Daryl Hannah’s Face Confirms Plastic Surgery

Posted on April 30th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Sam Stets

A few years back, Make Me Heal suspected that former mermaid Daryl Hannah had been under the knife. Now, recent post-op photos of the leggy blonde actress seem to have confirmed our worst plastic surgery suspicions, as Daryl looks to have gone overboard.

Just after turning 44, Make Me Heal noted changes in Daryl Hannah’s appearance that seemed to point to plastic surgery, as her wrinkles seemed to disappear. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Daryl Hannah’s plastic surgery). Now that the actress has turned 48, new pictures of a very bloated or post-op looking Daryl Hannah have surfaced, indicating that the actress has spent too much time at the plastic surgeon’s office devouring all kinds of fillers that have distorted the shape of her face.  Daryl’s eyes also appear to have been done by an eye lift.

Daryl Hannah, Plastic Surgery

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “As I told Access Hollywood, Daryl Hannah has had extensive fat grafting, especially to the cheeks and lower eyes. She’s had her eyes done, as well as a chin implant and Botox injections. Her lips have been injected with either fat or a filler or silicone. All together, the results are very unnatural.”

Although not a facial plastic surgery expert, Dr. John Di Saia notes, “Daryl Hannah looks freshly post-op or had a ton of facial fillers.”

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer tells Make Me Heal, “Daryl Hannah’s looks quite swollen in her latest pictures. She either had some plastic surgery procedures or she had some bad allergic reaction to something. In any case, time will tell. We can all be the judge when the swelling resolves.”

Dr. Jennifer Walden says, Darryl Hannah has the appearance of having undergone to many injectable procedures. Her cheeks and lips look as if soft-tissue fillers have been injected to over-plump them, and her forehead and area around the eyes look like they’ve been Botoxed.

Dr. Sherrell J. Aston says, Daryl Hannah has been in the spotlight for a long time and has always seemed ageless. She has said in the past that she would not undergo the knife for her appearance. Some recent photographs show a very swollen face either from surgery or injections or both. My best guess from the photos is that she has been extremely over injected; a problem we are seeing all too frequently. Her lips are a bit lopsided and over inflated. Hopefully she has been given material that is not permanent. I have always thought she was beautiful. Time may right the wrong.

Make Me Heal enjoys Daryl’s films and hopes her new appearance isn’t too distracting in some of her upcoming roles.

Has Miss USA Kristen Dalton & Carrie Prejean Gotten Plastic Surgery?

Posted on April 29th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Dana Jackson

At the recent Miss USA pageant, two contestants stood out the most: the winner, Miss USA Kristen Dalton and runner-up Miss California Carrie Prejean. As plastic surgery often reigns supreme at pageant events, Make Me Heal decided to investigate what’s underneath the pretty faces of these beauty queens.

It’s easy to see why 22-year old Kristen Dalton of North Carolina won the pageant, with her all-American appeal. But are good looks due to good genes or a good doctor?

Make Me Heal believes the newly crowned Miss USA is natural from the neck up, but Kristen Dalton may have gotten a breast augmentation as her breasts appear unnaturally round like implants in some photos. However, as our photos are from the official Miss USA site, the perfect size and shape of her breasts could also be attributed to airbrushing or a great bra.

Kristen Dalton, Plastic Surgery, Miss USA

Plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn reveals, :Miss USA’s face looks really natural to me. The most common facial surgery among many pageant contestants is a rhinoplasty, but her nose looks pretty unoperated on. Does she have breast implants? Tough call, but the photo in the first gallery suggests this.

Other experts agree that Kristen may have had a breast augmentation, but that her face remains untouched by needle or knife at this point.

Dr. Jennifer Walden tells Make Me Heal, “It looks as though Miss USA has had breast augmentation considering you can see the outline of the implant and their perfectly round shape. This is apparent in multiple swimsuit photos. After looking through various headshots, it’s my opinion that she has not had any work done on her nose or lips as they appear very natural.”

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “Kristen looks great. It really is impossible to tell if she has had plastic surgery. There a few pictures her breasts look enhanced, but this could also be a great bra. In any case, there is no question why she was crowned Miss USA.”

Plastic surgeon Dr. Sherrell J. Aston says, “Miss USA Kristen Dalton, winner of Miss USA is undeniably a beautiful woman. However, I suspect that her looks might not be 100% natural. I think she has had breast augmentation but I don’t think she has had any facial surgery. She is young and beautiful and should not do any more procedures for the time being.”

Carrie Prejean, Plastic Surgery

Although she didn’t win, runner up, Miss California Carrie Prejean has had her time in the spotlight recently as well. As yet another beauty in the pageant, the 21-year caught the media’s attention when she gave a rather controversial response to a question about her feelings on gay marriage. Carrie is also rumored to be dating Olympian Michael Phelps, adding to her 15 minutes of fame. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Michael Phelp’s plastic surgery).

It’s a commonly held belief that no one can be as stunning as Carrie without a little knife work, but it seems that Miss California earned her title all on her own, although she may have gotten some cosmetic dental surgery as her teeth are almost too perfectly bright and white.

Dr. Walden says, “It is hard to tell if Miss California has had breast implants. In the first photo she looks fairly flat compared to her swimsuit photo on the Miss USA website. This may be a result of a padded swimsuit or possibly small implants. One thing I did notice in the media frenzy that surrounded her is that she seems to have very bright white dental veneers that are a bit oversized and cause some lip strain when she talks.”

Dr. Shafer says, “Carrie looks beautiful. From the pictures it does not appear that she has had surgery. She is a natural beauty.”

Dr. Aston says, “The controversial Carrie Prejean from California does not appear to have had plastic surgery. She looks very natural to me, and has great proportions.

Some photos suggest breast augmentation but others look natural. Carrie’s personal beliefs might have gotten in the way of her winning the crown. I’m sure that she will be able to move forward with her career nevertheless.”

Facial plastic surgery expert Dr. Paul S. Nassif sums up the stars of the recent beauty pageant saying, both young women have had, “No plastic surgery. Pure.”

Pageant contestants have a way of having scandals arise after accepting their crowns, leading Make Me Heal to wonder if the seemingly perfect young ladies still have plastic surgery skeletons in their closet that have yet to be revealed by less-than-flattering photos soon to appear.

Hannah Montana: The Movie Stars Plastic Surgery

Posted on April 24th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Ruby Marr

When Hannah Montana: The Movie hit the big screens, critics were amazed; it’s not as bad as they expected. But we were more interested in the celebrities’ plastic surgery than the plot holes.

With a core cast that is straight from the hit TV series of the same name, many of the young stars are without plastic surgery (although some of them might want to consider going under the knife in the future). But many of the veteran actors and personalities that appear in the film have a nip or tuck in their past.

Miley Cyrus, Hannah Montana

The star of the film, Miley Cyrus is only 16, but has already been the subject of many a plastic surgery rumor, after getting dental veneers last year. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Miley Cyrus’ plastic surgery). The rumors have thus far proved to be false, as Miley is as natural as any average 16 year old.

According to New York plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer, Miley Cyrus does not need any plastic surgery. She has a great youthful appearance and is in no need of any plastic surgery or procedures.”

Dr. Jennifer Walden concurs, saying, Miley Cyrus looks youthful and natural, and hasn’t had any work done.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, Miley Cyrus doesn’t look like she has had any plastic surgery yet. She’s cute.

Emily Osment, Plastic Surgery

Hannah Montana’s sidekick (and Miley’s real-life BFF) Emily Osment is also plastic-surgery free. The 17-year old sister of Academy Award nominee Haley Joel Osment is a great example of how good a teen star can look, even without a nose job, although she may decide to get one in the future.

Dr. Shafer says, Emily Osment is in no need of plastic surgery or procedures. She should just keep doing what she is doing - she looks great.

Dr. Nassif reports, Emily hasn’t had any plastic surgery, but I can imagine that she may have a rhinoplasty in the future to help soften her nose, which is rather wide. Also, she’ll eventually need a brow lift, because her brows are flat and low and have no arch.

Jason Earles, PLastic Surgery

The age of Jason Earles is up for debate, as his IMDB page claims that the youthful star is actually 31, but he looks a lot younger, allowing him to believably play the older brother of Miley.

Jason may look young, but it’s not with a surgeon’s help. The actor’s looks are all his own, although he may want to consider some plastic surgery in the future, according to Dr. Shafer and Dr. Nassif.

Dr. Shafer says, “Jason Earles looks young for his age, but he would benefit from a cosmetic rhinoplasty to refine his tip and alar bases, submental liposuction to define his jawline, and dermal filler in his nasolabial creases to smooth out his nasolabial folds. None of it is necessary, but it would make nice improvements. Based on the pictures I have seen, he would also benefit from a haircut.”

Dr. Nassif also noted Jason’s hair, saying, “Jason has a new haircut. A rhinoplasty would help soften his looks. He’ll also need an upper eye lift at some point in the near future.”

The other young male members of the cast could also consider plastic surgery in the future if they wish to tone down some of their more prominent features and fit in with the heartthrobs of the Disney machine.

Mitchel Musso, Plastic Surgery

17-year old Mitchel Musso, who plays Miley’s male BFF on the show could benefit from reducing the size of his nose and chin.

Dr. Nassif says, ““Mitchel would benefit from a rhinoplasty to soften his appearance. His nose is wide and it could made slightly more defined and thinner.”

Dr. Shafer says, “Mitchel Musso would benefit from a cosmetic rhinoplasty and genioplasty. His nose and chin dominate his face.”

Moises Arias, Plastic Surgery

The youngest member of the cast, 15-year old Moises Arias plays Rico, the evil yet lovable nemesis to perfection. Part of the character’s charm are in his unusual appearance, but if Moises ever wanted to play anything other than Rico, he could benefit from having his ears pinned back and minimizing his nose a bit.

Dr. Shafer reveals, “Moises Arias would benefit from an otoplasty to pin back his prominent ears. He might also consider a cosmetic rhinoplasty to refine his nose. All unnecessary, but considerations.”

Dr. Nassif also noted the prominence of Moises’ ears, saying, “Moises has protruding ears, which an otoplasty (ear pinning) would help to soften his look. Recently, his hair is being worn longer to cover his ears. You have to be conservative with pinning ears back to make it look natural.”

Billy Ray Cyrus, Plastic Surgery

47-year old Billy Ray Cyrus is Miley’s on-screen and off-screen dad. A music legend of sorts in his own right, Billy Ray is relatively new to acting and could use minimal plastic surgery to look even younger on camera.

Dr. Shafer says, “Billy Ray Cyrus does not need much. If anything, he would benefit from just a touch of midface filler and an upper blepharoplasty. This would give him a more youthful and awake appearance.”

On the other hand, as Dr. Nassif notes, “Billy Ray is aging nicely and, for now, doesn’t need any plastic surgery.”

While the core cast of Hannah Montana: The Movie remains plastic-surgery free, some of the movie’s guest stars are more familiar with going under the knife, including Vanessa Williams and Tyra Banks.

Vanessa Williams, Plastic Surgery

46-year old Vanessa Williams looks great for any age, thanks to a little help from Botox, and possibly a little more. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Vanessa William’s plastic surgery).

The former beauty queen has done some time in a plastic surgeon’s office, all to great result.

Dr. Walden says, “Vanessa Williams has always been beautiful. She has likely had Botox injections to her forehead to make it so smooth and wrinkle-free, and may have even had a surgical browlift in the past.”

Dr. Nassif says, ““Vanessa is beautiful. She has nicely arched brows and a nice nose, which could be the result of a rhinoplasty, as it appears that her nose is narrower. Her nostrils have been reduced. If she has had a rhinoplasty, it looks very natural.”

Plastic surgeon Dr. Sherrell J. Aston reveals, “Vanessa Williams first became public as a beauty pageant queen and quickly became successful as an actress, singer, and spokesperson. She looks as though she might have had a rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty and more recently Botox. She may have also had some fillers like Restylane as well. Vanessa looks great at 46; she has done a good job at maintaining her looks and physique while keeping competitive in her age bracket. Natural beauty of course has been the most important.”

Dr. Shafer says, “Vanessa Williams does not need any plastic surgery - she is 46 and looks beautiful. If anything, a little Botox Cosmetic in her neck bands - but even this is not necessary.”

Tyra Banks, Nose Job

Supermodel Tyra Banks also makes an appearance in the film. At 35, Tyra has a plastic surgery past, with a likely rhinoplasty but it may not be in her future. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Tyra Bank’s nose job).

Plastic surgeon Dr. John Di Saia says, “Tyra has probably had a rhinoplasty and lip augmentation looking at her older image.”

Dr. Walden agrees, saying, “Tyra Banks looks as if she has had a well-done rhinoplasty in the past which served to narrow the bridge of her nose.”

Dr. Aston says, “Tyra Banks has obviously had a rhinoplasty and breast augmentation. The nasal correction is a nice change from her earlier rather wide nose . The surgeon did a good job in balancing her unique ethnic look and improving her features. She has a very harmonious, soft look that has made her quite successful. She may have had a little Botox between the eyes and on the forehead. She is beautiful and does not need plastic surgery now.”

Dr. Nassif says, “Tyra has definitely had a rhinoplasty in the past. She may also have had some Botox in her forehead.”

Dr. Shafer sums up Tyra’s beauty, saying, “Tyra Banks does not need plastic surgery. She looks great! Whatever it is she does, she should keep on doing it.”

The cast of the Hannah Montana: The Movie looks great, whether or not the actors have had plastic surgery. Make Me Heal only hopes the film is as good as the actors looks.

Plastic Surgery’s Battle Against the Bulge: Smart Lipo Steps Up to the Plate

Posted on April 21st, 2009 in Liposuction by Lois W. Stern

By Lois W. Stern, Editor-at-Large, Makemeheal.com

With the many innovations of modern day plastic surgery, none seems to be gaining in popularity more rapidly than a variety of emerging technologies for the removal of unwanted body fat. Although diet and exercise remain the first line of defense against weight gain, when it comes to eliminating stubborn pockets of fat, these strategies often have fallen short of expectations. Enter modern day fat removal technologies.

With increasing interest in issues of health and beauty, it is little wonder that a number of plastic surgery technologies have stepped up to the plate to meet popular demand, while addressing America’s fixation with the battle of the bulge. According to statistics gathered by the ASAPS (American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery), last year lipoplasty (liposuction) ranked second in frequency of all surgical procedures performed in the United States with a total of 309,692 lipoplasty procedures. Within this number, 90% were performed on women, a figure consistent with the overall gender ranking for all surgical procedures.

Although tumescent liposuction is still an effective procedure for the removal of large fat deposits, one of the disadvantages of this procedure is its tendency to leave behind unattractive, loose skin. This is where Smartlipo, an innovative laser-assisted device, enters the playing field. It is also one of the reasons it is rapidly becoming the gold standard for the removal of unwanted body fat. In some cases, Smartlipo, also known as lipolysis, is being used as a viable substitute for tumescent liposuction. In other cases, where larger amounts of body fat are involved, Smartlipo is being effectively employed as a complement to traditional liposuction by helping surgeons tighten the loose skin left behind from a tumescent liposuction procedure.

Typically, areas treated effectively through Smart Lipo technology include the chin and neck areas, inner and outer thighs, knees, abdomen, upper arms, hips, “bra fat”, love handles, and male breasts.

How Smartlipo Works

Board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Alan Kisner, explains how Smart Lipo works:

“Normally the patient is injected with a local anesthesia before the lipolysis procedure. Treatment begins when the surgeon inserts a micro-cannula (tiny tube) about the size of a thick syringe needle into the skin. The tiny incision made for the entrance of the cannula is so small that no stitches are required after the procedure.

A three hundred to six hundred micron optical fiber is placed within this micro-

cannula, which is approximately 1.0 mm to 2.0 mm in diameter. This optical fiber extends two mm beyond the cannula. Because the aiming beam is very bright, it is visible through the skin, enabling the surgeon to see exactly where he is working. The laser causes small blood vessels to coagulate immediately, keeping bleeding, swelling and bruising normally associated with traditional fat removal techniques to a minimum.

As the surgeon moves this cannula in a slow, fan-like motion through various depths of fat tissue, the optic fiber delivers laser energy in short pulses, which heat the targeted fat cells in the top layers of the patient’s skin. These fat cells rupture and liquefy. The resultant oily liquid substance is then removed with another micro-cannula.

Of particular significance with any fat melting technique lies a concern for what happens to that fat as it is melted within the body. With Smartlipo, research has shown that little if any fat is reabsorbed into the body.

Further benefits of Smartlipo include both its potential for stimulating the formation of new collagen and for its reduction of cellulite.

During treatment, controlled wounding results in stimulation of new cells under the patient’s skin, which is thought to produce new collagen. Furthermore, the thermal energy within the dermis causes shrinkage of the fat cells residing between the collagen fibers (the bands that keep our skin tight and in place). When fat cells are removed from between these bands, it may result in reduction of cellulite.

Recovery After Smartlipo

The recovery period after a Smartlipo procedure is brief and relatively painless. Patients are typically sent home within one hour after the completion of the procedure with compression bandages to prevent affected tissues from shifting. In some cases, surgeons recommend that the patient wear a compression garment for a short period of time during recovery. Minor bruising and numbness occur after the procedure, but disappear within days after leaving the recovery room. Swelling is normally observable for the first week and gradually tapers off thereafter. Normally one is able to return to work within two to three days and is able to resume exercise and full activities after two weeks. Results become visible within one week, with continued improvement noted over a three to six month period.

Improvements in Smartlipo Technology

The first Smartlipo design was pioneered in Europe and South America beginning in the year 2000. In November, 2006, it became the first laser assisted liposuction technology approved by the FDA. Made by Cynosure, the original Smartlipo machine has already undergone improvement to increase its effectiveness. The newer model, the Smartlipo MPX, employs 2 lasers: the 1064 to treat the deeper fat and 1032 laser to tighten the skin. This model also incorporates some practical innovations in response to plastic surgeon input. Early models worked effectively but slowly, causing considerable surgeon fatigue. As surgeons expressed a need for a model that would work more rapidly, Cynosure searched for a solution, which they amusingly reached while observing the Wii Video Game system in action. Noting how the Wii chip responded to the speed and motion of the user’s arm while swinging a tennis racket or tossing a bowling ball, Cynosure was inspired to develop and insert a similar chip into their latest Smartlipo design, to respond to the speed and motion of the surgeon’s arm during the lipolysis procedure.

Smartlipo Costs

Smartlipo costs will vary depending upon the surgeon performing the procedure, the surgeon’s experience and location as well as the size of the areas to be treated. Although costs for Smartlipo tend to be a slightly higher than those of other modern liposuction techniques, other factors likely to reduce the overall cost need to be considered, including lower anesthesia and recovery charges. Another factor worth considering is the shortened recovery time following Smartlipo due to minimal tissue trauma, which spells less time lost from work.

Linda Gray Stays Young with Plastic Surgery

Posted on April 21st, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Lisa Stern

Best known for her role as Sue Ellen Ewing on the television prime-time soap opera Dallas, Linda Gray seems to look as good as she did in her heyday, thanks to some well-done plastic surgery.

Linda is now 68-years old and looks just as good as when she was nominated for an Emmy, back in 1981. Now, Linda makes appearances on prime time soaps, like the newly revised 90210.

Linda Gray, Plastic Surgery

Linda has gone through more than a few hair colors since her turn as Sue Ellen, but her current hue of brown looks good on her, as does her plastic surgery, including at least one facelift and some eyework in the form of an upper and lower blepharoplasty. In addition, she likely uses facial fillers and some Botox, all to positive results.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Paul S. Nassif says, “Linda Gray is wearing a little more make-up and has a different hairstyle than previously. She has gained some weight since 2001, making her face appear less gaunt. She doesn’t appear to have had any apparent plastic surgery: her brows are low and her eyes are heavy, as is her neck. Overall, she looks nice.”

Plastic surgeon Dr. Sherrell J. Aston says, “Linda Gray is a great example of a woman in Hollywood who is aging with perfection. She appears to have had a great facelift(at least one) and upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty. She is neither too taut nor too wrinkled. She looks as though she may be getting fillers around her mouth and Botox between her brows and around the eyes. Her current darker hair and softer make-up are better suited for her age(68). I think she looks great.”

If Linda wants to continue looking great for her age, she may want to consider getting some touch-ups.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer recommends, “There is no doubt that Linda Gray looks great - wow and she is 68. If she is looking for any improvement, she could use an upper and lower blepharoplasty to smooth out her orbital region and some glabellar and crow’s feet Botox Cosmetic to relax her lines. However, these changes would just be icing on the cake.”

Linda is a prime example of what plastic surgery can do when done right.

Audrina Partridge Denies Plastic Surgery Rumors

Posted on April 17th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Carrie Zender

Although many of the stars of The Hills have had plastic surgery, some are more open than others. Despite being the target of many such rumors, Audrina Partridge is denying the allegations…so far.

Audrina Partridge, Plastic Surgery

As the 23-year old star prepare to leave “The Hills in search of her own reality TV show, Audrina laughs off rumors that she has had plastic surgery. (See Make Me Heal’s story on The Hills stars’ plastic surgery).

She says, People think I’ve got my nose done, my chin done. I just laugh at it. I’m just losing my baby fat — everyone grows up and changes.”

Make Me Heal finds it interesting that she doesn’t mention a boob job, the most likely and persistent of the rumors. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Audrina Partridge’s breast augmentation).

Audrina has a slim frame for such large breasts and although she may not have has multiple procedures as is rumored, it is likely that she was the recipient of one pair of breast implants.

Make Me Heal wishes Audrina luck as she shops her new show to TV executives and looks out for her adventures on this season of The Hills.

Kim Kardashian’s Family Getting More Plastic Surgery

Posted on April 17th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Dana Jackson

The Kardashian clan is no stranger to plastic surgery, so the recent announcement that a member of the family is getting plastic surgery isn’t all that shocking, at least by reality TV standards.

Kim Kardashian, Sisters, Plastic Surgery

28-year old Kim Kardashian told People magazine that a family member will be getting plastic surgery soon, and that viewers should watch her show, Keeping up with the Kardashians to find out who that person is.

Kim says, “Someone in the Kardashian family will soon have plastic surgery… I can’t tell you who, but someone in my family will look totally different and viewers will see it all on the show very soon.”

Kim is the most notorious member of the clan Kardashian, which is made up of mom Kris Jenner, stepdad Bruce Jenner, sisters Kourtney and Khloe and brother Robert, and halfsisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner.

In the past, Kim has refuted rumors of having been under the knife herself, but has used VelaShape laser treatment for cellulite, as have her sisters Khloe and Kourtney. (See Make me Heal’s story on Kim Kardashian’s plastic surgery and the Kardashian Sisters’ cellulite treatment).

Even if Kim hasn’t been under the knife, her sister Kourtney is widely believed to have had a breast augmentation (See Make Me Heal’s story on Kourtney Kardashian’s breast implants) and her mother and stepfather have spent a combined fortune on facial plastic surgery (See Make Me Heal’s story on Bruce Jenner’s plastic surgery).  Sister Khloe is also looking like she’s packing on the pounds, so she may be a candidate for liposuction or perhaps even a mini tummy tuck.

Given the penchant for plastic surgery in the Kardashian household, the only question is what’s next? Another boob job? A facelift? Or maybe the spotlight shy brother, Robert, the only non-K name with Kardashian for a last name, is finally following in his big sisters’ footsteps and having something implanted or removed.

The Kardashians join another reality TV show family, Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed in having their plastic surgery broadcast on their show (See Make Me Heal’s story on Gene Simmons’ facelift). Brigitte Nielson also had a show entirely dedicated to her plastic surgery comeback air last year (See Make Me Heal’s story on Brigitte Nielson’s plastic surgery).

Make Me Heal looks forward to seeing who gets what done and wishes that Kardashian a speedy recovery.

Is Lindsay Lohan Mending a Broken Heart with Plastic Surgery?

Posted on April 14th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Lisa Stanfield

Lindsay Lohan’s recent public and messy break-up with live-in girlfriend has led the troubled young starlet to make some changes to her appearance. Make Me Heal wonders if plastic surgery is one of those changes.

22-year old Lindsay shocked the world with her relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson, after dating every available male in Hollywood. Now that the romance is gone, Lindsay has already gone through a series of physical transformations, including dying her hair a bold shade of red and reportedly getting a new tattoo as well.

Because changing one’s appearance is common after a break-up and Lindsay Lohan is a known dabbler in plastic surgery, from her augmented lips to her possibly augmented breasts (See Make Me Heal’s story on Lindsay Lohan’s plastic surgery), Make Me Heal suspects that Lindsay may have also paid a visit to her plastic surgeon after getting her hair done.

Cosmetic surgery is something that should be seriously considered before actually going under the knife, or needle. Hopefully Lindsay calmed down before making any rash decisions.

Plastic surgeon Dr Sherrell J. Aston says, “Lindsay Lohan is seeking attention especially since her breakup with Samantha Ronson with changing her hair color, tattoo etc. She has lost a great deal of weight so she really appears emaciated. Her lips suggest fillers of some type. She should not have any plastic surgery until she is emotionally stable. Plastic surgery is not the answer to her problems.”

Manhattan Plastic Surgeon Dr. David Shafer tells Make Me Heal, “I think Lindsay Lohan needs to spend a few days at a spa and get some rest and relaxation. This will do more for her appearance at this time than any surgery or procedures. After any transition in one’s life, it is common to look for change. The most popular are Botox and fillers. In the current economy, I see many patients trying to improve their looks to either keep the job they have or try to replace the job they lost. In Lindsay’s case, she should take the time to make some positive changes in her life.”

Plastic surgeon Dr. Paul S. Nassif says, “On the cover of US Weekly, Lindsay looks like she has an Hyaluronic Acid filler in her lips. They look nice. She may have had them done after her break-up, because after any breakup, you need a little fresher upper to get you feeling a little better.”

On the other hand, if Lindsay is just getting her lips augmented, something she has done in the past, it may be no different to her than changing her hair color yet again.

Plastic surgeon Dr. John Di Saia says, “Lindsay Lohan, like many on the outs, may have had some fillers or Botulinum toxin. Many look at little touches like these like a hairstyle change.”

Although Lindsay has long been the subject of plastic surgery rumors, Samantha Ronson would be new to the knife if she chose to alter her appearance (See Make Me Heal’s story on Samantha Ronson’s plastic surgery future).

As everyone knows, breaking up is hard to do and Make Me Heal wishes both Lindsay and Samantha a speedy recovery.

Is Michael Jackson Considering More Plastic Surgery?

In the decade, Michael Jackson has become more known for his plastic surgery addiction than his music. So it was with much alarm that Make Me Heal learned that the King of Pop is planning to have more plastic surgery for his upcoming comeback series of concerts in London.

Michael Jackson, Rhinoplasty

50-year old Michael Jackson has had a tumultuous personal life, but that is nothing compared to the havoc that a plastic surgeon’s knife has wreaked on his face. In the past, Michael has notoriously gone through several rhinoplasty procedures, the last of which was done as a repair. A German doctor reportedly took cartilage from Jackson’s ear to place inside his nose to repair deterioration caused by years of multiple nose jobs. Michael’s nose is now said to be fine, although it previously teetered on the brink of collapse.

In addition to the rumored countless nose jobs, Michael has reportedly also had cheek implants, a smaller jaw as well as a a skin lightening procedure.

After all the work, Jackson is now said to want to have even more plastic surgery, despite it making him look nearly unrecognizable from his days with the Jackson 5.

According to the rumor mill, “Jackson wants to go under the knife again, according to biographer Ian Halperin. He says, Michael has consulted some of the world’s best cosmetologists and surgeons in preparation for this comeback.

On his blog Dr. Anthony Youn responds to the report saying, “That’s a BAD idea. The only plastic surgery he should consider having is corrective plastic surgery. At least it looks like the alleged MRSA infection he may or may not have had is gone.”

Hopefully he decides not to have any more work done and can someday be happy with the Man in The Mirror.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Paul S. Nassif says, “Michael Jackson doesn’t have anything left to do in the way of plastic surgery.”

If Michael Jackson were to get any surgery, Make Me Heal anticipates that he will get facial plastic surgery, including possible fat transplantation to his face to make it look more youthful and plump, fillers to smooth out wrinkles, and possible eyelid surgery to get rid of any signs of aging around the eyes.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “Michael Jackson is obviously no stranger to plastic surgery.  Hopefully his tissues have had plenty of time to recuperate since the last time he went under the knife.  He should leave what is left of his nose alone.  If anything, he may benefit from fillers or gaining some weight to help bulk up his gaunt looking face. “

Indeed it seems that Michael should be practicing to be onstage again, not focusing on his appearance as it has gotten him into a great deal of trouble in the past. His retirement shows (and comeback) is set to begin this July with a series of 10 concerts at London’s O2 Arena, being called This is It.

At a press conference, Michael said, These will be my final shows performing in London. “This Is It” really means this is it.

Plastic Surgeon Dr. Sherrel J. Aston says, “Michael Jackson has finally healed from having had  many plastic surgery procedures in the past. Remember when he was wearing a bandage on his nose? He should not have any plastic surgery ever again. He will make a dramatic comeback if he just concentrates on his music.”

Make Me Heal enjoys the legendary performer and hopes he eventually feels secure enough to go out without the mask and without the plastic surgery.

Did Nicolas Cage Knowingly Have Plastic Surgery?

Posted on April 10th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Erica Hurtz

Nicolas Cage has been a Hollywood favorite since he starred as the kid from the other side of the hill in the 1983 film Valley Girl. But after his turn in Face/Off, many wondered if Nic has really had plastic surgery.

(Left: Before, RIght: After)

At 45, Nicolas Cage is still good-looking enough to attract significantly younger women, like his current wife, 24-year old Alice Kim. Many actors begin having plastic surgery in their 30s, to ward off the appearance of aging that is likely to occur in their 40s. However, Nicolas seems to be facial-filler free, but he likely takes good care of his skin.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “Nicolas Cage’s most recent photos do not look much different to me than his images in previous years. He does not have a “Botox Look.” He does have a better skin tone and looks well rested.”

However, just because Nic hasn’t been under the knife lately, doesn’t mean he hasn’t had plastic surgery in the past. Many actors have a nose job early in their careers and Nicolas may be a prime example of this. Nicolas has also been fighting a receeding hairline for sometime and covers it up using a series of hairpieces, like fellow thespian Jeremy Piven. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Jeremy Piven’s hairloss).

According to Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, Calif., “Nicolas Cage may have had a rhinoplasty a long time ago, as his nose appears to be a little pinched. He could also benefit from hair transplant surgery or a better hairpiece.”

Whatever the secret to Nicolas Cage’s youthful appearance he certainly looks great in his latest film, Knowing.
