George Clooney Eyelid Plastic Surgery Rumors Return

Posted on October 30th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Jet H. Ross

George Clooney is well known prankster in Hollywood, and his latest jokes have gone public, with George playing around with whether or not he’s had plastic surgery. Make Me Heal thinks the latest rumors could be true, as the gray-haired fox himself didn’t start them.

George Clooney, Plastic Surgery

A few years ago, George scammed his fans when he told Julia Roberts he’d had his done (See Make Me Heal’ story on George Clooney’s eyelid surgery). Then the now 48-year stud took back his comments, saying that they were nothing but a joke (See Make Me Heal’s story on George Clooney’s plastic surgery).

However, it seems that the rumors of a blepharoplasty may have recently come true, as indicated by George’s rejuvenated-looking eyelids at a recent red carpet appearance.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Ellenbogen says, “George Clooney appears in earlier pictures to have heavy upper eyelids and presently they appear deeper above. This doesn’t happen by chance, in my opinion. Things usually get worse, not better, as you get older. However, there may be some exceptions.”

For eyelid surgeries, scars are done on the inside of the lid, so there would be no obvious signs under the harsh lights of the photographers

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr David Shafer says, “Looking at the before and after photos, there leaves little question that he had surgical intervention. Often eyelid surgery can be performed from inside the eyelid, so no scars are apparent. Now, just a little Botox Cosmetic and he will be all set.”

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “It is possible that George Clooney had blepharoplasty. In older photos, you can see there is a bit of skin giving the eyes a slightly tired look. The skin is not as apparent in more recent photos. If he did have the surgery, his surgeon was conservative and did a really nice job in creating a subtle change.”

Whatever George has done, whether it is getting more sleep or getting a little plastic surgery, has left him looking like the Hollywood leading man he is.

Did Rachael Ray Get Plastic Surgery to Stay Cute as a Button?

Posted on October 29th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Lisa Stern

Whether you think she’s terribly adorable or terribly annoying, Rachael Ray is one thing for sure: terribly attractive.

You may think the self-taught television cook slathers herself in her favorite EVOO every night to stay youthful, or you may think Rachael has had plastic surgery to remain camera ready at 41, but whatever her beauty secrets, Make Me Heal and her fans think she looks great.

Rachel Ray, Plastic Surgery

Last year, many suspected Rachael Ray went under the knife to get more than just a cyst removed from the vocal cords that produce her unique-sounding voice. Rachel’s response to rumors that she was actually having a browlift was in her typical, brassy fashion, “If I were to have the week off, you think I’d spend it under the knife?” she told Extra in early 2008. “If was going to cut something off, don’t you think it’d be my butt, not my forehead?”

Plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Ellenbogen says, “Rachael Ray is too cute to criticize for wanting or having any surgery. She, I hope, realizes as most woman don’t, that sometimes what you have is better than what you can get.”

Rachael is certainly familiar with plastic surgery, if not the knife itself, as Make Me Heal contributor Dr. Anthony Youn is a frequent visitor to her talk show set, sharing the latest plastic surgery news with viewers. However, it still is skeptical that Rachael has actually been under the knife herself.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “It does not appear Rachael Ray had any plastic surgery done. Her face still has a natural young and fresh look to it, and this is due to her genetics, not surgery.”

If Rachael has visited a plastic surgeon, it was likely for a tiny bit of the injectable Botox, which may have given her the lift many thought was surgical.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr David Shafer says, “It is unclear whether Rachael Ray has had plastic surgery. She may have well just had Botox Cosmetic to achieve the same effects.”

While Rachael likely hasn’t had plastic surgery yet, she isn’t adverse to it either, enthusiastically responding to Dr Youn’s reports.

Rachael’s popularity shows no signs of waning and Make Me Heal looks forward to seeing what the entrepreneur does next.

Tara Reid’s Revised Plastic Surgery to Appear in Playboy

Posted on October 28th, 2009 in Awful/Bad Plastic Surgery, Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Lisa Stanfield

In a bid to retain her small claim to fame, Tara Reid is reportedly getting ready to pose for an upcoming issue of Playboy, plastic surgery scars and all.

33-year old Tara has notoriously undergone a botched liposuction and breast augmentation procedure back in 2004. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Tara Reid’s plastic surgery). Back then she seemed disinclined to show her body in the popular men’s magazine, saying that her body:

Tara Reid, Plastic Surgery

“It looked like I got completely butchered up. The areolas
they looked like goose-shaped eggs,” Reid said about her boob job. Of her liposuction, Reid said, “My stomach became the most ripply, bulgy thing.”

Since then, Tara has often been seen sporting a bikini, reportedly after going corrective surgery to fix the bulges on her stomach. To repair a botched body contouring procedure, fat grafting or other techniques are often used, sometimes with great or not so great results.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Ellenbogen says, “Tara Reid had bad liposuction. A few doctors have tried to repair it. It still looks gnarly. It can be repaired by fat grafting done by an expert over two or three sessions. I’ve had good results with most. Poor Tara. Her doctors should be ridiculed, not her!”

Plastic surgeon Dr. Sherrell J Aston says, “It is most often difficult or impossible to totally correct irregularities caused by liposuction. There are various techniques that can be used to bring about an improvement.”

In the past Tara has said she wouldn’t pose for Playboy, saying, ““I know there are problems with my stomach. There are bumps on it, it’s uneven, but it’s not that bad. My stomach scars are my battle wounds.”

While it is nice that Tara seems to have adjusted to her post-surgery body, it is likely that Playboy will have to use Photoshop and computer imaging techniques to restore the beauty to her former American Pie glory.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “Tara Reid unfortunately has a bad result from overaggressive liposuction. I see many people each month who have been to other (and often unqualified non-plastic surgeons) people who performed their liposuction. It is very difficult to surgically correct these deficiencies, so airbrushing will likely be needed for the Playboy photos. However, micro fat grafting and sometimes additional surgery, we are able to make significant improvements.”

Make Me Heal wishes Tara the best and hope she finally makes peace with her body before she becomes an even bigger victim of Hollywood’s obsession with plastic surgery.

Miss California Pageant Wants Reimbursement for Miss California’s Breast Implants

Posted on October 28th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Ruby Marr

The newly crowned Miss California Carrie Prejean has proved to be amongst the more controversial beauty pageant winners. The scandal continues as the pageant has demanded repayment for Carrie’s breast augmentation.

Carrie Prejean, Plastic Surgery

22-year old Carrie Prejean stunned the nation when she openly announced her views on gay marriage. Then pageant followers were stunned again when Carrie came out about her breast augmentation, which was paid for with pageant funds. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Carrie Prejean’s Breast Implants).

Since her initial controversy, Carrie has been dethroned as the reigning Miss California, with pageant officials citing continued alleged breach of contract issues as the reason.

Now, the pageant is also asking Carrie for repayment of what they say was a $5200 loan made with an oral agreement to pay for breast implants.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr David Shafer says, “This sounds like a complex legal issue. However, it is ridiculous lawsuits like this that are tying up our court system. If the California Pageant is hard up for $5200, then they have bigger problems than this lawsuit. Why they are paying for a contestant’s implants in the first place is another interesting question altogether.”

In addition to the $5200, the pageant is also asking for profits from a tell-all book that Carrie has written that is due out next month.

Plastic surgeon Dr Richard Ellenbogen says, “Duh! If the Miss California Pageant was, for example, an amorous boyfriend who bought breast implants for his girlfriend and then he fondled away but then they broke up, could he ask for his money back? I don’t think so. Get real Miss California Pageant. You are a jealous boyfriend and deserve only memories.”

It seems that even after being dethroned, Carrie has kept her title as a scandal queen and Make Me Heal looks forward to the next chapter of her saga.

Did Drew Barrymore Have a Nose Job for Hollywood Longevity?

Posted on October 27th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Sam Stets

At 34 years old, Drew Barrymore is already a Hollywood legend, thanks to her family heritage. But Make Me Heal and others have wondered if some of Drew Barrymore’s looks aren’t due to genetics, but from some amazing plastic surgery.

Drew Barrymore, Plastic Surgery

Drew Barrymore has been acting practically since she exited the womb, but in her latest film, Whip It!, Drew went from in front of the camera to behind, directing the film as well as appearing in it. In one scene, Drew nearly gets her nose broken, but it may have already been deliberately broken in an effort to make it the perfect little button nose that is the current face of Cover Girl.

However, any changes in Drew’s nose could just be a result of growing up.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California says, “Drew Barrymore’s nose does not appear to have undergone any drastic changes over the years. Her nose seems naturally perky, and that is not the result of any surgery.”

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr David Shafer says, “Drew Barrymore’s nose does look a bit more refined from younger photos. However, the nose does change with age, so it is hard to tell if there has been surgical intervention.”

Drew is no stranger to the knife, undergoing a breast reduction surgery as a teen and more recently likely having a breast lift. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Drew Barrymore’s plastic surgery). On the other hand, it also likely that Drew inherited her nose as well as her acting skills.

Plastic surgeon Dr Richard Ellenbogen says, “Drew Barrymore is nasally blessed. It doesn’t look like it’s been tweaked. It just looks like she got older. And may I say, as she got older, she got more elegant and more beautiful and more talented.”

Like most people, Make Me Heal has been enchanted by Drew since 1982’s classic film ET and looks forward to her next movie.

Socialite Hofit Golan Shows Love for Plastic Surgery

Posted on October 26th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Dana Jackson

Nobody really knows who or what she is, but one thing is certain: Hofit Golan has had a great deal of plastic surgery.

Golan, Plastic Surgery

Hofit Golan doesn’t have much available information, with sources claiming she is from everywhere from Canada to Israel. And Awful Plastic Surgery has named her Europe’s Phoebe Price, for her uncanny ability to turn up on red carpets wearing dresses that reveal way too much plastic surgery. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Phoebe Price’s plastic surgery).

While Hofit’s most obvious cosmetic procedure are breast implants that resemble fruit more than female breasts, she also looks to be a user of facial injectables, like Botox and probably also had a rhinoplasty at some point to create an unnaturally shaped nasal tip.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr Jennifer Walden says, “Socialites are no strangers to plastic surgery, and this rings true with Hofit Golan. She is rumored to have had breast augmentation, liposuction, rhinoplasty, as well as injectables. She must wear those low cut dresses to take the attention away from that rhinoplasty.”

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Spalding Drive Cosmetic Surgery says, “Hofit Golin appears to have had a rhinoplasty at some point, as her tip is slightly pinched in some photos. It is likely she had some Botox as well, but not overdone.”

The obvious breast augmentation is a result of over-the-muscle, too-large for her frame implants.

Plastic surgeon Dr Sherrell J Aston says, “After reviewing photographs of Ms. Golan it is clear that her are implants too large for her tiny frame. Unfortunately her implants are also visible under her skin, which suggests that they are not beneath the pectoral muscle. If she had a revision with better implant selection and they were placed under the muscle it would give her a better result. In addition to her Breast Implants it is possible that Ms. Golan has had Botox in her forehead and fillers like Restylane or Juvederm to her lips.”

Make Me Heal thinks Hoftit would be more attractive if she wasn’t quite so obvious about showing off her enhanced assets and wonders mightily about her age and origins.

Bai Ling Stays Sexy without Plastic Surgery

Posted on October 26th, 2009 in Asian Plastic Surgery, Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Ethnic Plastic Surgery by Erica Hurtz

Bai Ling is best known for her questionable fashion taste that leaves little to the imagination. But the Asian actress seems to be staying sexy all on her own, with little or no help from plastic surgery.

At 43, Chinese-born Bai Ling is at an age when many Hollywood actresses are beginning to show wear and tear on the big screen and start having facelifts and fillers to prevent looking old. But not Bai, she is staying away from the knife, but still looking better than ever.

Bai Ling, Plastic Surgery

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Spalding Drive Cosmetic Surgery says, “Bai Ling does not have any obvious indications of plastic surgery. It is possible she had some Botox, but nothing further. She looks great for 43, and seems comfortable in her shoes.”

The extremely confident mainly Indie actress doesn’t have any plans for plastic surgery, saying, “Myself, I will never have plastic surgery. When you do that, you start to lose yourself.”

Plastic surgeon Dr Sherrell J Aston says, “After reviewing Ms. Ling’s photographs it appears that she has been blessed with not only attention-grabbing style, but also great genes. I do not think she has had any surgery to date.”

Plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Ellenbogen says, “Bai Ling looks all right from the factory, anyway there is nothing obvious.”

Look out for Bai Ling’s next role as a stripper in A Beautiful Life.

Tina Fey Bags on Botox

Posted on October 23rd, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Carrie Zender

Female comedians seem to make a habit of plastic surgery, giving themselves more fodder for their stand-up routines. But SNL alum Tina Fey says she is bucking the trend, preferring to stay natural.

39-year old Tina has a lot of plans for her future, but plastic surgery, and even Botox injections, isn’t in them.

Tina Fey, Plastic Surgery

Tina says, “You can point any kind of laser at my face, but I don’t think Botox is for me. I think it is bad. People who have too much, they look like their faces are full of candles — a shiny, shiny face.” Festive, though. “Yes, festive. A holiday candle.”

While Tina doesn’t seem to care much for plastic surgery, it could help reduce the appearance of a scar she has on her face, the result of a knife attack from her childhood.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr Jennifer Walden says, “I think Tina Fey is one of Hollywood’s most beautiful funny ladies. She has openly stated that she does not use Botox or any other injectible, but with the right doctor Botox could be this funny lady’s best punchline. Though rarely spoken about Ms. Fey was in an accident involving a knife when she was young and has left the star with a visible scar on her face. It is possible that a properly injected filler could help with visibility of the scar.”

In addition to injectables, there are other plastic surgery procedures that could help lessen the appearance of the scar and make Tina as photographable from her left side as the right.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Spalding Drive Cosmetic Surgery says, “Tina Fey looks great and does not need any Botox to enhance her appearance. A filler will not necessarily improve the appearance of a scar, there are much better scar revision techniques that may be performed.”

Make Me Heal looks forward to watching Tina’s antics on the new season of 30 Rock, with or without plastic surgery.

Dysport: The New Botox?

Posted on October 22nd, 2009 in Fillers & Injectables, Plastic Surgeon Articles & Interviews by Makemeheal.com Staff

By Dr. David Shafer

Dysport is often called the “New Botox.” However, Dypsort has actually been available in Europe for therapeutic indications since 1991 and for cosmetic applications since 2001. In April 2009, Dysport (officially known as BoNT-A/D) was approved in the United States for the “temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines.” These are the lines between your eyebrows. However, just like Botox Cosmetic, Dysport can be used “off-lable” for treatment of crow’s feet (squinting lines around your eyes), forehead wrinkles, chemical brow lifts, platysmal bands (neck bands) and sweaty palms and armpits.

The molecule in Dysport is exactly like Botox Cosmetic but is covered by a different coating, which dissociates (dissolves) at a different rate. That is why the onset of action of Dysport is thought to be faster than Botox Cosmetic since the coating comes off faster. In Botox Cosmetic Treatment the usual onset of action is 3 to 7 days where the Dysport onset of action seems to be a few days faster. The dosing is different with Dysport, so there may be some confusion when translating Botox “units” with Dysport “units.” This is why you need to see an injector who has experience specifically in Dysport injections. Also, there is a learning curve with Dysport injections, so you may not initially achieve the same results as you are used to receiving with Botox Cosmetic.

Dysport Before and after

There is also some confusion about the pricing of Dysport with many reports on the Internet and advertising claiming that it is cheaper than Botox Cosmetic. There is a discrepancy in the potency of units. A “unit” of Botox is not equivalent to a “unit” of Dysport, so unit pricing is not comparable. There is a slight savings with Dysport, but it is about 5% - nothing substantial. So, do not expect to go to your plastic surgeon to achieve the same results as Botox Cosmetic for half the price. However, with competition, hopefully prices will come down. Allergan (Botox Cosmetic) is currently offering a $50 mail-in rebate for Botox Cosmetic customers and Medicis Aesthetics (Dysport) is offering a $75 mail-in rebate. With these rebates and introductory pricing, you may be able to get a better deal than your last injection.

Dysport, Plastic Surgery

In the end, it is great to have another minimally invasive product approved on the market which can give consistent and noticeable results with virtually no downtime and minimal risks.

Dr Shafer, plastic surgery

Dr. David Shafer completed his plastic surgery residency at the world famous Mayo Clinic. He was then selected to continue his education at the prestigious Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital. While most plastic surgeons go directly into practice after residency, Dr. Shafer had the honor to operate with many of the world’s most distinguished plastic surgeons. This unique experience allowed Dr. Shafer to advance his skills to a level that most surgeons take a lifetime to develop. Dr. Shafer continues to operate at MEETH and now teaches the next generation of plastic surgeons from NYU, Columbia and Cornell.

Ricky Gervais Rags on Plastic Surgery

Posted on October 22nd, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Dana Jackson

Ricky Gervais may have just hit it big on this side of the pond, but he’s already decided not to indulge in Hollywood’s favorite pastime: plastic surgery.

Ricky Gervais, Plastic Surgery

48-year old funny man Ricky Gervais is proud of his unconventional looks and has no plans to alter them.

He says, “I suppose I’m a bit fitter than I was, but not because of Hollywood,” he said to ITN. “The first thing I’d do if I wanted to blend into Hollywood is, actually, starve myself and get new teeth and take roles where I’m a real romantic lead. Which would be hilarious; that won’t happen.”

“Oh, God no!” he said to ITN. “I saw this episode of Housewives of New Jersey and they had Botox parties. They just sit there, being injected. What are you doing? And facial surgery? You might die. ‘Oh, it’s worth it.’ No, it isn’t worth it. Let’s just have the face we were born with, shall we?”

Plastic surgeon Dr Sherrell J Aston says, “Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion about injectables and Plastic Surgery. I understand Mr. Gervais feelings towards Botox and I try to remind patients that their results may vary. Some patients like the results more than others and at the end of the day it is a personal decision. With that said, Botox should always be used in moderation for the best results.”

Plastic surgeon Dr Richard Ellenbogen says, “Ricky Gervais is perfect as he is: a character actor who became a leading man, He is ‘Mr. Every Man.’ His smile is as contagious as a yawn: he smiles, you smile. He is smart enough to realize he is the complete package.”

“Of course you could remove his jowls and refine his neck and then you could keep going until you had a modern day Henry Fonda look-alike, but who would want that?”

Fans of Ricky can see him in the rom-com The Invention of Lying, featuring actress Jennifer Garner, who has used plastic surgery, especially lip augmentation to further her career (See Make Me Heal’s story on Jennifer Garner’s plastic surgery).
