They tell you to exercise to keep your body in shape, but what can you do to keep your eyes in shape? When your eyes don’t seem to attract as much attention anymore, you can turn to a friendly dermatologist or plastic surgeon to give you the wide-open, refreshed looking eyes that will get you noticed.

    Concern: Wrinkles and Furrows

If your problem is wrinkles and furrows around your eyes and forehead, there are many minimally-invasive procedures to choose from. Zap tiny crow’s feet and fine lines with muscle-relaxing injections of Botox Cosmetic.

Another good option for rejuvenating the delicate area around the eyes and forehead is called Sublative Rejuvenation from Syneron. This is non-laser and non-light−based treatment that utilizes fractionated bipolar radio frequency technology to place the heat energy effectively into the deeper tissues where it can tighten up the skin without causing redness or downtime. “I use Sublative for rejuvenation and the results have been reliably and consistently excellent,” said New York City Dermatologist Doris Day, M.D. Post treatment, new collagen and new healthy skin cells are produced.

    Concern: Dark Circles

Doctors tell you to sleep at least eight hours a day to maintain a healthy body. But for some of us, no amount of sleep can get rid of under eye discoloration. Darkened skin of the lower eyelid region is a common complaint in all skin types, and can be caused by thinning skin, loss of eyelid fat, and even allergies and sinus problems can play a role. Maintain a bright, dewy look with Olluminate Intense Eye Repair. The stabilized retinol and advanced peptides aid in keeping skin taut and helps minimize fine lines and wrinkles. The optical diffusers in this product also highlight the eye area, reducing the appearance of dark circles.
Lumixyl Revitaleyes is another ideal choice to eliminate darkness under your eyes. This breakthrough under eye serum is formulated with decapeptide-12, which corrects dark circles and eliminates fine lines around the eyes.

Another method used to correct dark circles or what doctors refer to as a “tear trough”, a hollow area under the eyes, is with fillers such as hyaluronic acid gels, your own fat and platelet—rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM). Selphyl® PRFM is widely used to rejuvenate the lower eyelid area. According to Alan Matarasso, M.D., F.A.C.S.,“SELPHYL® PRFM is ideally suited to the infraorbital area. Hyaluronic acid fillers have been successfully used in this area, but there can be unwanted side effects such as lumps, bumps, swelling and discoloration. SELPHYL provides improved blood supply and collagen stimulation which improves skin texture and color.”

    Concern: Drooping Or Hooded Eyelid

BOTOX Cosmetic, Dysport or Xeomin can be used to reduce eyelid wrinkles, but it can also be used to lift heavy eyelids, giving you a youthful, more wide-eyed open look. Pelleve Wrinkle Reduction is another non-surgical, non-invasive treatment designed to smooth the lower eyelid area by heating the deep layers of the skin with radiofrequency waves. According to Illinois Dermatologist Dr. Amy Taub, “There is virtually no pain and no downtime and many patients have compared the Pelleve treatment to a warm facial massage.”

If the problem is hooding on the upper eyelid, the best solution is to have a conversation with a plastic surgeon. Eyelid surgery removes excess fat, skin, and tissue from the upper and lower eyelid. The eyelid surgery is often combined with skin resurfacing to reduce wrinkling and skin discoloration. Many women opt for eyelid surgery not only to correct their eyelids but also to give them a deeper platform to apply eye shadow. If your main concern is more than skin-deep, an endoscopic brow lift (or forehead lift) may be recommended. This is a surgical procedure that rejuvenates the appearance by opening up the area around the eyes and smoothing out wrinkles on the forehead. New York Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Jon Turk, explains that unlike a traditional brow lift, this involves only a few tiny incisions placed behind the hairline, making the endoscopic technique a minimally-invasive method of lifting the brow area. It is an ideal procedure to correct a heavy upper lid or droopy brows.

Concern: Over Plucked Or Too Thin Brows And Sparse Eyelashes

Thick, Brooke Shields style brows are in this season, but if yours have been waxed, plucked, and threaded into oblivion, you won’t get the look. Revamp with eyebrow transplants, which use your own hairs from your head. A note: the hair grows like the follicles are still on your scalp, so they require frequent pruning. Temporary eyelash extensions can be dramatic and seductive; high maintenance but worth it for a special look. For seriously thinning lashes, transplants can also help.
