones back?’”

Jameson appears to have no regrets about having this plastic surgery and says the removal of her breast implants has been a liberating experience.

jenna jameson, breast reduction, implants removal“Even for women with naturally large boobs, getting a reduction is so freeing. I feel like I can stand up straighter…before, when I jogged, I had to hold my boobs. I looked like I was molesting myself!”

“The first thing I did when I got home (after surgery) was open my bra. I wasn’t supposed to but I did. I was so happy, I cried. It was like looking into the mirror when I was 17.”

Jameson has lost a significant amount of weight over the past year and has been spotted on numerous occasions with excessively augmented lips, most likely the result of Restylane or collagen injections. This latest move to remove her breast implants may have also been affected by an unhappy plastic surgery experience Jameson recently had, namely a vaginoplasty procedure that had gone wrong and left Jameson displeased with the appearance of her privates (read the complete article on Jenna Jameson’s vaginoplasty). Jameson, who had been trying to turn her best-selling book “How to Make Love Like a Porn Star” into a movie, stopped showing up to her Hollywood studio meetings because of the botched procedure which left her very unhappy with the results. Since the vaginoplasty, the star of hundreds of x-rated films has allegedly gone into hiding until her valuable privates heal. The botched vaginoplasty may have expedited Jameson’s decision to quit the porn industry, as her major asset may no longer have been in the aesthetic shape known to her fans.

Vaginoplasty is an aesthetic procedure to enhance the vulvar and vagina structures. There are different types of vaginoplasties, including the reduction of the labia majora (outer lips), liposculpturing of the fatty mons pubis and labia majora, and autologous fat transplant to the labia majora to enhance them.

While the former porn star swears that she is completely done with the porn business forever, she will continue to run her $30-million-a-year ClubJenna porn business.

Liposuction Stops Natasha’s Bulimia

Posted on August 23rd, 2007 in Personal Interviews by Makemeheal.com Staff

Plastic surgery can help one’s body image and in Natasha’s (member name: Nat425) case, having body body image issues has been her daily struggle since she was a little kid. Looking at pictures of this 33-year old Asian beauty, one could hardly believe that she fell into a bulimia spiral for nearly a decade. Natasha was never fat or obese but had what she calls “chubby legs” and even though she was active, she could never fit properly in her clothing.

See Natasha’s Before & After Plastic Surgery Pictures Album.

Liposuction Pictures, Photos

At age 13, Natasha became bulimic and it continued until her early 20’s. She would starve herself and take lots of speed hoping that one day she’d be thin and get rid of her thighs but it never happened. She got thinner, but no one would never ever think that she could possibly have an eating disorder. She also exercised through the majority of this time as well but being fit never did anything to rid her of the fat on her thighs and buttocks. The only thing she dreamt of since early age was to have some plastic surgery to rid her of problem areas. As she got older, Natasha stopped her self-destructing behavior and continued to exercise and eat a daily diet of 2-3 bagels, a lot of caffeine and a load of cigarettes.

After nearly 15 years of being dissatisfied with her body, she decided to let it go. Soon, Natasha ate anything she wanted, drank a lot of alcohol and ballooned up to a size 12. That lasted almost a year when she felt really depressed… and then she began the South Beach Diet. She lost 25 pounds and felt great. She quit smoking and started working out, but while she could build muscle in her legs, she still could not get rid of areas of fat.

Since going on her South Beach Diet, Natasha has been eating extremely healthy for years and takes a lot of supplements to keep her body in tip-top shape. For the last 5-6 years, Natasha has been a size 6.

Her decision to have liposuction was an easy one. She has been wanting the surgery since she was in her early 20’s, around the same time she stopped her bulimia journey. Now, at 33, Natasha is absolutely pleased. Her tumescent liposuction was performed by plastic surgeon Bruce White at St. Louis Cosmetic Surgery. She had 3950 cc’s removed from her hips, lower abs, buttocks, knees, inner/outer/anterior/thighs and is finally able to look at herself for the first time with complete joy. She can try on clothes and not have a breakdown because nothing fits. She feels that she is not just this “pretty in the face” girl with chubby legs anymore. She has never felt this good about herself or being alive and is deeply in love with her husband.

Another winner in this journey is Natasha’s husband Tazu who told Make Me Heal “I’m thrilled about it. Natasha looks HOT! The real reason I’m thrilled though is that liposuction has done wonders for her emotionally. Also, it has re-ignited her devotion to physical fitness. I’m sure you can imagine what happens to the sex life when the woman looks and feels sexy!.

See Natasha’s Before & After Plastic Surgery Pictures Album.

Dr. Bruce White from St. Louis Cosmetic Surgery performed Natasha’s liposuction.

Make Me Heal: When did you first have the idea to have your procedure?

Natasha: I began considering liposuction over twelve years ago and had my first consultation at that time.

Make Me Heal: What were your motivations behind your decision to have the procedure?

Natasha: Throughout my life, I have always been active and have never been able to make a change in my shape of my thighs. Because I was fit and never looked it on my bottom half, liposuction was my only solution, physically. Emotionally, it is beyond frustrating not being able to fit into pants or dresses because your body is disproportionate. This is the first time in my life that I look like how I feel. I look more active because the fat is finally gone and no exercise or diet was helping me eliminate those extra layers.

Make Me Heal: How long did it take you to make a decision and was it an easy or difficult one to make?

Natasha: It took me a nanosecond to decide to have the surgery; the decision was extremely easy to make. My challenge was how and when it was going to fit into my schedule and pocketbook. It took twelve years to finally have the procedure and luckily, with time, comes advances in technology.

Make Me Heal: Did your family, friends, and any other people in your close circle give you support, opposition, or did you make this decision without considering them?

Natasha: I did not consider anyone in my decision. I told a lot of people I was having it and I received 99% support and 1% opposition. Liposuction is a personal decision; no one knows how anyone else feels about his or her body.

Make Me Heal: How did you research the procedure and come to decide on this particular procedure?

Natasha: I had the opportunity to work closely with a plastic surgery practice several years ago and became very knowledgeable about the procedures and newest technologies. From the start, I knew that I would have tumescent liposuction. I researched the newer procedures on my own through websites and trade journals.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss if you used any of Make Me Heal’s resources.

Natasha: Make Me Heal has been such a phenomenal resource. I have spent and continue to spend time on the boards learning from other women’s experiences and their transition to their new bodies. It has also been a great single source for the entire process—from garments to emotional support.

Make Me Heal: How did you come to choose your doctor?

Natasha: My first consultation was twelve years ago when I worked for Washington University Medical School. I consulted with the Chief of Plastic Surgery and I was ecstatic about the changes he could make in my figure. His intern, whom I had a semi-close working relationship with, came to my office and told me that I shouldn’t have the surgery because women were coming in, asking for body shapes similar to my own. I’m not sure if I was very serious in my decision making at that time because his comment came and went and I decided not to have the surgery. I believe that it had more to do with my budget; that was a large sum of money for a recent college graduate. For years, I regretted that I didn’t go through with it when I was just 21 years old.

My second consultation wasn’t for another eight years. I spent nearly five years on the road for work and my career was my top priority. When I stopped traveling for work, I consulted the surgeon I worked with. I was very impressed by his skill, his staff and his bedside manner. I was set to have my surgery, however I suddenly had to move out of state—strike two!

My final consultation (three’s a kicker) was with Dr. Bruce White of St. Louis Cosmetic Surgery. I spent months researching St. Louis physicians and I kept going back to his profile; his education, extensive experience and personal story stuck with me and I decided that I’d go to him for a consultation. I made my appointment for surgery a few weeks after meeting with him.

Make Me Heal: How did you prepare for the surgery?

Natasha: I turned to the ladies on the Make Me Heal forum to help me with a shopping list for items I would need for surgery. The most important things that helped me in the first few days of recovery were

1. Disposable paper cups (tear the bottom out so you can use it as a funnel when you urinate).

2. Frozen veggies to put on my legs.

3. Foam wedges to keep my feet and legs elevated at all times.

In addition to these items, it was also helpful to have lots of water, lemon and light foods in the house. I also made a promise to myself that I would document my procedure. I began my blog, www.lipojourney.blogspot.com to provide others insight on my personal journey. This has become a very important process for me.

Make Me Heal: How were you feeling the night before the surgery and on the moments before the surgery itself?

Natasha: I was so incredibly busy before surgery that I didn’t really have any time to think about it. This was twelve years of waiting, finally coming to fruition. I know I was excited beyond belief and at the same time, hoping that I’d be okay.

Make Me Heal: How was the recovery process?

Natasha: The great thing about recovery is it gets better each day. I have a hard time with anesthesia and when I work up in the recovery room I was in and out for what felt like 15 minutes, but probably closer to three hours. I got sick, which is normal for me and somehow I made it out okay. The nurses were extremely attentive and never left my side.

The next morning and afternoon was amazing. I was attentive, full of energy and ready to take on the world, however things got a little rocky that evening and the next day. I had an adverse reaction to one of my medications and due to that, was taken off of all medications. After that, it was smooth sailing. I was sore, like the infamous saying “it feels like a hard workout”, but I managed and Tylenol was more than enough for the pain. The more I walked, the better I felt. I was only going at glacial speed, but my body was really tired and achy from so much sitting. My husband waited on me hand and foot the entire time; I couldn’t have asked for more.

I think the worst parts of my recovery were: First, the foam under my garment. It’s necessary to have, but it impeded my ability to walk normally; I kind of shuffled around until it was removed. Secondly, I’m a side sleeper and it was difficult for me to sleep on my back the entire night. This wasn’t too bad, but just out of the norm for me.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss the pain or discomfort you experienced during the recovery?

Natasha: The most painful area of my body was my lower back, just right above my buttocks. I originally thought that it was due to sleeping on my back, however I learned on my first post-op visit, that that area was liposuctioned. At that time, I wasn’t really putting two and two together. Knowing that made me feel a lot better.

I wasn’t in real pain; I’ve had worse headaches than what I felt with liposuction. It really is true that you feel like you had a “hard workout”.

Make Me Heal: How well prepared were you for the recovery from physical, emotional, and mental respects?

Natasha: I was as prepared as I could have been. I was and still am realistic in my recovery and results. I knew I would be sore, I knew I would be black and blue and swollen.

Make Me Heal: What are your top recovery tips to other patients?

Natasha: Maintain a healthy diet and begin exercising when your surgeon gives you the thumbs up. Be patient; your body will transform with time. Remember, six months!

If you smoke, quit. Remain realistic about your procedure, recovery and results.

Walk.

Swelling is completely normal and it goes away with time.

Make Me Heal: How long did you take off from work? What did you tell your co-workers about taking this time off? Did anyone notice your cosmetic procedures at work and what did you tell them if they asked about it?

Natasha: Six days, I had my surgery on Wednesday, April 25, and returned to work the following Tuesday. A few of my co-workers knew that I was having the procedure. I work mostly from home and I’m only in my office a few times a month and, other than those who knew, no one has really said anything. They’re not the type of people that would notice anyway. If they were to ask me if I had cosmetic surgery, I’d be honest and tell them, probably more than they would ever want to know, too.

Make Me Heal: How happy are you with the results?

Natasha: I’m beyond happy and I’m still healing. I look forward to all the small changes.

Make Me Heal: How has your makeover impacted your life from personal, social, career, and other respects?

Natasha: It’s quite amazing how this has transformed my life; I certainly was not prepared for the overwhelming feelings that I’ve had since my surgery. I already was an outgoing person, but now I’m 100%. It’s hard to explain, but I’m more motivated and more connected with myself. My body finally matches how I feel I should have been looking my whole life. I don’t have anything getting in my way anymore and buying pants is so much easier!

Make Me Heal: Would you have done anything differently if you had the chance?

Natasha: Absolutely not.

Make Me Heal: What is your final word of advice to other people considering the procedure you had?

Natasha: Be patient with your results; they will come!

Make Me Heal: Was Make Me Heal beneficial to you along your journey?

Natasha: Absolutely and I’ll remain part of the Make Me Heal community for a long, long time.

Michelle Pfeiffer’s Plastic Surgery Comeback

Posted on August 22nd, 2007 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by YuMin Ye

Michelle Pfeiffer, Plastic Surgery, FaceliftMichelle Pfeiffer is back, in more ways than one. The 49-year-old actress is making a comeback with her performance in “Hairspray,” and the just-released film “Stardust”, after a long absence from the limelight. Pfeiffer also got her star on the Hollywood Walk of fame earlier this month. But that’s not all. This catwoman is returning with a remarkably fresh-looking face — one that some people are saying is better than they’ve ever known Michelle to have. While the rest of the world falls prey to the aging process, it appears that Michelle Pfeiffer is an anomaly when it comes to growing older – or more reasonably – she’s had some plastic surgery.

Although Pfeiffer previously said that she is open to plastic surgery but is not yet ready for it at this juncture, it now seems she was lying all along. Pfeiffer has already gotten a nose job earlier in her career (see the thinner nose tip below) and dermal fillers such as Botox and Restylane injections appear to be evident in light of her wrinkle-free forehead and lack of facial lines that normally grace the faces of people approaching 50 years of existence.

Michelle Pfeiffer, Rhinoplasty, Nose Job

Pfeiffer has also been linked to cheek augmentation rumors for at least two decades, as her plump cheeks appear to be unchanged from her younger days and unaffected by gravity despite the fact that loss of fat occurs with age along with a descent of one’s cheek fat pad downwards as one ages. Furthermore, it can be speculated that Pfeiffer has dabbled in lip injections, as her upper lips appear to be greatly augmented in some photos, signaling the possibility of collagen or restylane injections to plump her lips up. While Pfeiffer has slight under eye bags and a modest appearance of crows feet, her eyes look decidedly refreshed for her age. The actress’s lack of excess fat or skin hanging over her eyes could be natural or a possible sign that she has had a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). If this is the case, then it would appear she only had her upper eyelids done since the lower lids are not as refreshed.

Last year, Pfeiffer already confessed to considering a facelift for the future, and now it’s looking like it may be a reality. She told In Style magazine, “I toy with it. When I’m rested, I look pretty darn OK. I can hold off on that facelift for another few years. [But] when I’m feeling weary, then I think, maybe I better make that appointment.” Her face is practically free of wrinkle lines on her forehead or crow’s feet around her eyes. So while it was already speculated that she had Botox injections on her forehead, she may have gotten a mini-facelift to keep her neck taut and keep her jawline tight and free of jowls. By looking at photos taken of Michelle Pfeiffer at the premiere of “Hairspray” in July of this year, her face manifests a completely flawless forehead with no extra overhanging, sagging skin around her jaw, chin or neck. This can be the result of great natural genes or a mini-facelift. While it is possible that she is aging naturally, it is nearly impossible to have a completely wrinkle-free forehead nearing 50. Moreover, there are photos of her from before that show wrinkles in her forehead, which is more evidence that she is taking a dive into the fountain of youth, washing those lines away. Moreover, it is likely that Pfeiffer has had some non-surgical skin treatments or laser procedures such as Thermage and peels that aim to keep one’s skin youthful and radiant. And radiant and flawless is Michelle’s skin.

Whatever the case, Michelle Pfeifer is loving her comeback. “Now that I’m working again, I realize I really like this stuff,” she says. With Pfeiffer looking this good, it’s likely that her fans will continue to come in droves to see her films. As for plastic surgery, she admits to being tempted to dive in and hopes that she will be “courageous enough to age gracefully”. Pfeiffer says, “Aging happens to every single one of us. Once you accept that, it unburdens you.”

It’s a nice philosophy, as long as it is practiced for it seems that Michelle long ago ditched this life mantra and fell to the temptation of the knife…and may fall for it again and again.

Whatever the case may be, Michelle Pfeiffer looks astonishingly young for her age and if there is cosmetic surgery behind her looks, then it is extremely well executed and completely natural-looking.

Plastic Surgery For Gwyneth Paltrow?

Posted on August 22nd, 2007 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Rachelle Farnsworth

Beautiful and enchanting Gwyneth Paltrow has filled our eyes with her superb elegance and class for years on the big screen and now after a few years of laying low and being a mommy, she has decided to revamp herself and step back into the limelight. Her photo shoot for W Magazine’s upcoming September issue, sudden spurt of Gwyneth interviews in magazines, and her film “Iron Man” opposite Hilary Swank and Robert Downey Jr. equate to what could be a powerful comeback for one of Hollywood’s most glamorous stars. But amidst all the excitement, some people have began to speculate if the physical toll of motherhood may have Gwyneth rushing to get plastic surgery in the near future to restore her body to the glamorous shape that fans have been accustomed to seeing.

Gwyneth Paltrow, Breast Implants, Augmentation

Gwyneth has voiced some concern about the physical changes in her body due to her pregnancies and breastfeeding of her two children Moses and Apple. Trying to restore oneself back to the body you had prior to motherhood once recognized as your own is quite challenging after children and Gwyneth admits to being right up there along with the majority of women who face this feat. Gwyneth has been particularly concerned with her stomach and her breasts.

Gwyneth stated to friends, “My stomach is rippling, my breasts don’t feel good. I’ve been trying to work it out. I want to do something about it.” She adds “And I’ve been breastfeeding, which has been causing me so much problems.”

Along with the strict macro diet Gwyneth keeps herself to and regular exercise her body will most likely find itself back to normal rather quickly. From the look of her W Magazine shoot photos (although likely airbrushed), it does not look like liposuction or a tummy tuck will be a necessity right now, simply because Gwyneth’s adherence to watching her diet and most likely marvelous genes have kept her quite beautifully intact. Just looking at her mother and actress Blyth Danner, Gwyenth’s svelte body takes after her 64-old mother’s thin frame.

However, the repercussions that childbirth can have on a women’s breasts are out of the mother’s hands and impossible to fix without the aid of breast augmentation and/or lift. Breast sagging and loss of breast volume occur following childbirth and breastfeeding for a considerable number of mothers. Being that these risks are heightened with each successive pregnancy, Gwyneth may have suffered some of these issues after the birth of her second child Moses Bruce Anthony Martin. While current photos do not allow Make Me Heal to speculate as to the condition of Gwyenth’s breasts, for a woman of Gwyneth’s build and modest breast size (likely a B-cup breast size), there is a good possibility that a breast lift or mastoplexy will suffice in bringing her back to her youthful perkiness. This procedure is done by making an incision usually below the breast and simply raising the position the areola and nipple reside. On the other hand, Gwyenth may simply want to upgrade her bust with small implants and may not need to have a lift as the implants can compensate for any sagging.

Incidentally, Gwyenth is a fan of boobs, having commented publicly how much she adores Madonna’s breasts – which many believe to be fake breast implants. “They are fantastic, by the way,” said Gwyenth about Madonna’s assets to People magazine.

Gwyneth Paltrow, Nose Job, Rhinoplasty

If in the future Gwyneth does decide to take on a breast augmentation or lift, or the combination of the two which generally works nicely hand in hand, it will not be the first time she’s committed herself to plastic surgery. Make me Heal was on her trail the first instance there was word of a nose job years ago. Her nose appears to be thinner, the tip is narrower, and the overall nose is more sleek looking

In Gwyenth’s more recent appearances and especially at the Oscars, she looked as though a few more things may be helping her behind the scenes including some skin tightening procedures.

Plastic surgeon Anthony Youn remarked to Make Me Heal that Gwyneth’s face now looks a bit thinner, possibly because of loss of fat that is due to the aging process. However, Gwyenth’s exceptional skin condition and lack of wrinkles may have benefited from some tratements.

“She may have also had some laser or chemical peel treatments to her face which have tightened her skin, says Youn.

Some have speculated that Gwyenth has also had a chin augmentation in her past to make her nose more prominent. This procedure is sometimes performed with a rhinoplasty (nose job) to balance out one’s face.

Some older photos of Gwyenth Paltrow show a less defined chin, whereas more recent photos do make her look more sculpted and poised. If chin augmentation was a catalyst for this transformation, the results are truly impressive.

Only time will tell if Gwyenth resorts to the knife. Regardless of any plastic surgery she may or may not have, it will be pure pleasure for all of Gwyneth fans to witness this beauty’s leap back into the acting game that she helped define. Her presence on screen is truly captivating and all the more so this time around considering the added layers of womanhood she’s obtained in becoming a mother, and the work she’s willing to admit necessary in maintaining that role of being a Hollywood glamour lady and star.

Plastic Surgery Gift For Bridget

Posted on August 17th, 2007 in Personal Interviews by Makemeheal.com Staff

Bridget VanGinkel (member name: carat-queen) first went under the knife in 1996, when she decided to have a breasts augmentation with saline implants. But living in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, neither the town nor Bridget was yet ready for a big change and decided to only upgrade one size bigger, from a B cup to a small C cup.

Breast Augmentation Pictures, Tummy Tuck, Liposuction

See Bridget’s Before & After Plastic Surgery Pictures Album.

As years went by, Bridget did not watch her diet, nor she exercised much, had beautiful babies and…gained a lot of weight. In reaction to her new appearance, Bridget became anti-social and avoided most of her friends or even going out. She refused to let her husband see her naked and ultimately had a tearful breakdown. With the help of the Weight Watchers’ program, she lost 75 pounds. But her weight loss left her with excess loose skin and she remained unhappy and unable to look at her own body.

For her 32 birthday, Bridget took the best decision she’s ever made and decided to enjoy life to the fullest and get a no-expense-spared makeover. Without being discouraged by the cost of plastic surgery, she took a loan and soon, was scheduled with Dr. David Janssen to have a full tummy tuck, breast implant replacement, liposuction, and arm and thigh lifts. The new Siltex-Gel-filled implants looks much more natural and was inserted through her breast fold and placed under her muscle. With 600 cc’s, Bridget boosted herself to a beautiful 38D size. The liposuction was performed on her inner thighs, arms and abdomen along with a full tummy tuck that helped Bridget to wear a size 8 dress (she was previously a size 12). And happily, the thigh and arm lifts solved the loose skin problem.

To describe how much her plastic surgery experience has impacted Bridget’s life is beyond words.

Bridget says, “Only being nine weeks post op the impact is slowing kicking in. My social life has improved I am not tugging at my clothes constantly. On a personal level words can’t explain what changes I am going through. I wore a tank top out in public for the 1st time the other day and I was nervous and felt like I was having a panic attack, but all was well. Getting your mind to catch up with the physical changes is the new challenge. I look in the mirror 100+ times a day. I can’t believe what I see. It really is me.”

To best prepare her surgery, Bridget met people through the Make Me Heal community, and participated in the Plastic Surgery Message Boards and saw before and after pictures of real patients in the Plastic Surgery Pictures, all of which helped her tremendously in validating her decision to have her makeover.

Dr. Abu Jama from Green Bay WI, performed Bridget’s first breast augmentation.

Dr. David Janssen from Oshkosh, WI, performed Bridget’s latest plastic surgeries.

See Bridget’s Before & After Plastic Surgery Pictures Album.

Make Me Heal: When did you first have the idea to have your procedure?

Bridget: Two years ago I had made the decision to have these procedures done as a gift to myself for losing the weight and maintaining it. I had wanted to have these procedures done a long time ago, however I wanted to wait until I was done having Children and I was ready to commit to myself the life changes involved with being a healthy weight.

Make Me Heal: What were your motivations behind your decision to have the procedure?

Bridget: My emotional state was a wreck. I never wanted my Husband to see my naked. He is very supportive of my and did understand however It was really hard to deal with as I saw myself differently than him.

My physical activity was low, as I never wanted to do anything that would make me feel upset for the way I look. I knew my life would be different if I was happy with myself.

My social activity was very anti social. I never wanted to be with groups of people. I even had a hard time going to church at times. I would get a workout trying on many different outfits trying to find something I felt good in. Many times it would result in a tearful breakdown and me staying home.

Make Me Heal: How long did it take you to make a decision and was it an easy or difficult one to make?

Bridget: It didn’t take long to come to the decision to have the surgery. It was an easy one to make. I needed this. I had to correct what having children and being over weight had done to me. I also had to be happy with myself. Money was the issue and it came to me taking a loan out from my bank.

Make Me Heal: Did your family, friends, and any other people in your close circle give you support, opposition, or did you make this decision without considering them?

Bridget: I only told a few people I had this surgery. Most my friends are from church and many of them view this as I should be happy with God has given me. I am thankful God has given the Doctors the skill to perform this great skill. My husband was my greatest support. He was great through the whole process pre op and well as after care. My decision was not based on what anyone thought. It was based on what I wanted and needed.

Make Me Heal: How did you research the procedure and come to decide on this particular procedure?

Bridget: I did all my research online. I started with the Doctors in the state, and what they specialized in. Viewed their websites. I made sure they were all board certified. Once I had it narrowed down to 5 I called and talked to the receptionist as well as their heath nurse. That helped me narrow the Doctors to 3 than I did a criminal background search. I was surprised what I found and I was than narrowed down to two Doctors. I never let cost pay a part in what Doctor I picked. The Doctor I had picked specialized in extreme tummy tucks and had written textbooks on particular procedures. I also like the fact he does arm lift without the huge scars running from armpit to elbow, same for the thigh lift. The scars are hidden in the groin area, not from groin to knee.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss if you used any of Make Me Heal’s resources.

Bridget: I did use the pictures on make me heal to help prepare me for what I was into. It was nice to see real pictures of real woman that weren’t fixed up to make then look better. I found it also useful to view and see the bad outcomes as well as you should keep in mind things can go wrong, however if you pick a good doctor they should be willing to do revisions later on if needed.

Make Me Heal: How did you come to choose your doctor?

Bridget: I was able to narrow it down with researching the Doctors on the internet and viewing their websites, emailing and calling them. In the end there was only one Doctor I was willing to see for a consultation.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss if you have any role in deciding the type of technique used for your surgery by the doctor?

Bridget: I was to pick by the techniques the doctor was going to use. I was happy with the placement of all the incision placements. I felt he knew what he was doing and trusted his best judgment.

Make Me Heal: How did you prepare for the surgery?

Bridget: I prepared for an entire month. I deep cleaned the house from top to bottom. Made sure all laundry was washed. Went grocery shopping the day before. It was like preparing for the new baby to come home, But I was the newborn person coming home.

I bought was 2 body pillows and a brand new satin blanket for comfort. I didn’t involve any family members besides my husband and children. I needed to prepare my 14 yr old as well as my 9 yr old. I am self-employed so I didn’t have to make arrangements for work.

Make Me Heal: How were you feeling the night before the surgery and on the moments before the surgery itself?

Bridget: The night before my surgery I was excited. I wasn’t scared at all. I felt this was in Gods Hands and didn’t help to get all upset about it. My night went on just like every other night of the week.

Make Me Heal: How was the recovery process?

Bridget: My Husband had taken a week off of work to help me recover. The worst part of recovery was trying to sit and stand back up after using the toilet. Showering was uncomfortable as well. I spent the 1st week sleeping on the sofa with my pillows under my legs. I tried to sleep in the bed ,but it was not very comfortable for me.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss the pain or discomfort you experienced during the recovery?

Bridget: The pain wasn’t bad. I had a pain pump for the first 3 days. That helped a lot. I also made sure to take my pain medication every 4 hours so I could manage the pain. I think that is key to keep the medication in your body so you don’t hit rock bottom with pain. The second week I was able to take over the counter pain medication to help. By the end of the second week I was off the medication.

Make Me Heal: How well prepared were you for the recovery from physical, emotional, and mental respects?

Bridget: Having previous surgeries in the past I knew what I was in for. So I was mentally and physically prepared, however the emotional recovery surprised me. I did cry

Make Me Heal: What are your top recovery tips to other patients?

Bridget: Relax and don’t try to over do your activity even if you feel you good. Use good pain management. Keep your binders on. Take many pictures so you can see your transformation.

Make Me Heal: How long did you take off from work? What did you tell your co-workers about taking this time off? Did anyone notice your cosmetic procedures at work and what did you tell them if they asked about it?

Bridget: Being self-employed I did what I could. I was out of the office for about a week. When I would work I would work until I was uncomfortable and go rest for a while. I kept my surgery a secret to most people in my circle.

Make Me Heal: How happy are you with the results?

Bridget: At first I didn’t like the results. It takes your mind some time to except the new you. Plus I was quite swollen so it is hard to see the results. Now going on 9 weeks post op I am loving the results.

Make Me Heal: How has your makeover impacted your life from personal, social, career, and other respects?

Bridget: Only being nine weeks post op the impact is slowing kicking in. My social life has improved I am not tugging at my clothes constantly. On a personal level words can’t explain what changes I am going through. I wore a tank top out in public for the 1st time the other day and I was nervous and felt like I was having a panic attach, but all was well. Getting your mind to catch up with the physical changes is the new challenge. I look in the mirror 100+ times a day. I can’t believe what I see. It really is me.

Make Me Heal: Would you have done anything differently if you had the chance?

Bridget: The only thing I would have done differently would have been to have this done sooner.

Make Me Heal: What is your final word of advice to other people considering the procedure you had?

Bridget: Don’t let the fear of these procedures keep you from having any of them done. You are worth it, and have the right to be happy about yourself inside and out. The most important thing is doing the research of the doctor and choose one that suits your procedures best, not the cheapest!

Make Me Heal: Was Make Me Heal beneficial to you along your journey?

Bridget: Make me heal was a huge part of by journey and very important before and after. I have given out the website address to a few of my friends that are considering surgery as they also have lose weight are faced with extra skin.

Heidi Klum’s Comeback: Plastic Surgery Or Natural?

Posted on August 17th, 2007 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Jet H. Ross

Emerging from her third childbirth less than a year ago, supermodel Heidi Klum has made a strong comeback and is now seen strutting her same, pre-motherhood gorgeous body on a multitude of fashion catwalks and magazine covers. Heidi Klum, Naked,Nude, Plastic Surgery

But folks are scratching their heads about how after having three children in the space of just two and a half years, the 34-year old mom is able to maintain her incredible hard tummy, svelte body shape, with no sign of any fat, muscle or skin slackness on her body. Is it plastic surgery working behind the scenes or just the result of good hard work and reality-defying genes?

From topless ads for Jordache to doing a nude photoshoot for Arena Magazine’s upcoming September issue, Heidi Klum wants everyone to know that motherhood has been kind on her and that it has had not taken any toll on her body. While most mothers struggle to lose the weight following childbirth, Klum was back on the fashion runways with a flat tummy only three weeks after having her son Johan. Following giving birth, it appeared that Heidi Klum’s tummy was not as hard as it used to be and that her hips were curvier than her usual. But now, Heidi is back to her former model shape and has no loose skin, no distended abdominal muscles, and no stretch marks. Heidi’s breasts have the same volume and perkiness and show no sagging. In contrast, many mothers lose breast volume and breasts sag after childbirth.

While some have wondered if laser liposuction, tummy tuck, or breast lift may have given help to the model to return to modeling so quickly, Make Me Heal has found no such evidence and concludes that the model has been resorting to hard workouts, sound nutrition and the blessing of good genes. It’s also likely that Heidi kept her workouts up to the last month of pregnancy. Klum actually attributes her quick weight loss following child birth to breast feeding.

Heidi Klum, Breast Implants, AugmentationWhile Heidi Klum’s current body shape has been achieved naturally, she appears to have had some plastic surgery in her past, namely a breast augmentation. While Heidi clearly benefits from her boss Victoria Secret’s push-up bras (Heidi has been a model for VS for years), the growth of her breasts cannot be explained solely by these wonderful contraptions. It appears that Klum’s breast implants helped her increase from a B to C cup breast size, which is a modest increase that does not scream fake implants. Overall, the effect has obviously boosted Klum’s career to the upside. Breast implants among supermodels is not uncommon, as Giselle Bundchen also had a breast augmentation during her career.

No Plastic Surgery For Jodie Foster

Posted on August 16th, 2007 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Lisa Stern

Jodie Foster, Plastic SurgeryJodie Foster has put to rest all plastic surgery rumors about her past, present, and future by giving a vote against going under the knife.

“It’s not my thing,” said Foster in an upcoming magazine interview with More magazine.

The ageless beauty has a remarkably wrinkle free face and has no signs of jowling on her jaw or any loose skin on her neck. This may normally be explained by the possibility that Foster has dabbled in Botox or Restylane injections or a mini facelift. But it seems that all hopes for attributing her youthful appearance to plastic surgery have been dashed, as Foster is decidedly against having any surgery in her life.

While the actress is not against the idea of plastic surgery for other people, she simply does not imagine herself wanting to have any procedure such as a facelift, breast implants, or tummy tuck for herself.

“I don’t have anything against it for other people. Whatever they want to do, I’m fine with it. For me, it’s really a self-image thing. Like, I’d rather have somebody go, ‘Wow, that girl has a bad nose’ than ‘Wow, that girl has a bad nose job.’ I’d rather have a comment about who I am than about something that identifies me as being ashamed of who I am.

While it is not uncommon for celebrities to publicly speak against having plastic surgery all the while secretly going under the knife, it appears that Jodie Foster is not lying. Plastic surgeon Anthony Youn confirmed that Jodie Foster has not fibbed about going under the knife, saying “Jodie Foster looks like she is aging naturally, without any major help from a plastic surgeon.”

The actress, who is notorious for being extremely private about her life, made a rare statement about her views. Yet, she cautions that she is not likely to open up again about her life anytime soon.

“My life is my life,” Foster said. “I’m not going to change it for anybody. I don’t have any problems with it. I just don’t talk about my health, my dad, who I voted for or what I think of the death penalty, because that would be trivializing my life, selling it for a magazine.”

Foster’s youthful appearance is likely achieved by a combination of an effective daily skin care regimen, good nutrition, potential peels and laser treatments, not to mention age-defying genes.

Paris Hilton’s Breast Implants Illusion

Posted on August 10th, 2007 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Jet H. Ross

Paris Hilton seems to love keeping her breast implants rumors alive. Paris is back again looking like she added another two cup sizes to her normally-34A-cup breasts. Appearing again at her new favorite post-prison hangout, Malibu Beach for a televised segments on celebrities, the 26-year old heiress wore a one-piece bathing suit that revealed an abundant C-cup bust and considerable cleavage. But only three weeks ago, her breasts were completely deflated (see related story on Paris Hilton’s Breast Augmentation rumors)

Paris Hilton, Breast Implants, Bathing Suit

Paris’s breast size seems to fluctuate more than the Dow Jones these days, with her breasts having a flat, pre-pubescent status one day, and the next day looking like they benefited from a generous plastic surgery. It is quite apparent that breast implants are not in the mix, unless Paris has access to removable breast implants. Now, Paris’s breast phenomenon has every woman on earth wondering how Paris manages to create this beautiful illusion as no push-up bra on the market seems to have this power of squeezing out so much breast out of her A or small B-size breasts. Given that Paris has small breasts, it is possible that she is using adhesive chicken cutlets, or breast enhancing inserts (see breast enhancers store for examples), and breast tape to further enhance her breasts. However, it is unlikely that she would be using tape in the water.

Interestingly, Paris previously considered getting breast implants when she was a teenager and apparently begged her parents to give the green light on the procedure. She was ultimately talked out of doing it altogether.

“Years ago, I asked my dad for a boob job and he said it would cheapen my image,” said Paris about her brief temptation to get breast implants.

While Paris is off the hook on the breast implant rumor, she is no stranger to plastic surgery having already had allegedly two nose jobs to slim the tip of her nose and build up her nose’s bridge. Paris is also said to be planning to have corrective plastic surgery to fix her drooping left eyelid. Paris allegedly went under the knife six years ago to lift her eyelids, but muscles of her left eye were damaged during the procedure and left it “drooping” more than her right eyelid. Now, Paris is planning to fix her eye asymmetry problem.

Dream Buttocks With Plastic Surgery

Posted on August 10th, 2007 in Plastic Surgeon Articles & Interviews by sarahl

Brazilian Butt Augmentation, Lift

Until the last few years, most American women only cared about getting bigger breasts and tucking their tummies. But now, the new trend is to have a balance between breasts, waist, and…buttocks. With a copious butt jumping to the high priority list, buttock augmentation procedures have soared over the last few years. Another eason women have their buttocks augmented is due to excess amount of exercise. According to experts, women who work out hard tend to lose the natural curve and shape of their rears.

When it comes to a buttock augmentation, patients have two main choices. The buttocks can be augmented using implants (gluteoplasty) that are typically made of silicone or through fat grafting which means adding a patient’s own fat to her rear. Similar to inserting implants, fat grafting involves transferring a substance through small incisions. While artificial implants are falling from favor, more patients are considering the fat grafting technique to accentuate their figure and give it an added boost.

Dr. David Matlock, Butt Lift, Vaginoplasty

Make Me Heal turned to Dr. David Matlock and interviewed him about the popular Brazilian Butt Lift that he performs. A regular on the “Dr. 90210″ television show, Dr. Matlock is world renowned for performing vaginoplasties and laser rejuvenations, having pioneered these procedures over a decade ago (see related article on Dr. Matlock’s Vaginoplasty & Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation).

Make Me Heal: Please discuss the different types of buttock augmentation procedures that are available and which of these procedures is the most common?

Dr. Matlock: There are buttock implants and autologous fat transfer (AFT) to the buttocks. The only one I do is the AFT. This procedure is very safe and produces a natural result to inspection and feel. The incision is only 3 mm at the bottom of the buttocks in comparison to the implant which is about 3 to 4 inches in the crease of the buttocks. These artificial implants are hard and unnatural and I don’t recommend it.

Make Me Heal: Your signature is the “Brazilian Butt Lift”. Please describe how it is performed and other technical details.

Dr. Matlock: My signature is the Brazilian Butt Augmentation. The patient can have any anesthesia they want. The fat is harvested from areas of unwanted fatty deposits such as the butt, the stomach, and the thighs. It is processed and then injected into the fatty tissue of the buttocks trough micro fat injections to achieve a long lasting, uniform, smooth, and natural appearance to the buttocks. An additional benefit of the Brazilian butt lift is that you not only get a shapelier buttock, but the area to liposuction is now much leaner, giving your profile a more sensuous look.

Make Me Heal: When the fat grafting procedure is used, how is the shape of the buttock maintained?

Dr. Matlock: I first sculpture out the most aesthetically pleasing buttocks, then I aesthetically place the fat into the fatty tissue of the patient’s buttocks.

Make Me Heal: Why do you prefer using fat grafting for buttock augmentation instead of an implant? What are the advantages of fat grafting?

Dr. Matlock: I prefer and perform fat grafting as it provides a 100% natural look to feel and appearance.

Make Me Heal: Is there a specific age range for a woman seeking a buttock augmentation, or can a woman of any age have it?

Dr. Matlock: There are no age restrictions for this procedure although most patients are between their 20’s to 40’s. Patients must have enough donor fat from 2-3 areas of their body in order to be a candidate. All patients are evaluated based on the quality of their fat, existing volume, skin elasticity and buttock shape. Though some of these qualities change with age, these are really independent of their age, and a healthy person of any age can undergo this procedure.

Make Me Heal: How long do the results of a buttock augmentation via fat grafting last?

Dr. Matlock: We tell patients that what they have a 3 months will be there for life. My administrator had it 5 years ago and it is still there. I usually tell patients that 60% will last. We always overfill to compensate for what can be reabsorbed.

Make Me Heal: How is the recovery like from the various types of buttock augmentation procedures? What symptoms can a patient expect to have and for how long do they persist? Is there any period of time the patient should expect to be resting and not be active or at work?

Dr. Matlock: The artificial implant causes extreme pain. The AFT or Brazilian Butt Lift is no more painful then regular liposuction.

Following the butt augmentation procedure, you must not sit directly on your buttocks for two weeks. Most people can return to work in 2 weeks, provided you do only a minimum amount of sitting. You must wear a special garment (to control swelling) for two weeks. There may be a small amount of swelling for up to 6 weeks. However, you should be able to resume all normal activities at 4 weeks post op.

Make Me Heal: Are there any scars following a buttock augmentation via fat grafting? If yes, then can they be seen to the eye?

Dr. Matlock: The scars are only millimeters in length and usually fade to being miniscule.

Make Me Heal: What are the average costs of performing a buttock augmentation via fat grafting?

Dr. Matlock: For the total procedure it averages between $8, 000 to $10,000 depending on the amount of areas to be suctioned.

Make Me Heal: What recovery products can be used following a buttock augmentation via fat grafting?

Dr. Matlock: Arnica Montana is my favorite for its healing properties.

Make Me Heal: How long does a patient have to avoid having sexual intercourse after a buttock augmentation procedure?

Dr. Matlock: Intercourse can be resumed in 4 days.
