  • Wrestler star Mickey Rourke was once a handsome leading man but after the film 9 ½ Weeks, he began to look very different from his young self and it wasn’t just aging. The actor had overdone plastic surgery, which left him more famous for his bizarre appearance than for his acting abilities. Now it looks like he has followed good advice and has laid of the cosmetic surgery procedures at last.

61-year old Mickey Rourke had originally undergone plastic surgery to repair damage that he had incurred as a boxer before his acting career took off. However, his plastic surgery was overdone and he looked less like a hunky leading man and more like a victim of something horrible.

As recently as 2012, Mickey appeared to still be going under the knife when he posted photos of himself sporting bandages and bruises over what looked to be plastic surgery scars.

“Has a plastic surgeon been wrestling with Mickey Rourke’s face? His face appears to have a plethora of scars and changes from potentially several different operations,” celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn, who has not treated the actor, told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview at the time.

“I suspect that he’s had at least one facelift, and maybe more, creating scars around his ears,” revealed Dr. Youn.

“He appears to have regained the sideburns he seemed to lose after a previous surgery, possibly signifying hair transplants. I also suspect that he’s undergone an upper eyelid lift.

“He’s a fine actor who should keep far, far away from plastic surgeons from now on,” warned the medical expert.

At the height of Mickey’s bizarre appearance, he was rumored to have undergone at least one overly tight facelift, possible chin, cheek and lower lip implants and possible multiple nose jobs, amongst other procedures including having major fillers placed.

These days, Mickey’s face looks to have recovered. He has facial hair and wrinkles around his eyes that seem natural and adorable for his age, rather than a very puffy look that he has been sporting of late. His face looks much more natural and like it has some movement and his lips no longer appear to be swollen.

Although he has been wearing some pretty strange outfits and looking rather disheveled, Mickey looks to be cleaning up, trimming his facial hair and bathing. Mickey’s hair is rather bizarre and could be the result of a transplant procedure or just the over zealous use of product which makes his hair stand on end.

These days, Mickey is flying around the world to promote his new movie Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, which also costars Jessica Alba along with Josh Brolin, Rosario Dawson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ray Liotta, Jeremy Piven and Bruce Willis.

Mickey’s career got back on track with the first Sin City in 2005, which was followed up by his starring role in The Wrestler, which also got him an Oscar nom. Since then, his career has slowed down somewhat but looks to be reviving once more.
