Anna Nicole Smith’s Plastic Surgery Video Surfaces

Posted on August 10th, 2007 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Rachelle Farnsworth

American sex symbol, playmate, and all around vixen of dramatic circumstance Anna Nicole Smtih has made her way back into conversation even after her death less than six months ago. It seems as though controversy and the late Anna Nicole are bound to walk together, even through her passing and the most recent discussion at hand began on Friday when a restraining order was signed by Los Angeles judge Mitchell L. Beckloff that prohibits the distribution of a videotape that captured the pin up’s first breast augmentation surgery on October 17, 1994. The videotape was made by Dr. Gerald Wayne Johson, the plastic surgeon who performed her breast augmentation. A restraining order is coming from Smith’s estate executor, Howard K. Stern. Stern is suing Dr. Johnson for illegally making the tape and then trying to sell it after her death to Thomas Riccio, an L.A. memorabilia broker.

Anna Nicole Smith, Breast Implants

This recorded breast augmentation was one of a few alleged breast implant procedures that Anna Nicole has received during her lifetime, with the first boob job dating to her appearance on Playboy. Anna Nicole allegedly demanded that two implants be placed in each breast. These claims may have some substance, as photos of Anna Nicole give the impression of a very large, and in Anna’s case “two” very large implants, as acknowledged by the seeming pull of the implant up off of her shoulder and chest bones. Anna Nicole’s official measurements are 38″DD - 26″ - 38″.

Throughout the course of Anna Nicole’s career, she has been linked to other cosmetic surgery procedures, including lip augmentation, a breast lift to push up her gargantuan breasts, a facelift, cheek implants, and some botox treatments. Given her crazed lifestyle and excessive weight gain and loss, the toll isn’t apparent on her face probably due to her surgical choices. People have also speculated that Anna Nicole’s dramatic weight loss was not entirely achieved through her Trimspa diet and that she got a bit of help from the knife via tummy tuck and liposuction. In any case, her weight loss was so significant that she was likely left with excessive amount of sagging skin which can only be trimmed and removed through a plastic surgery such as a tummy tuck.

The troubled 39-year old heiress reportedly went in for a final breast surgery just before her death and in doing so, helped other to revisit the idea the she was indeed heavily abusing pain medications, due to her tolerance of their effects (all ten kinds that were tried) during her time under the knife.

As for the case of the illegal taping of Smith’s breast procedures, serious justice is in the need of being served. Stern claims that the video was taped with Smith’s permission. To his defense, Dr. Johnson wrote in a letter that he regularly videotapes surgeries of his patients provided that he has the patient’s permission and that he keeps them confidential during the patient’s lifetime.” Dr. Johnson said that he gave memorabilia dealer Riccio permission to use the Anna Nicole Smith’s video only after her death.

It is a safe assessment that if Nicole was taped without permission, other patients may have been too, and after the final decision is made on September 26th during his trial, Dr. Johnson may be suspended or worse, become unwillingly forced to look for a career change. If he is found guilty, perhaps a fitting choice for Dr. Johnson would be one that does not revolve around the dehumanizing of women during one of their most open and trusted times while believing that they are safely and privately in the hands of someone about to make them more beautiful — not objectified.

What Plastic Surgery Has Ivanka Trump Not Had?

Posted on August 9th, 2007 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Rachelle Farnsworth

Ivanka Trump, the artificial blonde offspring of the notorious Donald and Ivana Trump, is an attractive and smart young woman who works for a living. Being at the limelight, however, she is the unfortunate butt of criticism that her looks have been achieved by the millions of dollars funneled from her father’s bank account towards expensive hairstyles, skincare, makeup, clothes, and a few good plastic surgeries. Some people believe that were she not The Donald’s daughter, she would be mediocre looking. While this is probably a bit too harsh of an analysis, there may be some truth to it.

Most of the focus thus far has been on Ivanka’s breast implants being far too big for her frame. Now, quite a few people are asking Make Me Heal to deconstruct Ivanka’s nose and confirm whether it has also been chiseled by a plastic surgeon’s knife.

Ivanka Trump, Nose Job, Plastic Surgery

Photos of Ivanka’s very teeny tiny nose immediately scream nose job. Interestingly, some speculate that Ivanka has not had one, but two nose jobs with the latter one happening in 2006. Back in 1997-1998, when Ivanka first sprang up on the celebrity radar she had a wider bridge and tip and some photos even show a slight unevenness to her nose. Fast forward a few years and Ivanka’s nose is dramatically narrower than the old nose, the bridge is slimmed down, the tip appears raised, and the nose no longer has any imperfections, as evidenced by a perfectly arched nose bridge in profile shots of her. While some people adore this type of perfect-looking nose, other people have said that Ivanka’s nose is far too small for her facial proportions.

Along with the possibility of Ivanka Trump having a second nose job is also the chance that she opted for a chin augmentation to make her chin more pronounced. In many scenarios these two procedures can go hand in hand, simply because a weak chin can make a normal nose appear larger, and a too prominent chin may give the appearance of having too small of a nose and throwing the face off balance. The “balance” concept is what has raised a little noise in the gossip world because the extreme that Ivanka has gone in reducing her nose’s size appears to some to be slightly off in relation to the rest of her face.

Ivanka Trump, Breast Implants, AugmentationWith an Ivy league diploma from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (her father’s Alma Mater) and now a title as vice president of Real Estate Development & Acquisitions in her father’s Trump Organization, Ivanka is a smart, working lady and a far cry from other socialites who spend their days and nights on the social circuit. Yet, Ivanka still struggles with ridding herself of constant comparisons to other blonde bombshell heiresses and socialites such as Paris Hilton. Many went as far as to joke that when Ivanka got her breasts augmented late last year from a AA-cup to the large C or D cups that she sports today, this was done in part to differentiate herself from Paris and find a way to “stick out” on her own.

Ivanka, on the other hand, has made many comments that would disprove this notion of being part of the rich girl brat pack.

Just being lumped into that heiress category is somewhat annoying. I work my (butt) off. Ivanka is not one for the limelight, saying “I am a much more private [person than my father]. I never loved the spotlight all that much. Except for my brief perhaps a mistake modeling stint to break up the monotony of my boarding-school existence.”

Whether or not Ivanka chooses to do every form of plastic surgery available, she will still be the daughter of one of the most talked about men on earth, and a strong woman in her own sense. Were she not a brainy and self-empowered girl, Ivanka would not have been invited to become a host of “The View”, however distasteful the show may be to some people’s palettes. Regardless of what snips, nips, implants, and tucks here or there that she has, Ivanka is a rare breed of a famous parents’ kid who comes with no accidentally-found sex tape and whose mature, strong, intelligent personality has appeal and makes for a respectable role model to follow. Now, we can’t say that for the Lindsay Lohans, Paris Hiltons, Kim Kardashians, and Nicole Richies of the world.

Has Jennifer Lopez Gotten Plastic Surgery?

Posted on August 8th, 2007 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Lisa Stern

The latest hot plastic surgery rumor has people wondering if Jennifer Lopez has gone around the block to get breast implants. Appearing last week in a long, flowing white gown at the Los Angeles premiere of her film El Cantante” with her hubby and co-star Marc Anthony, J.Lo’s breasts appeared to have grown by at least one to two cup sizes since a few years ago.

Jennifer Lopez, Breast Implants, Augmentation

The 38 year old singer and actress has always had a curvaceous body and perky breasts, although J.Lo’s famous large bottom has always grabbed all the attention. But that was until last week, when everyone’s eyes set upon J.Lo’s breasts. The change in J. Lo’s breast size is remarkable and could imply that she got a breast augmentation in the recent past. If this is the case, then the results are aesthetically attractive and her new assets balance out J. Lo’s voluptuous lower body.

On the other hand, it is quite possible that J.Lo is only wearing some miracle bra that is working hard to push up her boobs. Push-up bras can create the illusion of breast augmentation and have been linked to false celebrity plastic surgery rumors, as is the case with Paris Hilton who has been mistakenly accused of having breast implants (read the full story on Paris Hilton’s Breast Implants rumor).

Jennifer Lopez, Nose Job, Rhinoplasty

Digging into Jennifer Lopez’s past, it is rumored that she has gotten a nose job and some have also speculated that she got cheek implants and a lip reduction. J. Lo is a confirmed wearer of fake eyelashes.

When asked about plastic surgery, Jennifer Lopez previously said: “If people want to get enhancements here and there and little shots or whatever… I don’t do it, but I don’t want to judge because I don’t know how I’ll feel when I’m 40 or 50 and if that is something I would do. I know that getting older is tough; I don’t want to judge because I’m not there yet.”

Whatever the case may be with J. Lo’s breasts being real or enhanced, J. Lo is looking fabulous and can now add her breasts to the list of assets that power her career.

Posted on August 7th, 2007 in Personal Interviews by Makemeheal.com Staff

Sherri Campbell (member name: sweetslover) is 36 years old and after years of deliberation she decided to have plastic surgery in January of this year. Make Me Heal has followed Sherri through her exciting cosmetic makeover journey that involved a full tummy tuck with tumescent liposuction on the flanks. Today, Sherri feels transformed both emotionally and physically.

See Sherri’s Before & After Plastic Surgery Pictures Album.

For the last 10 years, Sherri from Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania has been thinking about having plastic surgery. She has long known that going under the knife was the right move, but the final step took a few years to make. As we caught up with Sherri in this intimate interview, she revealed that meeting people through the Make Me Heal community, participating in the Plastic Surgery Message Boards and seeing before and after pictures of real patients in the Plastic Surgery Pictures helped her tremendously in confirming that her decision would be good.

Sherri found her plastic surgeon, Dr. Dennis Monteiro, on the internet and knew that he was the right doctor from the very first consultation. Today, with her physical transformation shrinking her down from a size 12 waist to a 9 and a new sexy figure, Sherri is thrilled everytime she puts on her clothes and looks in the mirror and truly feels as a new person looking ahead only for more happy times. Her husband and family who supported her in this long process can actually feel the new positive vibes that are with Sherri at all time.

“Do it! There are people out there who had some negative experiences but you can’t let that scare you. They are the exception. The results are worth every penny,” says Sherri.

Dr. Dennis Monteiro from Valley Forge, PA performed Sherri’s tummy tuck and liposuction.

Make Me Heal: When did you first have the idea to have your procedure?

Sherri: Years Ago.

Make Me Heal: What were your motivations behind your decision to have the procedure?

Sherri: Emotional and social.

Make Me Heal: How long did it take you to make a decision and was it an easy or difficult one to make?

Sherri: It took several years but was easy to make.

Make Me Heal: Did your family, friends, and any other people in your close circle give you support, opposition, or did you make this decision without considering them?

Sherri: Most were very supportive but concerned.

Make Me Heal: How did you research the procedure and come to decide on this particular procedure?

Sherri: Discussion with other patients and a lot of internet research.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss if you used any of Make Me Heal’s resources.

Sherri: I used the Make Me Heal Plastic Surgery Message Board, the plastic surgery picture library, and recovery products.

Make Me Heal: How did you come to choose your doctor?

Sherri: I found him on the internet and after only 1 consult, I knew he was the one.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss if you have any role in deciding the type of technique used for your surgery by the doctor?

Sherri: No, I left it all up to him.

Make Me Heal: How did you prepare for the surgery?

Sherri: I stored pre-made meals and froze them + I got a large bottle of water. I bought comfy pajamas and tops. And also I got wireless for my laptop.

Make Me Heal: How were you feeling the night before the surgery and on the moments before the surgery itself?

Sherri: Never scared, just excited. I have never been afraid of surgery before so this was a piece of cake for me!

Make Me Heal: How was the recovery process?

Sherri: My husband did all of the chores and took care of my two young children. My mother stayed for the first 2 nights and helped change my dressings and cook me meals etc. I was in a lot of pain the first 2 days but that was to be expected. I actually enjoyed lying around and being waited on. It doesn’t happen everyday!

Make Me Heal: Please discuss the pain or discomfort you experienced during the recovery?

Sherri: The drain was a bummer and burned. That was the biggest negative of the entire process.

Make Me Heal: How well prepared were you for the recovery from physical, emotional, and mental respects?

Sherri: I spent 6 months on the internet researching and preparing for my surgeries.

Make Me Heal: What are your top recovery tips to other patients?

Sherri: Follow the Doc’s orders…and relax! Take advantage of the time you have by relaxing and allowing your body to heal. Let your family take your burden off of you.

Make Me Heal: How long did you take off from work? What did you tell your co-workers about taking this time off? Did anyone notice your cosmetic procedures at work and what did you tell them if they asked about it?

Sherri: I took 17 days off. I said I was having a “female procedure” done. No one noticed but I eventually told them and they were very impressed.

Make Me Heal: How happy are you with the results?

Sherri: I am 85% happy. I would have liked to be a little bit flatter but I had a c-section 3 years ago so the scar tissue created a hump that will probably always be there.

Other than that, I am totally thrilled every time I put on my clothes and look in the mirror.

Make Me Heal: How has your makeover impacted your life from personal, social, career, and other respects?

Sherri: Socially I feel more attractive which makes me more out-going.

Make Me Heal: Would you have done anything differently if you had the chance?

Sherri: Definitely No!

Make Me Heal: What is your final word of advice to other people considering the procedure you had?

Sherri: Do it! There are people out there who had some negative experiences but you can’t let that scare you. They are the exception. The results are worth every penny.

Make Me Heal: Was Make Me Heal beneficial to you along your journey?

Sherri: Definitely. It still is.

Merci’s Breast Augmentation Journey to Happiness

Posted on August 3rd, 2007 in Personal Interviews by Makemeheal.com Staff

When Merci turned 40 last year and found Make Me Heal’s website, it was her wake up call to finalize her plastic surgery dreams. With the help of the Plastic Surgery Message Boards, going under the knife felt like the easiest decision she’s ever taken in her whole life.

breast augmentation, tummy tuck

See Merci’s Before & After Plastic Surgery Pictures Album.

Living in Miami, Florida, Merci (member name: mercime) has had AA size breasts most of her adult life and dreamed about having bigger breasts for almost as long. On August 2006, Merci underwent a breast augmentation and fully tummy tuck with Dr. Ary Krau from Coral Gables, Florida. At the time, silicone implants were not approved, which led to Merci choosing 2 salines implants filled at 420cc. The result was immediate with Merci enjoying her new sexy 34C breasts and a 6 dress size — which is 3 sizes less than she was before the procedure.

But, after a few days Merci felt like her implants were falling off her chest and noticed two pockets that appeared at the base of her breasts. This condition, also known as capsulorraphy can be corrected with a revision surgery. In addition to this problem, Merci also needed to correct her tummy tuck scar irregularity, commonly called “Dog Ears”. The revision surgeries took place in September 2006 and though her tummy tuck scar is a bad dream left behind her, Merci still has a few issues with her breast augmentation. She experiences severe distortion with flexing and some double bubble that has to be revisited.

Despite these few problems, Merci refers to her plastic surgery journey as the “most liberating event of my lifetime” and is looking forward to re-doing her breasts in silicone over the next year.

Merci’s advice to her family and all those who would consider plastic surgery is: Do what makes YOU happy. Never do things to make anyone one else happy. After all it is YOU that has to live with yourself in the end.

Make Me Heal: When did you first have the idea to have your procedure?

Merci: I wanted to have my BA since my teens, but always wanted to wait until after I was done having children. After having had both my kids, I decided it was time.

Make Me Heal: What were your motivations behind your decision to have the procedure?

Merci: Turning 40! I thought it was all downhill from there. Instead it has been the most liberating event of my lifetime. I finally know who I am. Having the surgeries just tied it all in.

Make Me Heal: How long did it take you to make a decision and was it an easy or difficult one to make?

Merci: It was the easiest decision in the world to make. I’d been thinking about it for so long that it only seemed logical.

Make Me Heal: Did your family, friends, and any other people in your close circle give you support, opposition, or did you make this decision without considering them?

Merci: My family always knew of my yearning for bigger breasts, when I told them of my decision they were all elated. When I told them I was going to go ahead and get a Tummy Tuck with it, they just looked at it as an added plus!

Make Me Heal: How did you research the procedure and come to decide on this particular procedure?

Merci: I came online mostly. Make Me Heal’s website was a Godsend! The women here and the information on this website was crucial. What wasn’t directly ON this website there were links outside that I could research. I found the information unbiased. I also went on 3 separate Plastic Surgery consults and went with the Doctor that I felt most comfortable with and that best met my needs.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss if you used any of Make Me Heal’s resources.

Merci: I used everything on this board, the wealth of information was invaluable.

Make Me Heal: How did you come to choose your doctor?

Merci: I went on 3 separate PS interviews. Based on how they answered my questions, how their facilities met my needs and how comfortable I felt with the PS I chose the PS that did my surgery.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss if you have any role in deciding the type of technique used for your surgery by the doctor?

Merci: My PS and I discussed at length, what the best incision placements would be for me, based on my body size etc., especially my Tummy Tuck. I didn’t have a whole lot to take off. I almost wound up with an Anchor Lift. But he was able to do the procedure without it. However, we did discuss all the possibilities before hand. The anesthesia was mostly discussed with the anesthesiologist which was kind and patient, I am a very difficult patient to start an IV on and he was never rushed or in a bad mood. My implant size was mostly discussed with their coordinator, who took extensive time to help me find the exact look i was looking for.

Make Me Heal: How did you prepare for the surgery?

Merci: After “lurking” on MMH for a while I was able to get the gist of what all I needed to prepare for my journey. I just about drove my family insane. I talked about my surgery incessantly!.. Thank God the board was here. Who else would understand the excitement I was going through? My family was about to duct tape my mouth shut if I mentioned my surgery one more time during dinner time! I was just about to start a new job as well. I had 2 weeks to recuperate before starting. I filled the house with bottles of water, pillows, protein drinks, bought a shower chair, bought comfortable tops and bottoms that I can hang out on the couch in all day AND night!. I made arrangements for my mom to stay with me for the first 5 days. Lucky me! My mom is an ICU nurse and my hubby is a Pediatrician. What more can a girl ask for right?

Make Me Heal: How were you feeling the night before the surgery and on the moments before the surgery itself?

Merci: My nickname in my family is “Zipper Girl”.. God should have made me with a zipper!.. I have had to have so many surgeries in the last 7 years it’s not even funny! If it wasn’t my Gallbladder, it was my Appendix, or a Hysterectomy or Carpal Tunnel or Exploratory Laparotomy! So they couldn’t understand my trepidation about having surgery this time. I was like:” Hello! This time it’s ELECTIVE!” I’m doing this to myself!”. It’s different when you HAVE to have surgery but when you are choosing to have it, it’s a whole different game. I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off the night before. Thankfully my hubby was VERY patient with me and just watched me pace the entire house a million times while I fixed the pillows on what would me my “home” for the first week or so on the couch a million times. Before we went to bed he took all HIS pillows and made a place for himself right next to mine on the couch. I asked him what he was doing and he said he wouldn’t think of letting me go through any of this alone. That just about did it for me. The dam broke and I started to bawl. The reality of it all sunk in. Needless to say I had quite a night of interrupted sleep. When i got to the surgery center I was actually quite calm though. Go figure. Then the poking for the IV started. I wanted to be a brave girl. But about after the 14th stick, hubby had even tried and no IV in site. I was wheeled into the surgical suite for them to start a jugular line. Now THAT was nerve wracking. All the while, tears streaming down my face, the anesthesiologist and the OR team sweet as can be telling everything was going to be okay. And it was.

Make Me Heal: How was the recovery process?

Merci: When i left the surgery center i remember them saying: “see you tomorrow”.. and i was like.. “what? are you kidding me? surely, they gave me the drugs and THEY got the effects!”.. I don’t remember much of the ride home, but i do remember getting out of the car and walking what seemed miles down the corridor to the elevator and then down the corridor to my doorway again. My sweet mom wanted to wheel me an office chair insisting I should walk. But I wanted to walk. My first night wasn’t too bad. I took my meds on the hour. I ate even if I didn’t want to. I did exactly as i was told. Then day two rolled around. And it was everything i had heard and read. The pain was excruciating. Mostly from the Tummy Tuck. My chest just felt like it was so tight I couldn’t breathe. My hubby had to work, so my mom stayed with me. My mom and aunt drove me to my post op appointment. I remember making sure to take my pain meds just before leaving the house so i could make the trip there and back. It was slow going but i made it. The sweetest words i heard at the PS’s office were: “you could take a shower if you like today”.. For me, the most relaxing thing was to sit in my shower chair and take a warm shower. Note to self though. Never let hubby wash hair again. Bless his heart. He loves my long hair, but has no clue how to handle it and just tugged and tangled it more than it was already. So much so he actually offered to have someone come to the house and cut it if i wanted. Something he would never say cause’ he hates short hair.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss the pain or discomfort you experienced during the recovery?

Merci: Day 3 was the worst pain day. Adding a spiked temperature and spike in blood pressure. Which my mom quickly noted the elevated blood pressure was probably from drinking so much gatorade. We stopped it, went to just water and it normalized within a few hours. Most of the pain and discomfort came from the inability to get comfortable. Being an active person also took it’s toll on me. I couldn’t keep still. Just as i was comfortable in one position, i was anxious to move into another.

Make Me Heal: How well prepared were you for the recovery from physical, emotional, and mental respects?

Merci: Thanks to all the wonderful women on this board and their shared experiences, I was able to know what to expect. Knowing is MORE than half the battle for me. If I know what to expect, then I know how to deal with it. I don’t think I could have done this without this board.

Make Me Heal: What are your top recovery tips to other patients?

Merci: INFORMATION! Arm yourself with information. It is amazing what the power of knowledge can bring you!

Make Me Heal: How long did you take off from work? What did you tell your co-workers about taking this time off? Did anyone notice your cosmetic procedures at work and what did you tell them if they asked about it?

Merci: I had 2 weeks before I started a new job. I told my new employers of the surgeries prior to my starting the job just in case I had any complications.

Make Me Heal: How happy are you with the results?

Merci: I still have issues with my BA. I have severe distortion with flexing and some double bubble that has to be revisited. I am looking forward to re-doing them in silicone over the next year.

Make Me Heal: How has your makeover impacted your life from personal, social, career, and other respects?

Merci: I am way more confident! I love the way my clothes look on me now! I don’t hate shopping anymore. I am not so self conscious and I am not constantly comparing myself to others.

Make Me Heal: Would you have done anything differently if you had the chance?

Merci: I would have started out with silicone, but they were not approved yet at the time that I had them done.

Make Me Heal: What is your final word of advice to other people considering the procedure you had?

Merci: Do what makes YOU happy. Never do things to make anyone one else happy. After all it is YOU that has to live with yourself in the end.

Make Me Heal: Was Make Me Heal beneficial to you along your journey?

Merci: MMH has held my hand, it has given me advice, it has listened to me laugh, it has been there when I’ve cried, it has let me be silly and given me a shoulder to lean on. It has been my “family” through this journey.

See Merci’s Before & After Plastic Surgery Pictures Album.

Here is the latest and greatest news bits from the weird, fun, strange and tragic world of plastic surgery gathered from July and August.

Man Gets Plastic Surgery To Become A Catman

Joceyln “Catwoman” Wildenstein may find her soulmate in a young American who, like her had mutliple plastic surgeries to become a veritable Catman. Mother Dies From Heart Attack 48 Hours After Plastic Surgery

Just two days after having liposuction on her thighs, mother-of-two Pauline Bainbridge suffered a massive heart attack and died. So far investigators do not have a cause for the death, as the hospital that administered the procedure was reputed and Mrs. Bainbridge was in great physical health. Her husband said “We’re not blaming anyone. We don’t know why she died. It’s a terrible tragedy. But it could have been a complication from the operation. The doctors said it could have been a blood clot or an aneurism. We’ll have to wait and see what the coroner says.” Our hearts go out to the grieving family. (Source: Daily Mail)

Cookies That Make Your Boobs Grow

Breast Augmentation, Implants, CookiesIf you’re looking for an alternative to breast implants, there is a new option on the horizon. If you eat two F-Cup cookies per day, your breasts will supposedly grow bigger to an F-cup. Each cookie contains 50mg of a “miracle” breast enhacing herb called Pueraria Mirifica. The manufactuer doesn’t know how many cookies you’ll have to eat until you see results, but assures consumers that the cookies will expand your breasts. (Source: Dollymix)

Three Liposuction Deaths At Arizona Clinic

Authorities have opened a criminal investigation on the Normann Medical Group, where three patients died following liposuction. This unfortunate case highlights the need to research the doctor and their office credentials, as Dr. Peter Normann, Dr. Gary Page (a homeopathic doctor) and his staff members were illegally administering anesthesia without having a formal license or any training. (Source: Fox)

Breast Implant Remains May Lead to Finding Murder Victim

A breast implant found with human remains in a Franklin County swamp earlier this month may be connected with the suspicious disappearance of a Lilburn woman. Leslie Adams, 40, of Gwinnett County was reported missing on October 25, 2005. Blood and a shell casing were found at the foot of her bed in her apartment. Adams, a hairstylist and mother of two, had a temporary protective order against her ex-boyfriend, whose phone records showed that he had placed several calls to her on the day she was reported missing. Cheek Toner, AugmentationJapan has come up with yet another useless invention, an egg-themed torture device that is supposed to firm up the cheeks by rolling plastic patches designed to look like plastic sunny-side-up eggs over the face. The manufacturers claim that the Cheek toner also helps achieve rosier cheeks. (source: Plasticized)

Suicide Rate Higher Among Women With Breast Implants

Across the six studies, the suicide rate of women who received cosmetic breast implants is approximately twice the expected rate based on estimates of the general population. The first study of this issue suggested that the rate of suicide among women with breast implants was greater than that of women who underwent other forms of cosmetic surgery. Women interested in breast augmentation who present with a history of psychopathology or those who are suspected by the plastic surgeon of having some form of psychopathology should undergo a mental health consultation before surgery. Jessica Simpson Back on Lip Injections?

Posted on August 2nd, 2007 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Rachelle Farnsworth

Plastic Surgery Rumor Du Jour

Jessica Simpson was spotted outside of Barney’s New York in the last two weeks (see picture) with quite a full and puffy lip, prompting new plastic surgery rumors that the back-to-blonde singer has dabbled again in lip injections.

Jessica Simpson, Lip Injections, Plastic SurgeryIn the past, Jessica has tried Restylane to plump her lips and was not satisfied with the result. With Restylane out of favor, it is possible that Jessica has now tried another temporary injection filler such as Juvederm or collagen for her famous lips. Lip injections are performed in a very short amount of time, and under local anesthesia or sedation. Being that lip injections are typically done within less than an hour, it is possible that Jessica had the cosmetic treatment done right before she went on her shopping run. This would explain the excessive puffiness and appearance of swelling seen in the above picture.

Plastic surgeon John Di Saia speculates in his blog that Jessica Simpson had her lips augmented. “Either she [Jessica Simpson] had too much filler or too local anesthesia (for my tastes anyway). I like less filler.”

Jessica previously admitted to having Restylane back in October 2006, saying I had that Restylane stuff. It looked fake to me. I didn’t like that. But…it went away in, like, four months. My lips are back to what they were. Thank God!

If lip injections are indeed in the mix, it is unlikely that Simpson has gotten semi-permanent fillers such as Gore-Tex or Silicone, for the results cannot be undone without corrective surgery. Given her bad prior experience, it would not be reasonable for Simpson to opt for these choices. Additionally, semi-permanent fillers have the downside of sometimes causing lumpiness in the lip, that although not visible to the eye, can be felt by the wearer.

To Jessica Simpson’s defense, there is a small chance that her lips are natural and that she is making clever use of a lip gloss, lip liner, or using natural lip plumpers which are typically made of a spicy, tingly gloss that naturally enhances the color and shape of the lips by increasing circulation (read more about lip plumpers).

Keep in mind this isn’t the first time Jessica has hit our plastic surgery radar. Simpson is rumored to have gotten breast implants before the start of her career to achieve her gigantic bust, and a nose job to narrow her previously wider nose, and has admitted to having Restylane lip injections. So it may not be too far off to say lip injections are the source of her fuller lips.

Additionally, Jessica has spoken openly for having plastic surgery in the future, saying that she is interested in having a breast lift.

“Maybe after having kids, if my boobs dropped down to my belly button, I would get them lifted. … Maintenance, says Jessica.

We’ll just have to keep a watch on Jessica’s breasts and see if there is any upward migration in the near future.

Diane’s Incredible Plastic Surgery Makeover

See Diane’s Before & After Plastic Surgery Pictures Album.

Diane’s story starts in 2004 after her struggle to lose 70 pounds. In August 2005, to compensate for the loss of her breast tissue volume following her weight loss, Diane went under the knife of Dr. Mauricio Castellon for a breast lift and breast augmentation that included two 400cc smooth and round silicone implants. The result is well executed and left diane with sexy 36D twins.

Following her breast procedures, Diane returned to Dr. Mauricio in February 2006, who then performed a full tummy tuck with muscle repair on her along with liposuction of the flanks. Within a few weeks, Diane dropped about 4-5 dress sizes and now wears a size 4.

For her facial makeover, Diane got Restylane (a cosmetic filling agent made of Hyaluronic acid, which is a natural component of the skin) to soften facial wrinkles and folds that appeared around her nose and lips following her weight loss. Then, in 2007 Diane added some photofacial treatments with Dr. Sergio Zamora to improve the appearance of her skin as well as reduce some redness she was experiencing. Additionally, she had Juvederm and Botox treatments on her forehead and around her eyes to complete her makeover.

For the finishing touches on her makeover, Diane underwent Vaser and Smart Liposuction in May with Dr. Fred Powell to trim her body contours, which resulted in the removal of 750cc from her lower abs, flanks, upper and mid back.

At 44, Diane has a lot to be excited about. Her makeover has enhanced her beauty and opened up some new opportunities.

“From a scale of 1-10…I’m 150 on the happiness scale,” says Diane to Make Me Heal’s.

As a plastic surgery expert, Diane recommends that anyone who considers cosmetic surgery should research it well and see as many plastic surgery pictures as possible to get an accurate idea of the results you can expect. Diane’s message for those ready to take the step is:

“Understand it’s a life changing event so be prepared for the attention and go for it!!

Make Me Heal: When did you first have the idea to have your procedure?

Diane: In 2004 before I lost the weight I was looking into doing a tummy tuck. After a lot of thought and searching online and doctor consultations I decided the best route was to lose weight first.

Make Me Heal: What were your motivations behind your decision to have the procedure?

Diane: Losing 70 pounds, my skin was very loose. I did it mostly for emotional reasons. I was proud of the weight loss and had always wanted plastic surgery so I went for it. It was very exciting!!

Make Me Heal: How long did it take you to make a decision and was it an easy or difficult one to make?

Diane: I finished losing weight in June of 2005. My first surgery was Aug 2005. I had no hesitation with going ahead with the surgery. I was ready to be noticed and to be able to look at myself in a positive light

Make Me Heal: Did your family, friends, and any other people in your close circle give you support, opposition, or did you make this decision without considering them?

Diane: My husband was 100% supportive. Some of my friends couldn’t understand why I wanted to do it, some were supportive…

Make Me Heal: How did you research the procedure and come to decide on this particular procedure?

Diane: I went for consultations with local doctors to get an idea of how to proceed. I went to 3 local doctors who all had differing opinions. I decided on a doctor who was recommended to me by another surgeon and he worked with a lot of people with weight loss and loose skin issues. He also had a great bedside manner and instantly knew he would be my doctor. For weeks and weeks beforehand I would look up before and after photos trying to find my body type to see what I might look like afterwards. I probably looked at thousands of breast lift/aug pics. I found the shape I wanted and brought that to the doctor. Then I had to decide on silicone or saline. My doctor described it as Do you want a Ford or a Mercedes, making the comparison in saline and silicone. I chose silicone.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss if you used any of Make Me Heal’s resources.

Diane: I used Make me Heal many times over for weeks and weeks among other message boards. Make me Heal is definitely the most user friendly and extensive website about plastic surgery.

Make Me Heal: How did you come to choose your doctor?

Diane: I had 4 consultations with my local doctors and didn’t feel comfortable with any of them. The doctor I chose was recommended to my by a laprascopic surgeon. I’ve used 3 different doctors. He did my first 2 surgeries.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss if you have any role in deciding the type of technique used for your surgery by the doctor?

Diane: The only input I had was deciding on saline or silicone, cc size and if I wanted to stay overnight at the hospital, which I did.

Make Me Heal: How did you prepare for the surgery?

Diane: I read and read and used message boards every day. My doctor only recommended cocoa butter. I took 3 weeks off work but after about 1 1/2 weeks I was in the mall trying on clothes. I noticed I heal very quickly and didn’t need too much pain medicine besides Advil or Tylenol. With the bl/ba I had a brachioplasty also.

Make Me Heal: How were you feeling the night before the surgery and on the moments before the surgery itself?

Diane: I wasn’t afraid of the actual surgery or pain, I was more afraid of change, how I would handle changing my body so drastically. It was exciting at the same time. The day of surgery I think I was just numb, non emotional. I guess it was my way of fighting any fear

Make Me Heal: How was the recovery process?

Diane: The absolute worst part of recovery was the nausea after general anesthesia. I stayed at the hospital so I didn’t have to get up at all. My tummy tuck was outpatient. I have a problem getting up after general anesthesia so it took me hours. My surgery was 2 hrs from home so we stayed at a local hotel. That was pretty traumatic. My husband was with me every step of the way. The ba/bl and arm lift recovery for me was a breeze. With the tummy tuck it was pretty painful. I took lots of laxatives because you don’t want to have a problem because you absolutely cannot push, sneeze, cough without tremendous pain. I didn’t like the Loritab so I switched to tylenol. Getting out of bed is very difficult so I slept a lot in a recliner. Also from all the sitting and laying, my back was in knots so I used a heating pad and a back massager with helps very well. After about a week I was up and around fine, just bent over.

Make Me Heal: How well prepared were you for the recovery from physical, emotional, and mental respects?

Diane: I used message boards for weeks and weeks and online searching obsessively. Emotionally I couldn’t stop looking at myself, it was hard to realize it was still me.

Make Me Heal: What are your top recovery tips to other patients?

Diane: Take it easy, do everything the doctor tells you to, don’t be a martyr, take meds if you need them.

Make Me Heal: How long did you take off from work?

Diane: I had told my co-workers about both surgeries before hand. I didn’t want to be the subject of gossip. A lot of people asked about it. I took 3 weeks off for both surgeries.

Make Me Heal: How happy are you with the results?

Diane: From a scale of 1-10 I’m 150 on the happiness scale

Make Me Heal: How has your makeover impacted your life from personal, social, career, and other respects?

Diane: I’ve lost friends, gained friends. People gravitate towards me now, I don’t feel invisible. Everyone who knew me before say I’m a totally different person inside and out. I exude confidence. I’m definitely more socially acceptable and think about moving up in my career or maybe going to school. I’ve become a raging shopoholic and love to wear beautiful clothes that get me noticed. I get a lot more attention than ever in my life.

Make Me Heal: Would you have done anything differently if you had the chance?

Diane: Maybe a hair bigger on the implants

Make Me Heal: What is your final word of advice to other people considering the procedures you had?

Diane: Before you proceed read everything you can, use the message boards, makemeheal’s website, go to many consultations… and understand its a life changing event so be prepared for the attention. Go for it!!

Make Me Heal: Was Make Me Heal beneficial to you along your journey?

Diane: 100%. Make Me Heal’s message boards and information were the best of all the other websites.
